SRB2Kart v1.3 (Final Beta)
![]() Developer Last Online: Jan 2021
Kart Krew™ Discord: https://discordapp.com/invite/WJmqDtN ![]() ![]() -------------------------------------------- SeventhSentinel--err I mean, Sonic explains the v1.1 patch update -------------------------------------------- Spoiler: An important note Now without further ado, in Sryder's own words... ![]() SRB2Kart is a classic styled kart racer, complete with beautiful courses, and wacky items. Of course, because it’s SRB2Kart, it has a Sonic twist that really shows the classic charm that a lot of us know and love from the good old days™. We have 100 jam-packed maps for you to bump, explode, and sparkle your way through, from luscious beaches, to Eggman’s dance floor, to England on a good day. All lovingly crafted by many different people. You’ll notice almost every aspect of the game has an immense love and inspiration from the classic sonic games. From the items such as Ballhog, which literally throws bouncey explodey balls at people, to the maps which are bursting with that Sonic feel. Of course, you'll only start off with a few cups available, but you can unlock more by playing offline/online matches. Alternatively, you can immediately jump into challenging yourself and race us personally in Staff Attack mode! Don't worry, we'll go easy on you. Game Modes We have 2 game modes for you to choose from: Race, and Battle. Race mode is the normal: Race through the track to beat your opponents, use your items and skill to swooce past the competition, Oh my God what is that following behind me HELP! You know, the usual. Battle mode asks you to violently throw spikeballs at your friends until they have no bumpers and you have some. But watch out, they can come back with a vengeance and chase you to the ends of the earth afterwards! Or maybe if they’re feeling nice they might help you with a powered up item chance. Spoiler: Characters Bonus Included with the main download is bonuschars.kart. We don’t add it by default, but you can easily do so from the add-ons menu for many more characters to play with! A slew of extras, by a trio of our other devs in their free-time, as well as a few Community artists! The Various Other Things -Make sure to check out the in-game manual by pressing F1 or using the menu if you need some help or tips! -We’ve added some extra Quality of Life features from the vanilla game to help out, such as multi-admin and a chat system that is readable! -There’s a slight lack of documentation for modding currently, we’ll try and get on that as soon as we can. Music We plan to redo the crediting in some fashion eventually so all the track sources can be included in-game, but until then they'll all just be right here for very easy viewing! Spoiler: Miscellaneous Music Sources If you don't have the game, then you want the Full Install. If you already have v1.1 or higher, then you might want to use the Patch to save on download size, but it is otherwise functionally identical to using the full installer on the same folder. DOWNLOADS: Full Install (Windows) Patcher (Windows) (For version 1.3) Full Install (Mac) Spoiler: Linux Installation Instructions The changelogs for every single update can be found here: https://github.com/STJr/Kart-Public/releases MANUAL (F1 in-game) Mirror The non-Windows builds are experimental and haven't been tested nearly as much; if you have issues, you can always attempt to compile it for yourself on your own computer: http://wiki.srb2.org/wiki/Source_code_compiling source:git.do.srb2.org/KartKrew/Kart-Public Download Now

Sounds like you'd be better off using a character with a high turning ability, like Tails. That'll help if you keep crashing off the edge all the time.

For some reason I can't enter any mode when I enable the bonus characters. Anyone know how to fix this?

You cannot. Record Attack needs no modifications added in order to be played. If you wish to join a game, the server has to be using Bonuschars. If it is, just join without any mods like bonuschars active, and they will be added as you join.

In all seriousness though, when starting out if you just let go of accelerate as you go round turns you can go round pretty much anything easily with no drama (assuming you're not boosting towards the corner). You can then work up to drifting turns. If you want to drift tighter turns though you'll need to start drifting earlier than you probably think or you'll run too wide. It's a bummer if you don't like it though, I want as many people as possible to play so that there are always people to race :P |

I’m curious. Can I get a link to the SRB2 Kart sprites base? I wanna make my own character mods.

Is anyone else getting this "I_Error(): Z_Free: wrong id" error when trying to play online? I've been getting this error for a few hours now and it's starting to get on my nerves. Is there a fix for this?

Left this community (2019).

a few days later, I've got the slight hang of the controls.
while the old 2.0 control scheme doesn't work here, the new controls work very well, even better than the 2.0 control scheme. but the bumping... jeeeeeeeesus, if there was anything I hated about multiplayer, it's the exaggerated bumping here. it wasn't bad in 2.0, but good lord it's INSANE.

Slow down and drift less to start with. Sorry for just stating the obvious but there isn't really much else to it. As MK said, play some record attack :)

It is okay. I suck at this game too. I am guessing you are always last no matter what. Not just last but way last. Games suck if you are always last. They should really have a tutorial or something to help people like us. Maybe host a game and call it Newbies Only that way the good or regular players not show up and it would be more fair for you and everybody else.

Yeah gotta admit a large part of getting good comes from knowing the track.
From my own experience you're not supposed to perfect a track you've never tried before. Applies to any racing game, or any game actually lul When I played the stages for the first time, I was frustrated too (and I still am at the Eggman disco level) Also, if that can secure you, the 1 player time attack mode is played on the hardest difficulty (that is the "highest speed", 150CC you'd say in Mario Kart) So if you train enough offline, you'll eventually remember the tracks and get naturally good. Tails (or Eggman if you prefer "curved drifting") are also forgiving if you bump/fall a lot because they're slower and have more acceletation :>

This is just a minor issue for OP, the music source listed for Diamond Sqaure is actually incorrect. The correct source is: Touch And Go from Tekken 4, just wanted to bring it up in-case no one else did.
