Welcome to NEO Emerald Coast!

===================================================================

This is my first original SRB2 map pack which features two acts, with a single act spanning around 3 minutes in lenght. This pack features custom title screen background, custom game data with Tight! record attack emblems and really pretty environments along with custom sprites. :> (With day time and lighting realistically changing throughout acts!1!1)

As you can see from the title and the screenshots, this stage is based around Emerald Coast and it's visual elements, enviroments and other stuff. But unlike in SA1 these stages have completely different vibe than the original, with help of the one and only sunset... With creative and wacky level design, gimmicks and new spins on existing sets of Emerald Coast's environments! Run through beaches, jungles, top of mountains, even through a whole tourist town on top of the sea and caves that a human eye never laid upon!
This is my last E.C oriented map, I swear :dramahog:

These stage in some places may play like sections from either SA1 with large open areas or SA2 with focused and "Don't think, just go!" sections. And this map pack was made with OPENGL in mind. You can still play these stages with SOFTWARE but It will make the sunset effect look worse and there might be more lag spikes due to some larger and more open areas.

It's getting late, winds are getting stronger, water is getting colder and the atmosphere is starting to calm down. But wait, this place wasn't on the tourist map? Maybe you took the wrong turn? Either way, this place doesn't look friendly so remember to stay on your toes. But wow, this place looks like it stayed here undiscovered for decades! It's fully natural, no human architecture in sight, but it still seems like someone already was here before you. Either way, time tore everything down and nature reclaimed what she lost.

As I said at the start, these stages are my first tries at original SRB2 or any Sonic game level design along with these stages being worked on throughout the time span of 7 months, so there might be random quality drops or some stuff might jut be badly planned. (Because I barely knew what I was doing at the time. :oh:)

This might extremly cheesy but... SRB2MB members for supporting me throughout all these 7 months of development on this map pack on the work in progress thread! :wow:

It’s almost done... Of course if school will let me. :C And I learned how to lock skyboxes in place which means that both acts will gain a pretty huge visual overhaul in the 1.1 update. :D

An excellent stage that I keep coming back to. I wish falling off the track was a bit more of an inconvenience and a bit less of an instant-death, and I'm just never going to be a huge fan of wind lifts, but the flow is excellent, the sense of speed is incredible, and I love the use of slopes, even requesting slope jumps at several places.

Add on to that an excellent atmosphere for both acts, and one that changes between acts at that, and you have a truly great zone.

I never had any issues with falling off course personaly. It puts up a small mind game for the player: ”Go fast and risk falling off? or take it slow but safe?” And when you see the water less as cusion but more as a really pretty death pit. It becomes more fun to pull off big leaps hoping you will land somewhere solid. And I think I made only one regular wind lift in this stage, and the thing is that’s the one at bottom path, if you gain enough speed in the cave to fly over the small lake you will never have any boring interactions with those. I’m happy that you liked this stage from every possible stand point, It seems that lineral level design isn’t that ”bad” and ”boring” after all! And I’m proud of how the visual aspect came out. I pulled it off perfectly in my opinion. (Probably the prettiest stage I’ll ever make in SRB2.)
And I like the idea of time-zones changing between acts like in some classic sonic stages, it’s not a lot but it’s enough to tell these acts apart and this also makes for even cooler act 2!
Thanks for the review! :D

Don't know to start this but holy shit, you improved A-LOT from your pervious maps, both of the maps are stunning af (love me some sunset-themed levels), the level design and details really good, my only problems are the amount of those Lance-a-Bot badniks, too many of them (but that's really just a personal bias thing/nitpick) other than that, the music is nice and really fits the level. I be looking forward what you are doing next!!! 10/10

You got me acting like a girl in a 2000s family movie when her crush texts her back. C: Also my reason for lance-a-bots is that they’re one of small amount of enemies in SRB2 that don’t have infinite detection distance so they won’t clot near the edge of the platform if you decide to take your time, and they can actually attack you and be an actual threat instead of slowly moving towards you. It’s also the same reason for adding a lot of robo-hoods.
