Boyfriend's spendin' this friday in Greenflower!
[FUN FACT! BF NOW HAS A MODEL FEATURED OVER HERE AT THE PIKOPACK!]
Greetings! It's heavily likely you recognize this guy, he's been in progress for a while now (over a year!).
We finally thought it was time to let him out into the wild, in an unfinished state.
He is missing most of his sprites (cause I've been lazy), but his moveset is practically finished.
Please do provide any feedback possible, most of this stuff has planned rewrites anyway.
From the Funkin' Chars dev team, we hope you have fun!
Last things to note!
- if you press Spin while moving, you'll enter a slide, allowing you to enter spin paths in case you find Knux and Amy paths to be less desirable. THIS WILL BE REMOVED SOON. PROMISE. DONT ADAPT TO THIS ABILITY, it SUCKS.
- If you've got a projectile flying at you (for example, a Robohood's arrow), there'll be a special pop-up on the screen where a Warning Note is at the top of the screen! If you press Custom 1 when the rising warning note comes into contact with the stationary warning note (similar to actual FNF), then you'll dodge the incoming projectile!
- Double jumping puts an arrow above your head that just throws your mic upwards. Yeah. Will be changed eventually.
- BF's main ability is designed around first-person, meaning it is HEAVILY recommended you play him in OpenGL and first-person. While playable in Software and third-person, it is not recommended and may hinder enjoyment.
While we'd prefer you find these on your own, if you'd prefer to have a checklist of things to check out then here's that.
And last, but not least.
Again, us from the Funkin' Chars dev team hope you have as much fun playing Boyfriend as we had making him!

First up, BF's main ability! His Microphone!
No, not like that, silly! It's more like...
this!
See, if you hold spin, you toss out your microphone in the direction the camera is facing. If you were to then jump while holding spin, it pulls you in! You can even pull yourself while it's flying through the air!
It also damages enemies when it's tossed, and if you let go of spin, then it comes flying back to you like a boomerang, still dealing damage to enemies!
Be wary, though! You've only got one of these! If you get reckless and toss your mic into lava or a death pit, then it's gone! (until you respawn.) You'll have to rely on your other moves! Speaking of which...

What's this? Something entirely new?
Thanks to Girlfriend's demon powers, Boyfriend can now harness the energy of the notes he's always rapping with!
Each note will be split into their own section, for pure convenience.
First up, the Red and Purple notes. Or as I've nicknamed them, the Speed Notes.
To place these down, press Custom 1 while holding left, right, or forwards. They do exactly what they say on the tin, collide with them and you're given a burst of speed.
Next up, the Green note! As I've nicknamed it, the Jump Note.
Same placing method as before, (you'll see that.) but this time you don't hold any direction! Same as before, just what it says on the tin, collide and you're given a short bit of wind-up before you blast off into the air!
Short intermission to say, if you place down both a Speed Note and a Jump Note and dash into them, you keep the speed and you're given an instant burst into the air instead of the bit of wind-up! Great for crossing large gaps!
Next up, the Blue note! In other terms, the Smash Note.
Same placing method, but hold backwards. This one, while similar to what it says on the tin, needs a better explanation! When you collide with this note, you're given a short bit of pure invincibility. During this, you are made very heavy as a balance to on-command invincibility, though when you land from a jump or a fall you cause a shockwave, damaging nearby enemies.
That's all for the Notes!

The Metal Sonic boss fight in BCZ2 is immune to damage from your microphone, meaning the Smash Note is your only method of damaging him. We've decided to call it a feature and say that you'll use your microphone the most during your run, meaning Metal prepared and is immune to it, incentivizing you to use your other abilities more often.
That's all for the Notes!

- Try loading up Cosmetics, RsNEO, or even Battlemod (lite support.) with Boyfriend for some special stuff!
- While a bit silly to include considering the RsNEO support, if you press Toss Flag then BF will enter a fun little rapping mode! Press your movement keys to annoy your friends.
- While a strange suggestion compared to every other mod, consider pk3digging!We've I've hid some fun stuff in there!
- Boyfriend has compatibility with Kirby! I'm sure you can figure out what his ability is.
- Try dying. It's fun.
- He has an OOF_ALAR in the files for compatibility with CrossMomentum, but it doesn't work for some unknown reason. If any of you can figure out why and get it workin', I'll add you to the credits.

BuggieTheBug - Coding this whole thing. This project likely wouldn't have ended up anywhere without them agreeing to make my silly idea.
Sonc - The CSS artist. HUGE thanks to him for making art about 3 to 5 times, just for this silly little mod. I'm begging you to check him out, he's sick.
Ms. Moon - While their work is not featured here yet, they are the map maker working on a Tutorial map for Boyfriend!
Everybody in the Salt's Spriting Station thread in the SRB2 OS - You bunch know who you are. Thank you for showing interest, giving support, and providing feedback.
