Gameplay is good enough to not think about it too much, and I don't have enough game design experience to give good critique, unfortunately. A couple emblems are really hard to find (well, for my dumb self), but I'm personally weak at that anyway. Mod characters play incredibly well, and there's a lot of fun wackiness to be pulled off.

Really, what I want to say most of all is that the vibes and aesthetic of this pack are incredible. It feels like it came out of late 2000s/early 2010s Newgrounds, and when I say that, I mean it as an absolute compliment. Things like this just bring me so much joy. I haven't played Sol Sestancia 2 yet, but I expect it'll be just as good.

The map makes SRB2 crash, the map was starting to get really good halfway at "jungle crash site", when suddenly SRB2 just crashes at the 2d trees surrounded hallway, idk why it does that but it made me stop playing SRB2 all together a year ago, and the crash still hasn't been solved.

Otherwise, the map itself is great! It's a silly little mod with a fun YouTube sonic animated shorts adapted as an SRB2 mod.

Uhhhhhh can you add level select with all levels unlocked because I finished the mod yesterday and went back to play the best level in the mod (run) but I don't have my Sol Sestancia save data so I have to restart all over again. I would give 5 stars but I can't go back to replay levels so 4 stars.

I did not enjoy this level pack.

I can respect the amount of time and effort that went into the whole piece, and the many people behind it (barring the ai voice acting, as made through 15.ai and pointed out in the credits. That's something that has aged only worse with time, and I feel helped make for some of the more confusing mixed audio in parts of the pack), but I do not feel it made for a perfectly cognizant or fun playing experience. The level design is awkward and jumbled, rings will be splayed out awkwardly and not even in straight lines when they should be in areas, some hazards poorly done out, but any of my quibbles fail to compare to how unenjoyable I found the final level, RUN.

It feels like it's trying to draw influence from the Adventure games, but I do not seriously feel this game engine is perfectly adapted for a high speed character can not stay still platforming sequence, especially when accompanied with an omnipresent swarm of hitscanning turrets along every single inch of the levels length. Add in janky hitboxes for the abruptly sudden custom enemies, speed boosts for a ball sequence that quickly lose all momentum when you try and dodge and weave around the cars it throws at you, and most severely of all for my system (a Lenovo Gaming Laptop), intense screen tearing and lag during one sequence, and what I would have found to be a enjoyable experience came to a crawl of just awkward sections where I kept dying and dying again due to wonky checkpoint placement, and an inability to regain coins without instantly losing them and then dying.

I recognize this is coming on 3 years later, so I do not seriously expect nor demand severe overhauls to the level design or elements of it (aside from wishing the ai voice acting was removed, because Come On), but neither will I give it a load off with the fact that it is an earlier venture. Angel Island Tour was a map pack I really enjoyed - this made me feel ill with the screen splaying off into infinity during a section of its final level, consistently.

This is absolutely outstanding. Best map in this game. I love the story, music, level design, MY GOD THE LEVEL DESIGN. There are so many shortcuts, so many ways to skip tedious parts. And many fan-characters play like the level is made for them. Thank you for making this. I'm waiting for update 2.

I enjoyed the cartoonish style and the lovely aesthetic you gave each map. I also like the story you've come up with. I did like the emerald shard searches a bit.

However. Everything falls apart after the Egg Fleet. Maps get confusing and there is no sense of direction. Enemies are placed randomly and it's just chaos getting around.

I didn't find a single chaos emerald. I'm not sure if they're even in the maps. The last stage, RUN, is 100% god awful. It's a hassle controlling my character and being precise.

I get you want to be ambitious and make a set piece, but this is a modified doom engine. Only so much can work. Overall an okay add on.

The story of this map is amazing and reminds a lot of Sonic Adventure but it's an alternate story

This is the best srb2 addon EVER

This is the most enjoyable map pack I've played through so far, but RUN is almost rage-inducing with how fast the characters are going and the bonus stages are too easy.

This level pack relies extremely heavily on early 2000s nostalgia. As the description suggests, it's based heavily on platformers from that era, and I think especially the Sonic Adventure influence comes through, but in my opinion the overreliance on story and heavily linear gameplay that the Adventure series features is exacerbated here.
Almost every level is almost entirely a long hallway, and death pits abound if you fall off of them in the later ones. Enemy placement seems to be done based more on dramatic timing than anything else. Platforms are cramped and tight against walls. Springs aren't very well aligned and clumps seem to have been placed to make up for that.
That said, it's obvious a lot of love went into this, the textures are fun, and the soundtrack is overall pretty good. It just often feels like it was meant to be an animated cartoon rather than a game.

Should add the swamp boss dude! Game ends so suddenly, although super fun.
