The rouge robot is back again, ready to show Robotnik's badniks who's boss!

This is a character mod that adds Backwards Aigis to the game, fully usable in both Single Player and online!

Who the heck is this?
For those who don't yet know, Backwards Aigis started as a sprite edit of regular Aigis' old sprites in Srb2Kart.
She's the old Aigis unit that decided to go rogue after being scrapped for the one racing around currently.

What does she do?

1. For her neutral special...
- Using her finger guns, she can shoot her way to victory! Simply hitting the jump button will have her shoot towards the ground!

- Hitting jump again allows for one more jump, but you can shoot down with the button whenever you'd like!

- Along with the jumpshot, hitting Custom 1 will have her backflip and quickly shoot ahead of (or is it behind?) her!

- You can use this mid-jump as well - not only taking out airborne enemies, but you'll look extra cool too!

- Aiming these shots might be a bit annoying at times, especially online. Not to worry! There's a console command "hominglazers" that'll switch on homing capabilities! Lazers shot with this on will home in on anything she's close to and facing away from. Do note that it's off by default, though.

- I assume you've noticed the empty bar at the top right of the screen. Well, it's for her charge shot! Hold down custom 2 and she'll charge it up. Once the bar shows that it's ready, release for a big shot that'll tear through groups of enemies, and even break walls and spikes!

- You'll keep the charge for as long as the button is held, letting you plan for upcoming enemies. Use these lazer abilities to take care of those badniks!

2. Boost Mode
New to Backwards Aigis - an alternate Boost Mode, based on her playstyle in SRB2Kart!

-It's a little slower, but has some cool perks to compensate! You gain the state a little faster, and don't immediately lose the state upon slowing down or hitting a spring - instead, you have about a second or so to speed up again! As long as you have at least 40BP, you'll keep the state.

-She'll keep on flashing (and have a higher jump and the ability to break stuff!) as long as you're moving fast enough to keep the state.

-The quick acceleration and lower speed match her SRB2Kart stats - keep up the speed and you'll be be boosting a lot, like the quicker drift spark rates!

3. Action Moves
Backwards Aigis comes with more than just her finger lazers!

- SpinKick and Stomp
After a jump, press spin and she'll kick out and gain some height, with the ability to damage enemies!

Press spin again, and she'll stomp towards the ground! She keeps her speed when she lands, too.

Her stomp can also boost springs, and break through certain grounds!

-SpeedCharge
If you're stood still, hold spin to charge a super peelout-like move! Let go of spin to launch off. Glowing orbs will appear when it's at full charge.

If you jump before letting go of spin, you can keep the SpeedCharge as a backup for later!

-DriftDash
When moving, hold spin and right/left to drift, with a boost afterwards when you let go of spin!

4. Water Skim
If moving fast enough, she'll fly across water! Make sure to keep up the speed.

5. You mean the Chaos Emeralds?
Yep, she's got a Super Form - Complete with another spriteset, a custom theme, and some pretty cool abilities!

6. Some extras
-Press tossflag when grounded to taunt! There's three funny poses in there, and one that only shows when next to two specific characters...
-Grab all seven emeralds, tell the console a secret name, and the fun will never end! (Pssst - if you find this one, or dig through the pk3, don't tell anyone else what it is! I want to keep it a secret for a week.)
-She now comes with some light SRB2Persona support!

- Charge shots sometimes don't deal double damage if you aren't aiming near the center of your target - no clue what causes this one...
- SpinKicks won't always send as high as you'd expect...
- In order to get the new boost mode to work with momentum mods (and for her to flash colours when keeping up the speed), I had to add some hacky workarounds... in short, the "power down" sound when exiting vanilla dashmode will sometimes occur for a split-second under very specific circumstances - Namely, whenever going through specifically the front end of a zoom tube while boost mode is active, and when slowing down quickly enough. I'm still trying to fix this, so if that happens, expect an update.
- Boostmode acts identically to regular dashmode when XMomentum is loaded - I don't know of a proper way to get it working there.


As you can probably tell, this is my first character mod. There are going to be some rough patches, and I apologize for that.
That aside, I can't help but be at least a little proud of this. Having a character in this game has been a literal life-long dream of mine, with me picking the game up at a very young age. I do hope to spice things up further as time goes on, so stay tuned!

The new overhaul change is amazing! Everything fits very well.

The laser's new change looks very great! Doesn't leave a trail and looks more cooler and noticeable, the charge is a very nice addition as it can be used to combo enemies! The momentum based spin and stomp is very fun to mess with too, now being able to combine them to gain more height and quickly get down helping her get through sections quicker. Dashmode still fits great, her speed gain system works very well and looks cooler too!

Overall this is a huge improvement and had a blast playing a few levels with her, great job on this!

Honestly shockingly fun to play, flows well and shooting things feels fun and not clunky or weird at all. i do wish that perhaps i could rebind the shooting to normalfire/fire, and that charging had a toggleable charge noise (like in megaman x for instance) very fun and cool.

The new set plays very well!, I'm happy that you found a way to make her ability more compatible with the dash mode. Speaking of dash mode I'm really loving the after images she gets when it is activated. Thank you for making this change!

a very surprising take on a joke that ended up being very decent.
My first problem however is that it's kinda difficult to control precisely due to the fact that it's backwards (especially if you are using a camera view that is not classic).
My second problem is that there is a missed opportunity to make this character compatible with SRB2Persona, which would've worked out very well.

I've actually been thinking about SRB2Persona compatibilty as well, but I don't actually know how to do that at the moment. I'll see if I can look into it!
As for the control difficulty... well, not much I can do about that, huh? Perhaps a regular Aigis mod is in order at some point. Can't say it'd be me doing it, though — not skilled enough to add all the features that would probably need.

I don't really like this mod... As someone who isn't a fan of Neo Sonic, you would understand why I don't like the ability set. As for the sprites, I love how they are 16 rotation! But the general playing sprites are too large and I just dislike how they look, also where is the spin dash sprite? I'm not a fan of this but still great job on the character.

That makes sense - sorry that you didn't like it. That said, she now leaves afterimages when spinning instead of there being nothing, so I hope that helps a bit.

Nice to see another character make use of 16-rotation support! I think it's strange that her thok is too slow to conserve her dashmode charge, and I feel that it was a bit lazy to use the default thokitem/spinitem for an upscaled character—even removing it would look nicer than the tiny offset stream.

Thank you so much! I'm planning on replacing the thokitem as soon as I can.
As for the thok, I'll admit I made it that slow on accident at first, but I think I prefer it this way — keeps her from feeling too similar to Sonic. Maybe some experimenting is in order.
