[FUN FACT! BF NOW HAS A MODEL FEATURED OVER HERE AT THE PIKOPACK!]
srb20008.gif

Greetings! It's heavily likely you recognize this guy, he's been in progress for a while now (over a year!).
We finally thought it was time to let him out into the wild, in an unfinished state.
He is missing most of his sprites (cause I've been lazy), but his moveset is practically finished.
Please do provide any feedback possible, most of this stuff has planned rewrites anyway.

From the Funkin' Chars dev team, we hope you have fun!
bf art for mb.png

First up, BF's main ability! His Microphone!
left.png

No, not like that, silly! It's more like...
bf tutorial spin wall.png

this!
See, if you hold spin, you toss out your microphone in the direction the camera is facing. If you were to then jump while holding spin, it pulls you in! You can even pull yourself while it's flying through the air!
srb20296.gif

It also damages enemies when it's tossed, and if you let go of spin, then it comes flying back to you like a boomerang, still dealing damage to enemies!
srb20295.gif

Be wary, though! You've only got one of these! If you get reckless and toss your mic into lava or a death pit, then it's gone! (until you respawn.) You'll have to rely on your other moves! Speaking of which...
What's this? Something entirely new?
Thanks to Girlfriend's demon powers, Boyfriend can now harness the energy of the notes he's always rapping with!
Each note will be split into their own section, for pure convenience.

srb2 bf speed notes.png

First up, the Red and Purple notes. Or as I've nicknamed them, the Speed Notes.
To place these down, press Custom 1 while holding left, right, or forwards. They do exactly what they say on the tin, collide with them and you're given a burst of speed.
srb20298.gif

srb2 bf jump note.png

Next up, the Green note! As I've nicknamed it, the Jump Note.
Same placing method as before, (you'll see that.) but this time you don't hold any direction! Same as before, just what it says on the tin, collide and you're given a short bit of wind-up before you blast off into the air!
srb20297.gif

Short intermission to say, if you place down both a Speed Note and a Jump Note and dash into them, you keep the speed and you're given an instant burst into the air instead of the bit of wind-up! Great for crossing large gaps!
srb20299.gif

srb2 bf smash note.png

Next up, the Blue note! In other terms, the Smash Note.
Same placing method, but hold backwards. This one, while similar to what it says on the tin, needs a better explanation! When you collide with this note, you're given a short bit of pure invincibility. During this, you are made very heavy as a balance to on-command invincibility, though when you land from a jump or a fall you cause a shockwave, damaging nearby enemies.
srb20300.gif

The Metal Sonic boss fight in BCZ2 is immune to damage from your microphone, meaning the Smash Note is your only method of damaging him. We've decided to call it a feature and say that you'll use your microphone the most during your run, meaning Metal prepared and is immune to it, incentivizing you to use your other abilities more often.

That's all for the Notes!

Last things to note!
- if you press Spin while moving, you'll enter a slide, allowing you to enter spin paths in case you find Knux and Amy paths to be less desirable. THIS WILL BE REMOVED SOON. PROMISE. DONT ADAPT TO THIS ABILITY, it SUCKS.
- If you've got a projectile flying at you (for example, a Robohood's arrow), there'll be a special pop-up on the screen where a Warning Note is at the top of the screen! If you press Custom 1 when the rising warning note comes into contact with the stationary warning note (similar to actual FNF), then you'll dodge the incoming projectile!
- Double jumping puts an arrow above your head that just throws your mic upwards. Yeah. Will be changed eventually.
- BF's main ability is designed around first-person, meaning it is HEAVILY recommended you play him in OpenGL and first-person. While playable in Software and third-person, it is not recommended and may hinder enjoyment.

While we'd prefer you find these on your own, if you'd prefer to have a checklist of things to check out then here's that.
- Try loading up Cosmetics, RsNEO, or even Battlemod (lite support.) with Boyfriend for some special stuff!
- While a bit silly to include considering the RsNEO support, if you press Toss Flag then BF will enter a fun little rapping mode! Press your movement keys to annoy your friends.
- While a strange suggestion compared to every other mod, consider pk3digging! We've I've hid some fun stuff in there!
- Boyfriend has compatibility with Kirby! I'm sure you can figure out what his ability is.
- Try dying. It's fun.
srb20303.gif

- He has an OOF_ALAR in the files for compatibility with CrossMomentum, but it doesn't work for some unknown reason. If any of you can figure out why and get it workin', I'll add you to the credits.

And last, but not least.
BuggieTheBug - Coding this whole thing. This project likely wouldn't have ended up anywhere without them agreeing to make my silly idea.
Sonc - The CSS artist. HUGE thanks to him for making art about 3 to 5 times, just for this silly little mod. I'm begging you to check him out, he's sick.
Ms. Moon - While their work is not featured here yet, they are the map maker working on a Tutorial map for Boyfriend!
Everybody in the Salt's Spriting Station thread in the SRB2 OS - You bunch know who you are. Thank you for showing interest, giving support, and providing feedback.
Again, us from the Funkin' Chars dev team hope you have as much fun playing Boyfriend as we had making him!

FnF stinky, but great lua scripting for this mod!

Not bad, would've been cool (and would've made sense due to Sonic logic) if he was a furry like everyone else (Sonic.EXE 3.0 is a good reference to this)

I tried out this mod and all I'm gonna say is that the mod is pretty good but it does have some issues mostly since the mod was unfinished which I can understand why.

For the moveset, It's a pretty nice moveset idea/concept and it was somewhat fun to use in the game even though there are some bugs in it.

For the sprites, They feel very unfinished as most of the sprites are the idle sprites which kinda makes the character lifeless, but since this is unfinished, there could be a chance that most sprites would be added like the walking, running, jump, death, and spin animations to the mod.

Overall, I think the mod is a good attempt but needs some improvement since a lot of things are unfinished so I'll give you a 3 star for now. But hey!, At least you tried! And since more updates might be planned, I think it would be nice to see the mod get some improvement during it's updates!

This is very epic. The moveset is creative and very epic. The moveset could use a little fixing (especially with the mic) but it is truly one of the movesets of all time. Tho it is kinda hard to get used to (or im just bad). Very good work on Buggie The Bug's part.

Now the sprites. Oh, the sprites are so, so so VERY ok for what they are right now. Definitely needs some work but for now it will work considering in fnf you literally just stand there and sing so you prob didn't have a reference for other sprites.

I give it 4 stars because of the sprites not being done but the moveset, while it is really not my cup of tea, is very good.

Keep up the good work!

The code is very old so it is expected to be kinds rough.
This mod is still a W.I.P so they will come later.
I might do something about the code later too...

Well, I think BF as a character is kind of eh. It's not bad but not good either.

The Sprites (3/5)

While it's funny to see BF just slideee across the floor, I wish he had a rolling animation so it doesn't just feel.. unfinished and awkward. Otherwise, they're fine sprites, nothing noteworthy but nothing bad.

The Moveset (2.7/5)

I may or may not have a bias against mods that use up custom buttons until they run out but I feel as if BF has way too many moves.
The slide feels really unnecessary. If you already have an attacking move, why have another one that could potentially slow you down when clearing a level?
The arrows are good but I wish they had a tutorial of sorts (sort of like Cacee) because I'm just here wondering what most of these do.
Mic is probably my favourite one, but I wish it was like an actual grapple like maybe BF can cling onto walls to climb them so that if his roll gets removed, he can get the first token in GFZ1 without any huge trickery.

Conclusion (2.5/10)

BF can be fixed upon some parts as he's still really unfinished. He's fine but I wouldn't use him constantly.

This is actually a very fair and well-formed review, thank you!
It's very likely and possibly planned that the slide will be cut from his moveset down the line as there's really not a point to letting him through every route, and it's caused multiple deaths and speedrun fails back in testing.
Boyfriend does also have a tutorial level in the works! Didn't make it in time for his release due to a whole debacle about his double jump ability, though. Might consider moving the notes/arrows to that, actually..
All in all, thank you for the genuine feedback! It's very appreciated!

Sorry BuggyTheBug. Not this time.

Okay. I've been waiting for this mod. It seemed okay to me. But now I've played it and.............................I can't say much about it.
How the concept handles normal. But as a stuffing this mod is not. Moveset is awesome. But I did not want our favorite hero from Friday Night Funkin. Flying. We already have plenty of characters with flying and so on. Even my character in Arma Form has flight instead of two abilities. It's a "D" because I think the sprites could have been finished. For example, walking, running and so on. It would be fresh and would put more than two. But as it is here....Get it. Sorry really BuggTheBug. You surprised me badly with the abilities from Friday Night Funkin.

The mod is fun but The only Sprites are just Standing

Yeah, his sprites are entirely unfinished, mostly cause I've just been lazy. Mark my words, though, they will be finished someday.
