Tangle the Lemur

Tangle the Lemur 1.0.2

good character with tons of potential speed, and charm!

though same issue as radicalwisper, with that using tail off of springs does not work! and going off a ledge, without jumping, makes it so her tail is also disabled for some reason.

other than those 2 issues, really good character! hope to see more stuff from you in the future! hopefully development pain doesnt drag ya down too much, hehe

really fast and agile character, needs a little fixing

after trying it a little more, i find the only issue i have with it is the fact that using springs causes tangle to be unable to use her ability until landing, and if you fall off a ledge, tangle mysteriously can't use her tail. it doesn't really make sense or feel good? it's also pretty hard to jump climb in some places quickly but this is a skill issue and less of a complaint

My favorite SRB2 Mod so far! It's a nice change from the usual "run, jump, double jump, homing attack" etc. It took me a bit to understand how it worked, but it's great!

Has to be my absolute favorite SRB2 character by FAR... and not only because she's my most favorite Sonic character in general. Really thrilled to see an update (that broken tail was bothering me).

I got her a while back and she's been my number 1 pick for custom maps every time. I just love her complex simplicity if that makes any sense. Just two special abilities- tail and triple jump -that, while takes a while to get used to, is so much fun with how versatile her tail is and how you can just swing around at insane speeds with proper use.

That skill floor is also what makes her feel not "cheaty" as many custom characters tend to be. No shade of course, they're still great fun, but I love the challenge that comes with handling Tangle properly and the reward of being able to go just about anywhere in a level. Combat and specially bosses can be a bit awkward, but I take that more as a con to a character with great pros.

Oh, and her being able to be paired up with Whisper now is just delightful. Although it kind of peeves me a little that you can't have Whisper put on her mask in the pair mode. Why doesn't she have it on by default, dammit?! She's running through dangerous levels without proper equipment!/hj

Overall, I enjoy the challenge that comes with handling her tail and the versatility you get with proper use. Great friggin' character.

... Also I got to talk about "handling tail" a lot. :V

I had a nerd fit when i saw this cuz i love the Idw comics. aside from that she is great to play as and trust me when I say give her a chance. It takes some geting used to but when you finish getting used to it, you ascend.

I'm sorry, I just can't help hut HATE how she controls. It's bad enough that her swinging controls are finicky and almost way too hard to actually use decently (there's a reason Spider-Man always auto-aims in video games), but sometimes it feels like certain actions just don't register. Sometimes attempting to jump sends out her tail despite still being grounded. Trying to use her tail to attack enemies nearby will often latch on to the ground instead despite the reticle, and this can happen over and over and over again. If anything, why can't she jump the way Sonic can? I can see why characters like Fang and Amy can't, but why not Tangle? It would certainly improve her offense, cuz otherwise you can barely attack enemies.

... Anger aside, I do have suggestions for a rework, since this honestly kinda sucks. If you'll allow it, I'm going to put them out on the table for ya:

1. If you don't make swinging automated, for god's sake, add an autoaim toggle. It's frustrating, attempting to latch on to a wall only to be literally BARELY out of reach and promptly plummet to your death.

2. Remove the ground grab for midair. I think she'd be fine without it, since unlike Tails she doesn't drop slowly. Maybe like a payoff; ludicrous height and speed at the cost of a fast way to the ground.

3. Give her a spin jump like Sonic. Her tail as offense barely works, and is kind of a dumb idea anyways since it forces you to literally stop to attack enemies/bosses. (plus, she'd likely be unable to beat CEZ3, much like plenty of other characters without a spin jump.)

4. Maybe add a move where pressing spin either when still or moving or even airborne, you swing your tail like Marine or like Mario with the Racoon Leaf. Holding it continues spinning (albeit unable to gain momentum and slowed a bit,) and the first enemy in range gets grabbed and swung around. Letting go of spin then throws the enemy forward, dealing damage to other enemies or bosses.

It's a fantastic character to play as. Tangle might feel more at home with her best friend whisper the wolf

Like one or other has said, at first it's hard to pick up the abilities and tricks, but once you get used to it's hell of fun and worth showing off on servers.
The only thing I haven't mastered yet is being able to get unstuck from a quicksand quickly.

My god, Tangle knocks it right out of the park with probably the most fun movement options I have seen any other characters do. Playing your nifty cards right with Tangle is greatly rewarded and careful consideration was put into that tail, let me tell you.

A good or great grapple across the walls or ceilings FLINGS you away at high speeds where I constantly feel like "Man, would it be great to have sections dedicated to this sort of moveset." Some Knuckle paths allow for some crazy shenanigans to unfold, and if the level allows it (which it mostly does), you really can get a lot of mileage out of Tangle when you get over that initial barrier of figuring out when and where to fling your tail. Yet I bet there is some very, VERY good potential here for exclusive long winding parts with grapple spots.

Where the character loses its appeal happens somewhat towards cramped, focused platforming challenges where a previous setup for speed was not really possible. Especially around trying to reach a bit too high sector with Tangle is proven to be a slog. Either a double jump needs to be executed from a far enough distance to clear the height, or a good enough grapple towards the wall. If that is what you're doing for the majority, the level drags on for a bit and I would rather switch to something else to clear these gaps faster.

Neitherthanless, Tangle is effort downright awesome and what you got here is really something special. If the level allows for it, man, is it a gem to play.

Amazing mod. Tangle is really fun to play as, the controls are a bit difficult to get used to, but that's the nature of her character. I had a very fun time playing with her

tangle is so fun to swing around and play with, she is definitely a character i'm gonna enjoy playing for a while, until i inevitably burn myself out with them like i did with skip and rchars

Tried it out, it's awesome! Now i can reach higher areas with my tail! Anyways, I would recommend this mod. as Amy once said, "Cool, sweet and catchy!"

Oh, how I've longed for a proper grappling hook-esque character in SRB2, and my prayers are finally answered with the lovable lemur herself. Had an absolute blast playing her for the first time with a buddy and I love how many skips and shortcuts she's capable of!

Wow I was about to ask about why didn't anyone make a Tangle the Lemur mod yet? This one is sick, even better than what I imagined.

She is difficult to use, but when you get used to the abilities is very fun, she is a great character

I always thought about what it would've been like to swing around in SRB2, and it's even better than I expected! I think the grounded tail thing that homes in on nearby enemies has low range, I also think It would be easier to swing around in 3rd person with a crosshair of some sort. Despite all that, this is a very well-made character.

really makes you FEEL like spiderman

Man, she really does say "Water? What's that?" huh. I love it.

A solid character overall, the only thing that should be adressed in my opinion is how the tail abilities switch inputs depending if you're airborne or not, it can really mess you.

Like, when grounded, you extend your tail if you're not moving, but if you're moving, it anchors on the ground, but i't the complete opposite if you're airborne.

The Triple Jump is fine i guess but her moveset doesn't really need it, she's already great with just the tail mechanic.

Great presentation btw, the sprites are QUALITY.
