^_^

v6 changelog (summative, may be inaccurate in some areas):
Overhauled player spritesheet
Focused on being a mix of mid-2005 Uekawa and the SRB2 artstyle. GREENEYES!!!! :D
HUD Resprite + A new addition!
All HUDs have been replaced with more accurate, HQ verisons, and a new Unwiished-style HUD!
Dedicated game flair/options menu
Replaces the function of v5's commands, and expands it in some areas!
New abilities!
Modern Sonic can now execute the Sweet Spot Homing and the Humming Top!
Ringspeed
A new mechanic derived from Sonic Unleashed (X360/PS3) that increases your topspeed, acceleration, and airspeed relative to the number of rings you bank.
Combo system
Defeating enemies in succession, tricking, basically anything like an action chain will grant you score depending on the volume and length of the combo!
Many physics/velocity related adjustments
General QoL adjustments that modifies most moves to preserve velocity better, very boringggg :(
VFX Overhaul
Additive blending, smooth trails, extra details, and HQ effects all around!!!!
Drifting Overhaul
Drifting now, by default, works like it's source material, increasing your turn radius at the slight cost of some velocity. Drifting also gives boost energy when running, and slows drain when boosting. It is bound to Fire and Fire Normal, and has playstyle options. Playstyles dictate the behavior of it's execution, being Manual (press drift buttons to drift), Automatic (ala v5, turning sharply initiates a drift until you stop turning sharply), and Hybrid (both styles enabled at once).
Wallcling/Walljump overhaul
The wallcling has gotten a major rework, improving responsiveness, collision detection, and fluidity. Walljumping is overall slower, floatier, and easier to influence, this is for balance reasons, as Frame-perfect (not a final name, internally called a Firstie) walljumps exist. Like their namesake, you perform these by walljumping on the first few frames of wallclinging. These preserve 100% of your velocity before clinging, sending you off relative to a wall's angle. These are difficult to aim and control, so be thoughtful on using these!
SOOOO MANY BUGFIXES!!!
There are too many, and too niche that I can remember, just take my word that previously existing bugs are gone!

v6 is a very large, long-standing passion project that is still in development (netgame QA testing still hasn't happened!!!!), but is well worth the wait. It completely changes the mod as whole, and is meant to be the final update to the mod. Anything after this will only be patches/adjustments to existing content in the update. This update is a sendoff for some of us, so please let everyone involved take their time!

Progress is steady but slow (bcuz y'know >:3), it's crazy to think the update has been ongoing for nearly 3 YEARS and has gone through controversy, had so many people contribute, and has been an active discussion point for a longgg time :3. I'm really hoping this is the last time I need to update on things, it's pretty much just patient waiting and polish from here on. I'd show stuff but it's either heavily classified, or just too niche/uninteresting to show. There are internal release windows (some on important Sonic-related dates), so it's only a matter of time to see if they're met.

Honestly after this releases I'm probably gonna fade away and chill out, watch you guys lose it at things I've known for years, and just see what I waited for so long. Unless you guys manage to ask a question too good to ignore, this is truly (I MEAN IT :D) the last significant post I'll do. Thank you for making me a niche, somewhat known name in the community!

kaz out!!!! :3
Your welcome!

Thanks for your contribution kaz! your updates are pretty much the reason why for a while now I've been following the development of this mod almost daily lol

I wish you and the entire team the best, I also wish that the final stages of the mod go smoothly, even if it takes months longer than the internal launch window

take care kaz!!

Oh.. okay now I understand why? Can anyone explain what's wrong with the generations drift?
It looks ass, It's literally just a spin dash. The unleashed drift actually looks good and it looks like he's actually drifting.
Hi! I'm new to the discussion of modern sonic v6! So what's going on with the update?
New update is going to have new sprites, effects, new moves etc. New hud styles too.
Ok guys hear me out...

Hmm, that is a good guess...

I will be looking forward to this update of Modern Sonic.
In the meantime I'll settle for 5.12.
If something new arrives, let me know.
Sure!

Didn't you say v6 should release on June 23rd?
No no it maybe release on june 23rd maybe because kaz said that it may release on an important sonic related date so the closest sonic related date we have is his birthday on june 23rd

Also i think the devs are already on the bug fixing part of the project so its just an matter of time until we finally boost through every stage with modern v6

I'm not part of the Modern Sonic team, but as a modder I am begging you all to stop speculating about mod release dates. It just creates undue expectations and places unnecessary pressure upon the modding team, while also setting you up for disappointment.

The mod will release when it's done. It could be this year, next year, or even later. We don't know.

But we got the compatibility issues left... what else is there?

Thank god, someone actually said this

I don't know but I don't think it matters. There could be a lot they're putting into the mod that they haven't told you about yet. We are outsiders and we don't know what appears to be going on inside, so we shouldn't act like we have any clue if it's close to releasing or not. I understand you are all excited, but you should wait for official word on that front.

you are 100% right, It's not a job they're being paid to do and there's a deadline, It's a mod made out of love for the character and that's it

I'm sorry, that's just unnecessary to comment on. Please stay on topic. On another note, will Modern Sonic have other abilities that are from Frontiers? It doesn't have to be Frontiers moves.
Technically, I was staying on topic with my reply which was about the release date thing, so stop trying to start stuff with me also they say this multiple times, that v6 will not have any stuff from Frontiers

Unfortunately, none of the Modern Sonic V6 abilities will be related to Frontiers.

I know that you were staying on topic about the release date speculation, but you were still kind of off-topic. Saying "Thank god, someone actually said this" or "Oh my god, someone finally said something reasonable for once." that you should say in you're head. Instead of posting it on a thread, or discussion thread.

I realized that I should've gone through the discussion thread at first, but that's interesting. Hopefully, the progress goes through (If not, then that's okay)!
