Finally, after way too many years, we're back at the sun drenched island of Sol Sestancia 2.
First, you were there for a quick tour.
Second time, you had a relatively quiet romp trough the island's many attractions.

But this time, things are a little more dour. Our heroes are at their lowest point as Robotnik has taken over the island. They find themselves on the run, in constant danger and exploring the more dangerous parts of the island. But when you're at your lowest, things can only get better, so let's get to it.

Attention!
The game is split up in 2 versions, Regular and Arcade mode.
The regular version is the proper intended version with story sequences and Hub area's to talk to people.
Arcade mode has most of the intrusive story elements stripped away for speedrunners and multiplayer.
Emblems are de-activated in Arcade mode.
If the main menu shows Robotnik, it's the regular version, if it shows the island, you're playing arcade mode.

Featuring:
17 new maps. 14 main stages, one bonus level and 2 Pizza delivery bonus stages.

You'll be visiting all kinds of wacky locations, from the TV studio, a royal palace, junkyard, dry mountains.
All filled with endless terrible dad jokes and references.

....I eliminated as many glitches and problems I'm capable off, although there still might be slowdown here and there. Also one issue I'm aware of but not sure what to do about it, if you exit the escape Robotropolis tunnels levels while the timer was still running, the timer will be removed from the HUD until you either reset the game, or replay the level until the timer is stopped naturally.

Too many people to credit here that helped me, they're mentioned in the credits proper. Still, special thanks to the ones helping me with coding:

Latest reviews

Coming out of SRB2 retirement for this one.

This was honestly difficult for me to complete all things said and done
There were multiple sections that were just infuriating so I'm just going to rate each level

Lost City 4/5

Honestly a solid opening and way to catch up. Fang fight here was simple and entertaining, honestly surprised that Fang wasn't a recurring character with how this one plays so that's great. My biggest complaint is that the 3 year cliffhanger gets solved all in this first level.

Return to Alcudia 4/5

a nice opening story level, I have nothing to say about this level as it does a solid job of reminding us of the stakes of the situation!

Uptown 4.5/5

First level that stuck with me. Great song chosen, simple emerald location and it really sets the pace for the rest of the pack. My one complaint is that sometimes going building to building has it's sonic advance unfair death pit moments, I hope this isn't something that is recurring.

Royal Palace 4.5/5

Man this one is long but I loved it. Utterly beautiful stage to run around in and look at and is crucial to the story. I felt like I was in awe and wonder after I struggled with the first jump. Found it hard to know where I was supposed to go at points but overall great stage.

Knothole 3/5

Simple hub level, no complaints

Great Forest wall 3/5

Here one of my least favorite parts of the pack shows up, water that damages you while it makes the level harder, once you are in the water there's a good chance you're not surviving but hey, It's definitely better than having to deal with Uptown's death pits. The boss fight that happens here was a real treat to finish the stage with, love taking down tanks.

Robotropolis 3.5/5

Conveyor belt gimmick here makes sense, water that hurts you is back for no reason, I'm already a little tired of the gimmick by now. Amongsts the levels it's around it doesn't stick out as much

Egg TV network 3.5/5

This one stood out for it's "get killed by eggman section" which is a section so precise and unforgiving it was the first level that made me want to stop playing the pack. Combined with how SRB2 handles lives I would die 5 times in a row and have to restart the entire level to the point where this was the section i remembered the most.

Escape Robotropolis 2.5/5

This stage is everything I hate about this modpack, questionable gimmicks, not knowing where you are supposed to go and unforgiving platforming in the way of water that hurts you and death pits while it gives a sense of urgency and the pizza tower timer system was an entertaining gimmick I found moving platforms to be a chore in themselves to even get on. Chaos emerald here was a nightmare to find and get to. The running out of time deaths were on me, those water and deathpit one's were almost impossible to avoid this level made me ragequit so many times it's embarrassing. What this stage does well visually is overlooked by all the frustration it has caused.

Vs Orbot and Cubot 3/5

Glad this one wasn't a nightmare, Loved the "boss fight" that occurs here. What I didn't love is how every 10 seconds I got lost like a srb2 noob playing techno hill 2.

Convoy Assault 4.5/5

This level and the next one were my 2 favorite ones in the entire pack, this one matches the urgency of Sol Sestancia 1's first level while being similar in vibe alone. Stands out very well and is rewarding. Chaos emerald is in an interesting spot but Vector comes in cluth again. Boss fight that finishes stage is another highlight of the pack. My one complaint is that there is 1 annoying death pit but that one was just me being stubborn.

Island Cross 5/5

Best stage in the pack running around the Island with enough obstalces to not make it butt easy but not enough to make it frustrating to beat. Only does what the story needs it to do and is a great way to get straight to our final 2 stages.

Mt.Terracentro 3.5/5

Another pretty stage with questionable gimmicks branches work but feel iffy to work with and the crystals are simple to understand but lead to sections that can be infuriating didn't know the red ones were bad until I stepped on them but that problem can be avoided by going super sonic with the influx of rings that are here.

Heart of the world 4/5

Great final stage, solid final boss that throws whatever the frick it feels like at you, plethora of rings allows super sonic to cheese it for those who just want to be done. Ending is underwhelming and was hoping for the story to be over but hey, great job overall

The story 5/5

The story told here really completes the pack and makes it special combined with the humor that comes from said writing makes it truly special with each piece of dialogue having purpose and matching what Roger would do with these characters.

Overall 3.6/5

When all is said and done, this pack does a lot of things that most map packs aren't doing like having a story, hiding chaos emeralds and including bonus levels to enjoy afterwards. It's low points do bring it down more than they should but SRB2 pros will probably enjoy some of the challenge that comes from it. I am not an srb2 pro but I look forward to replaying the first and second sol sestancia soon and what ever Roger has in store for the third one.

One of the best level packs, I've played through it multiple times, even sitting through the cutscenes (which range from "charming" to "actually kind of great" the first time) every time until I noticed the arcade mode plugin just now.

The flow in most of these stages is incredible, and the vibes in the "cutscene" stages are actually pretty immaculate if you take the time to explore. Definitely looking forward to Part 3.

I really really like this map pack but I cannot stand listening to like 95% of it's soundtrack, went ahead and replaced most of it in slade for myself.

That's actually a really good mod with a better storyline and a lot scarier stuff that's happening. Also Sam Speed speed stage go. (Sonic X Theme here.)
