Composite textures where pieces can be animated separately from the pieced together texture.

The pieces would have to still be set up like normal animated textures, but one piece would not need to last as long or animate as fast as another. It could also help with building Casino Night zone style complex animated textures so they don't need over 64 frames just because there are 2 pallete cycles and they don't last as long as each other.

I may be the minority of this and a newcomer, but when I look back at the trailer of the Conker's Bad Fur Day mod from years ago (not counting SRB2 Kart's versIon), it got me thinking: Why has no one updated the graphics or made new sprite artwork for these? I know it's a bit complicated, but I stink when it comes to drawing sprites good. I mean the mod of that part of SRB2 is okay, but it wouldn't hurt to see an update on it.

Are you...asking for someone to update a mod? Because the sprites for SRB2 have been completely redone multiple times.

Rule 15. Read it and never post things like this.

Something I think would be cool would be speed sensitivity for the spin sprites. The faster you're moving horizontally, the more squished inward into disks they get. This would preferably be handled dynamically rather than actually being sprited out manually, both to make it more smooth and to reduce workload for character modders.

Remaster all the textures, sprites and musics
congratulations! you have successfully delayed the update by another two years

i think the art direction could do with a little bit of refocusing (it's nowhere near as colourful or defined as ring racers) but i don't think it's necessary right now.

the soundtrack on the other hand does not need a complete revamp the ost rocks

I've been going through addons using the tagging system and I've found a lot of cool maps and scripts for Tag and Match.
Then a thought occurred, "Why can't we make collections of addons on the MB itself?"

I think the idea of putting addon packs together and displaying them in the forums would allow a lot more accessibility for casual fans of modded SRB2, It could be built into this site similar to curseforge modpacks. Instead of meticulously looking for addons or relying solely on servers, users could click the "Addon Packs" tab and look through that.

There is the issue of ensuring quality and the frequency of submissions, addon packs would inherently be easier to create and that could cause a spam issue. It would take too much time to judge and could take focus away from actual addons that need to be screened.

It's a cool idea though, I would love to see it implemented in some sort of way! I would also like to hear anyone else's take on this idea.

I think I have a cool suggestion for an add-on, if it's okay to post it here.

So you know that character switching machine from the ULDCs and OLDCs?

Why not make an add-on that places it at the beginning of any level? I think that would be pretty cool.

Honestly it would be cool if something similar could be implemented into the base game. There's been talk in the past about potentially adding in a world map type thing that tracks the player's progress from zone to zone in the main campaign. Would be cool if between zones you spawned into a hub type location with access to a character select machine and the world map, allowing the player to choose which character they want to play as from zone to zone, and even return to levels they've already beaten. This way, zone progress would be universal between characters instead of each character having to take up an entire save slot.

As an added point, this could potentially open up potential for save select specific unlocks so that multiple players on the same copy of SRB2 can easily and accessibly have their own save data unlock progress such as emblems and pandora's box on their own save select slots. Friends, siblings, etc. could unlock everything for themselves if they don't want to share, and not just have it unlocked because someone else already did it.

support for a world map, or adventure style or Hexen Style world map system would be nice, so long as the classic linear level to level thing is still an option.

Come to think of it, SRB2 the Past could benifit from an adventure map type system.

It should be easy enough. Maybe a Sonic 4 style "Progress straight to next Zone" button option you can press when you clear the boss acts?

No offense, but ew no. I hated how sonic 4 (All episodes) did it and I would not want it for my mods either.

SRB2 the Past already uses a series of hub maps, but in the upcoming update each level will return you to the same spot in the hub you accessed the level from. It would be nice to be able to spawn the player in front of the level they finished instead.

I don't think it's likely that base SRB2 is getting a full hub world, considering the pathway Sonic and friends take being more of a line rather than back and forth across a general area. Less Sonic Adventure and more Sonic Advance 2.
