This character is hardly known to a lot of people and I think that's criminal. Bean is easily my favorite mod for the entire game. Everything about it is complete skill. Controlling Bean is completely intuitive but still far more involved than any other character, making it easily one of the highest skill ceiling characters available while also remaining fun and worth the effort around other characters.
In the hands of a skilled player, this simple moveset can do anything: high jump, double/triple jump, jump extenders, wall climb, wall jump, aerial stall, horizontal/vertical launch, a myriad of mid-air maneuverability options, instant extreme speed, breakneck cornering, and fantastic aerial momentum retention. And it does it all while barely touching the ground. Yet, I think that it's completely balanced.
Everything that you do as Bean is *your* doing, never a scripted action. The bombs that you throw have no designated purpose. They fly out, then blast you away from the center of its explosion. *You* give them purpose. First, consider where you are going to need a blast. Predict the trajectory and throw a bomb to place the explosion to be at that exact spot at the moment you reach it (and I mean exact, I'm talking mere pixels of precision). Then, as you and the bomb fly into place, claim your momentum with precise timing for a burst of speed. Then, again. And again. Each leap flows through the last and into the next for as long as your aim is sharp and positioning is precise. It only becomes even more powerful once you realize that the positioning of yourself adds just as much opportunity as the bombs you throw.
Sound easy? Try it yourself. Then try, try, again. You might find it hard to put down. This is the mod that just keeps on giving.
