Finally, a game mode for emblem collection enthusiasts!
All 6 of you!
Emblem.png
Emblem Hunt is a cooperative game mode where players are tasked with collecting all of a stage's emblems in order to advance. It really is that simple!

Help your friends explore every nook and cranny of a stage.png

- How it works -
When a map is loaded in Emblem Hunt mode, emblems are placed in the same positions as their single player counterparts, so there's no need to worry about non-stage emblems such as the record attack rewards. If a stage has no emblems in it by default (such as in Techno Legacy Zone), a single goal emblem will be placed at the very end of the stage. Get to the goal to win!

For those looking to change things up a little, emblems can also be configured to spawn on top of emerald tokens! But be careful, some of these are very devilishly hidden...

Look high and low.png

Whether you're looking for emblems in their original places or on top of emerald tokens, a handy dandy radar will always be at your side to help you locate any well hidden goodies, so keep your eyes peeled and your ears open!

If you reach the end of the level but still haven't found everything, fret not! Emblem Hunt also comes with a convenient checkpoint warp system to take you to any checkpoint you have already passed on your way! Simply approach any checkpoint and press [Toss Flag] to enter the checkpoint warp menu.

- Mod compatibility -

Emblem Hunt should be fully compatible with all kinds of character mods. Finding emblems with Sonic & co. is fine and all, but finding emblems is at its most fun when everyone picks a different character and uses their full potential to find everything!

Cacee manages to squeeze through AGZ's bars to nab an emblem.png
Adventure Sonic bounces his way to an up high emblem.png

However, custom maps do not have as high of a success chance given the amount of freedom map makers have to place emblems and goal posts. There is a small chance the mod may be updated in the future to include popular map packs, but there is no complete guarantee of that. Please understand.

Currently tested and fully functioning working level packs:
  • Mystic Realm + Community Edition
  • Sonic 06 map pack
    • Has some issues in xmas modes 2 and 3, but otherwise is 100% playable
  • 2.1 map pack
    • One of the emblems in ACZ may cause a softlock since debris will fall on top of it if not reached without touching the ground, an intended design decision from v2.1. A map reload will be necessary.

- Console commands -

eh_emblems - Determines where Emblem Hunt's goal emblems will be placed when a map is loaded. Has three modes:
  • 1 - Place goal emblems only where emerald tokens would originally be
  • 2 - Place emblems only on top of the map's original emblems (default option)
  • 3 - Place emblems for both emerald tokens and map emblems! Not for the faint of heart!

eh_checkpoints - Changes how checkpoint warping behaves. Has two modes:
  • 1 - Make all checkpoints before your most recent one active and warpable (default option)
  • 2 - Make checkpoints behave like in Shadow the Hedgehog, where only the checkpoints you touched become warpable

eh_super - Allows characters to use their super forms in Emblem Hunt mode. Keep in mind this command will not affect custom gems such as Mystic Realm's key stones and black emerald, not Rush Chars' sol emeralds.
  • 1 - Enable super forms by giving everyone all 7 emeralds
  • 2 - Strips away all chaos emeralds (default option)

eh_xmas - It's the jolliest time of the year once again! Enable this command to swap out the goal emblems for xmas presents! Comes with four modes:
  • 0 - Disable xmas mode (default option)
  • 1 - Change all emblems to presents
  • 2 - Enable presents and also change the stage's sky and weather
  • 3 - Presents, weather changes, and a nice blue night time tint over the stages! OpenGL mode recommended.

- Questions & answers -

Yes! Or at least it should, in theory. The way SUGOI handles its stage end emblems is by placing them at the very corners of the maps and moving them towards the players when a level is completed, supposedly making them impossible to collect in Emblem Hunt. This has been accounted for, and if a future port of the SUGOI packs is released using the same system then EH should be able to handle it no problem!

Unfortunately no. Emblem hints are not accessible through lua yet, and as such it would be impossible to add hints in without adding every single one manually, which would be more effort than it's worth since the radar already works quite well for tracking down emblems.
