Think what breaks the wall jump for me is that i just can't find good spots to use it that won't end up making it longer in the end, i think it suffers a bit more in open stages- its like i need to force myself to try and use it (like the lightspeed dash but thats worse lol), as for nerfing it i can see why they would wanna nerf it a bit, i mean its an infinite wall jump that if used in the right spots (according to you) snaps a level in half, balancing and all that. do you have any idea why the wall detection is like like this? i swear it didn't use to be like this a few game patches ago....
I mean, just find walls that's close together also yeah, it's not meant to use in open area like that (unless it's have walls) only in certain parts. As for the wall detection thing, I honestly don't why this happens, sometimes it's works, sometimes it don't
(here's a example video of what's I'm talking about)
Srb2 mods are made out of passion and free time
Most of them does not have release dates to not stress out the modders.
People have life's. they can't work on something all the time bcs of a stupid release date
Just be patient and wait for it to release whenever they want to
As simple as it can be, I can understand why some people don't see how we can't nail a release window. So I'll do you a favor and put it as simply and concise as I can, this might be repetitive but it's more summative, so this'll help!
Modern Sonic is a passion project worked on by a whole bunch of functional, job-working adults, which means there's VERY little freetime and motivation to be working on something like this. So progress is done at a non-standard, unpredictable rate, it just happens whenever it is felt like it can be done. Trying to set a deadline or set date for things to be complete is ambitious, and can overwork or burnout those working on it! To ask for a release date means you're asking to crunch everyone working on it!
Now what is crunching? Crunching, by definition, is compulsively working on a project for extreme hours (say 13-16 hours a day) for an extended period of time (typically 2-3 weeks and beyond). Doing this can destruct both the quality and the mental/physical health of those working on it. Forcing people to work on a passion project, unpaid, while having to work an actual job, and live their lives is extreme.
Please be more considerate of what is going on outside of the team's lives' outside of development, and remember that everyone is a person just like you!
I really hope this is the last time I'll have to acknowledge this, kaz out!
Stop asking for news, stop asking for updates, please.
There is no significant progress being done right now, other than compatibility with 2.2.11 and later. Everyone who has asked is basically asking for scraps at this point, and it makes it clear that I need to say this: Modern Sonic is not the sole focus of work for most of the team.
Now why? A significant portion of the team have worked on or are working on multiple projects in tandem. Some examples? BlueBlur has been fiddling around with XSonic, despite the fact he is the one spiriting the last couple of sprites needed for completion. The pioneer of this entire mod, MotdSpork, has moved onto working on Duke v2 despite the fact he needs to patch up some things with v6. Other than having other things to do, interest with v6 can just die down and become outright chore-like to work with. Remember that this mod has been in the works for nearly 3 years at this point, just on and off constantly working on the same thing OVER and OVER again. It's fun for you that first couple of months but then just turns to endless amounts of searching, coordinating, and lost hours over something you're doing for free and the fun of it. That work cycle excludes the first point I made, and it makes it seem a lot more considerate for why this project has suddenly been stuck in the mud.
Please stop getting your hopes up that something major just suddenly pops up right now, but do remember that this will be finished sometime long from now.
To brighten up and do this truly one last time , v6 is not missing any major components or pieces to the puzzle, it is just extra sprites and compatibility fixes at the moment. Do NOT get your hopes up that it is coming out soon, it is not, will likely be dropped at completely random, and is done when it is done. It will be a long wait despite the progress, but the one thing we have that makes it easier is the community and each other, Please support eachother and just enjoy the game together, plus it works as a cool trick to wait over the time to v6's shadowdrop release! Thank you for keeping this mod alive, just make sure to keep the spam away, wait all day, and say hey!
Truly for one last time before v6's unknown release, kaz out with the updates.

Is it just me? or is 5.12's wall jump and wall detection always felt a bit... meh, compared to other wall jumps I've always felt modern's has always been a bit finicky compared to the rest, and it feels like its very low for a wall jump compared to how much effort it takes just for it to be effective? hopefully v6 makes the wall jump overall feel better...
What about you guys? Do any of you feel the same way (if not worse) or do you guys think V5.12's wall jump (and its wall detection) is fine as is?
Well they did say they will be shadowdropping it and said it's like what? 98% done? So most likely they might just drop it one day without announcing it, not showing in a direct, etc.
