SA2's Green hill - stage remake. (You won't need 180 emblems to play this stage!)

This is truly an :wow: :wow: :wow: moment...
But fr tho, nice to see my idea being used also I think be nice if the sound effect plays when you reach the reward goal(?) instead of playing only when you go back towards the starting area
I can't do it unless you want the whole map cause the game to check your ring count 4 times every frame... ;v; (And I'm already fed up with this addon instability and I don't want to risk it further... :C)
Tbh, this effect is heavily reminds of that flickering that happens in CEZ2 sometimes (mainly during the beginning part) I think it's because of too many moving objects??? or something else idk, this only happens in software, not OPENGL, maybe this is related that somehow?

This addon doesn't let live, yet doesn't let me die... :dramahog: Using both renderers has it's issues at this point... And at least 2.2.13 doesn't cause everything to crumble... Which you already had the experience of dealing with yourself...

I kinda feel that too... but I was in contact with a member of STJR for a short while, so I might try reaching out to them again and at least asking if they are aware of that bug’s existance. Because I don’t look forward to making a whole account on something that I barely will use ever again. (Or I may ask someone who may have a gitlab account already to submit it for me instead, that’s also an option I think.)

I guess software just has more rendering bugs that don’t appear in OPENGL, that’s why OPENGL might seem more stable.
 
I genuinely don't know what I should say at this point... :dramahog: In the time I wasn't posting here I managed to fix my whole mental state and regained motivation for mapping and doing stuff, so know that it was a pretty lengthy break... ;v;

But for real, I feel like all the technical difficulties I've met while finishing this addon up caused me to just do something else for a while, so ye... that's the whole thing I feel. But now I managed to do some small tweaks in like an hour or two which hopefully will make this addon at least a bit closer to full completion. So here it is:

1. I replaced all of the crabmeats with their stationary variants, because the regular ones were the main reason for the stage crashes.
2. I finally set the score emblem value of 60000 points
3. I edited 2 out of 3 badniks to make them have a warn state. :>

So I noticed that sometimes you can get hit by the gecko badniks without even realizing that they are a threat to you, so I decided to add small warn states for them, so even if you're turned back, then you'll know that somethings up which will make these badniks a bit more fair. And I also plan to add this for the buzzbombers, but their code is a bit more complicated, so I don't have them ready yet, but I ESPECIALLY want to add it for buzzbombers which can chase you around the whole stage and snipe you down when you least expect it... And all three badniks will have unique warn sounds for easier judgement of the situation.
4. I finally made it so you won't get jumpscared if you have 100 rings in the bonus map. :3

Maybe that break wasn't that bad honestly, I funnily enough managed to learn some stuff which helped me solve some problems this addon had earlier, so ye. :>

And I'm sorry for making month long break from this addon without any warning... But now I can confidentially say that y'all WILL get this addon released sooner or later. >:3​

Well, i'm glad that you finally get back to the work my friend. It was really a while since this post.
I did a small update on the main stage side, to be exact I got rid of the visible hitboxes for triggers, finished adding enemies, made zoom tubes darker, made re-colored brick sprites for the chao box and made a thumbnail for the main stage in record attack and level select.​

Huh, neat. I may didn't know that crabmeats does have stationary variants, but still cool!

Sounds like a little bit challenge of score emblem. I wonder if you can able add (Time emblem & Ring emblem), would like to see it if can get all emblems in one run of time attack. Or simple Single Player or Coop. (Coop suppost to be as a multiplayer).

I don't think i didn't saw this moment if you get 100 rings at this stage. Atlast you will be rewarded of golden monitors.

Well, your break was not that bad at all, atlast you do for your best. Any longer of chance to release this, wish your luck to finish it.

I also mind thinking about april, since it will be here of 4 days. Are you gonna planning for something to troll us? If so, cant wait to see.

See? This time the next update post came out faster than a whole month... :'>

So I did some small additions to both maps, mainly stuff that adds more depth and life to both stages. Which includes:
1. Adding the warn states for buzzbombers,
2. Adding small sub islands which you can just explore for almost no actual reason currently. Maybe I'll add something to them, or just add more decorations to make them prettier. :P
3. Adding a small secret section with extra life to the GHZ map,
4. Adding a whole intro dialogue for the bonus map with it being a small story-tutorial thingy,
5. Finally setting the music for the bonus map which is... S.Mania GHZ act 2 theme. :P Not sure why... maybe because it's my favorite GHZ theme variation and stuff...
6. Making spring way bigger to match more with their SA2 size.

And now... do y'all think that the tutorial thingy is a bit too yappy? And you also can't move meanwhile this message plays, but you still can skip it. And I had problems with it obscuring the quarter of the screen every time and the auto-text-play being kinda unreliable because people still have different reading speeds. So these issues pushed me to making it so you can't move, BUT you can quickly skip the message pretty quickly.​

Yeah, it’s kinda hard trying to work on something while it’s unstable to work with... But I finally found a solution to not make the addon crash anymore, so that’s why this stage is actually coming out now. :P

Honestly, it’s not that challanging the moment you know the layout of the map. I myself managed to get 60000 score in just 3 minutes by using invicibility monitors for enemy score chains, extra life monitors for 10000/1000 score bonuses (only in T.A mode) and collecting rings. Which are quite important because 1 singular ring gives you 100 points, which adds up to 1000 every 10 rings. So overall you can get around 20000 score just by ring collection alone which is a 1/3 of the score goal.

And I already added these two emblems with 45 seconds for time and 200 rings for... rings. :P And you sadly can’t get all the emblems in one run because all the categories kinda bite with each other. The only compatible emblems are ring and score. Seeing how a lot of rings equal a lot of score. So you’ll collect them a lot either way. But I don’t think you can earn 60000 score or collect 200 rings in just 45 seconds... -.-

I made them by hand by editing the enemies code. Which is actually pretty easy to do so, all you need to make those small edits is the SRB2WIKI and some prior knowledge on how to with SOC (Sonic Object Configuration) I’d say that it’s on a level of scratch in terms of trying to learn how it works. It’s pretty easy to understand, but can be really flexible in experienced hands. :>

I actually can’t do a lot about chasing buzzbombers without changing a lot of their behaviour which is coded in, so my best bet is just to leave them as they are, and of course leaving the warn state to make it actually fair.

I could do better honestly, this stage was originally meant to come out around the christmas to new year period, but it didn’t and now I just don’t feel the best with it, and in the same time a year ago I made an addon with TWO whole ORIGINAL acts, while now I spent 6 months making a digital lego set that all I had to do with is just build it like it was in the original... Which should take much less time than making two completely new stages with it’s visuals, level design and ideas...

So in other words, this week is the hard line release date for this addon.
 
Let's just hope that this remake will have a smoother road than the first moments of my E.C remake... ;v;

I actually hoped that it would get approved in the same week that El-fire’s GHZ addon came out, (so a week ago) so I would be able to make a joke that we got two GHZ addons in the same week, but I was too late for the train which means that this addon probably will be approved in late april... ;v;

The wait is over lads... It's here! Combine this with SA-Sonic and Game Styles and you won't even recognize the game as Sonic Robo Blast 2 anymore... :knuxsmug:
I'm gonna take these maps a look from top to bottom and (with enough mottivation) do a full review to them. Great job as always, Aquavine!
