As of v2 this is probably my favorite momentum mod for the game. Yes, out of all of them. Captures that Advance 2 feeling super well and is super fun to use with more than several characters.

Hey I'm glad you tried the mod out again and that you're happy with the changes! Thank you for the feedback :D

Probably the best momentum mod i've played. although i have had a better experience with the boost mode disabled, i think the momentum is good enough to be by itself, it feels just like how momentum should feel!

then just use delf's momentum mod.

how boost should have stayed if you ask me. has a really fun side-effect with adventure sonic where it gives you some momentum going into a spindash so you can almost do generations-style drifting with it. it's like the 3d sonic advance 4 of muh dreams.

Agreed. I enjoyed the boost games, but never really cared for the formula. I'll have to try it out with Adventure Sonic. Glad you liked it.

very good momentum mod. I can tell speed runs are going to be pog. I think Cacee's thrust (when spin is pressed on ground or air) could be a boost gainer.

I loved this mod! (and i still do)
The core of sonic games is to go fast, but if you were to hit an enemy, you would lose all of your momentum. Well, this mod fixes that! Not only does this have raw gfx and sfx, but it also makes gameplay more fair and skill based (thats the way i like it!).
Definitely a must have mod (or a must try at the very least), seriously thought, i just cant stop playing srb2 with this, its so fun.
I'll be looking forward to your projects, Star.
Thank you for creating this addon, and to everybody else who helped in the making of it.

Really fun dash script, very simple in concept but heavily skill reliant in execution. Very fun to mess around wish, and I'll definitely add this to my match servers to see how much chaos it can start!

Full marks from me. I do like that it's compatible with a couple of the momentum mods on this site, although I only used XMomentum with this. All I'll say is, if you use XMomentum, expect to go crazy fast at full boost. Which is why I used SRB2Thicc, a level mod that doubles the size of the levels in SRB2.

I may look into adding proper compatibility with XMomentum, since its a very popular mod. Thanks for reviewing!

This is really cool and a nice spin on Advance 2 styled boost momentum, and is pretty fun to find ways to keep... but could REALLY benefit from aerial preservation that Advance 2 also has.

By aerial preservation, you mean so that you're able to use things like springs directly next to walls and maintain the boost?
That is a planned update, once I find out the best way to do it. The tricky part is springs against walls because there's specific code for wall detection, but I have a few ideas so hope to get this in there eventually! Thanks for the feedback.

I'm not sure what that effect is, but if you wanna show me I'll check it out!

I like this alot but i feel like the boost is way too small, since you can just thok to gain momentum, but visually it's really cool, and the video is just awesome

The boost alone is not intended to give you a ton of speed, it's a subtle increase like in Sonic Advance 2. If you really want to see extreme speed then you have to combine boosting with momentum.

As for the thok, nerfing momentum gain for it was something I considered but probably won't do since chaining momentum gains together mid-boost is really fun. And the momentum mod being used for this is a placeholder as it's going to eventually be replaced. So I'll look at it more then.

You're also free to adjust the speed - it's just one line of code (just rename the mod when you're done). However, I could add a console command for it when I add in the toggle option.

Thanks for the feedback 😊

A really cool take on the Advance 2 boost which also doubles as a momentum mod. Pretty neat, though I do have my gripes with it.
It's really odd that it takes far longer for it to trigger than vanilla's Dash Mode (In fact, Metal has both activate alongside each other, at different times), which makes its usability in many of SRB2's levels rather rare. It really benefits from big open spaces where Dash Mode still outclasses it in speed, but it's fine nonetheless.
It's also a bit of a missed opportunity to check if the player has DASH frames for when they enter max boost state. Plenty of mod characters have these, so it'd be a cool detail to include.

Eitherway, great work overall. Welcome Aboard!

As stated in the description, this is designed for custom levels. It would need a very short timer to be useful in vanilla and that goes against how the Sonic Advance 2 boost works. It would also make getting the boost far too easy and repetitive in good custom stages, which the mod was made for. It should still be possible to get the boost going in vanilla stages through very skilled gameplay. The quicker and more precise you are, the more compact areas you can utilize it in. But it excels best in huge custom levels.

As for Metal Sonic + dash mode and the timer being different - yeah that's kind of the point! This is not meant to enhance Metal Sonic's dash mode. Dash mode activates very fast and is an upward speed increase, whereas this is an on/ off constant percentage and works as its own system. It was made for characters who don't have their own dash/ boost modes. That's why it disables with NeoSonic, Blaze, ModernSonic, etc.
I probably should have added Metal Sonic to the exclusion list lol. I also could disable dash mode when used alongside this mod. However, I don't want to make too many rules so adding a console command may be the best bet.

As for the dash frames, almost none of the modded characters I tested use them so it didn't even cross my mind!
It could be a cool effect when the boost activates before dash mode due to a high speed increase, so I will very likely add that in later.

Thanks for the feedback. :)
