Zash, you're too colorful. Also, that music doesn't sound too good to me. I don't see what you see so "OMFG" about it, honestly, but I like a441's music, so you wouldn't understand.

Yeah. If I tried a *little* harder, maybe I could do something better. That was a to-see-what-I-can-do type of thing. Wait untill you hear my SAdv 3 title theme!

MIDIs are good. But, some people don't have good sound cards. It's just that Tracker music is better because you can pick the sounds you want to go into the file. If an instument isn't in your database, then you can go on the internet and download the file, and put it into your music without having the listener have to download that instrument. It sounds the same no matter what computer you use.

MIDIs suck because they're just collections of notes and stuff. Everyone's sound card/synth/software/cat/etc. plays MIDIs differently, making it impossible to equalize volumes, and making "good" MIDIs (such as the one you linked) sound like crap to some people (such as me).

MIDI is useful for creating music, and not as much for distributing it. SRB2's music is MIDI files run through a good synth.

midis are good. but its that the originals (to me) are more fun to listen to. but midis are ok. i make midis, and i would say im pretty good.

Also, some computers (such as mine) will often not play midis AT ALL unless something else is open helping it along for some reason... I have to keep WinAmp playing an empty midi in the background just to hear midis in SRB2! :?

Am I like, the only person who has never really had any trouble with MIDI files? Sure, it doesn't sound great on the PII266, but's more than acceptable. At least they're 50 KB instead of 1500 KB.

It depends on the size of the samples. If it's 500 KB, unless you are using particularly high quality samples or lots of them, it can probably be trimmed down.

I used to not have problems with midis. I still don't unless it is in SRB2, because they don't play for me. No big loss though, because they used to play, and I heard some of the midi music, and it's all right, but when you've been spoiled by something like a perfect OGG of Spring Hill, Green Hill, or Zero Ring, it just isn't the same.

Of course not, I like MIDIs, being a sequencer of sorts and all. I really should upload something to VGMusic...

Not all midis sound like this. Yes, that is the ending of an extremely long 601 page comic I read a while ago (and became helplessly obsessed with since, to the point where all else has stopped)... But if you're willing to read for 7 hours, it's a pretty good thing... I would say "OMFG, THIS PWNZ0RZ J00!!1!11!!!" but that would be an understatement, so instead I'll say nothing more. Kid Radd pwnz0rz j00.
