This isn't about solving anything, because at the end of the day, its the creator of the workshops choice if they want to keep hosting portlegs/mods with stolen content. It sucks that people can't respect modders wishes and not take things that souly belong to them without permission, but what can anyone do about this exactly? Nothing.I did do research. I understand why fans hate portlegs. I even disagree with Sandwichface on some things. View attachment 101249
This was just taken straight from his vid that I linked already. I'm getting sick of these arguments.
Why can't we solve this properly? Just get STJR, the WS mods, and HAVE A CONVERSATION ON WHY THEY DO WHAT THEY DO. I DON'T CARE THAT THE WS DOES PORTLEGS. JUST HAVE A CONVERSATION ON A PRIVATE VOICE CHAT OR CHAT ON DISCORD TO DISCUSS THIS CRAP. I LEGITMATELY CANNOT STAND THIS COMMUNITY DIVIDED ANYMORE.
Can confirm that you cannot do this, you literally can't just change if your mod is reusable or not if its already released. That would be stupid.
I'm pretty sure sandwich face made a point about this in his video he did about reusability and id assume that's were he got it from, if that's the case then yall need to do some research LOL
Wanted to make a quick note that I did a test myself and it seems that yes, you can freely modify a mod's reusability as much as you want:you literally cannot do this lmao
huh, ive never actually seen this part when I was waiting for my addon to be accepted. well you proved me wrongWanted to make a quick note that I did a test myself and it seems that yes, you can freely modify a mod's reusability as much as you want:

I believe there's been a big misunderstanding - there is nothing for STJr dev and staff to discuss with the Workshop administration about anything. Our policies have existed and continue to exist independent of them, and we have no stake in the existence of alternate communities. The idea that there's any "division" in the community regarding the Workshop is completely fabricated. Why can't we solve this properly? While I understand to respect people's wishes, what if it was reusable? Then suddenly its not, and now your entire mod is ruined. They were perfectly ok before, but now they changed their mind on a whim, without any communication to me, the modder of his mod. How is that fair? Also, I'm gonna stop taking Sandwich's points on the errors of the reusability system, just watch the vid right here. And before I get a reply saying he doesn't give a shit on "artists", WATCH THE DAMN VIDEO. I say this strictly for context, as this points out a lot of things wrong with the reusability system.
IDK WHY PEOPLE CRY ABOUT THAT.I COMPLETELY agree with you on this. Your ancient-ass mod 9/10 isn't gonna be ported to 2.2 by you, so let people who actually enjoyed your work do it for you.
1. The person that created the mod should be the one to port it unless they don't want it to be or give someone else permission too because they made the mod.IDK WHY PEOPLE CRY ABOUT THAT.
it's because, literally. your mod will be known more if its ported.
they might even add more cool shit (i'm looking at you, reminiscenes pack)
With all due respect, you don’t make mods, and so don’t have a clear picture of how we feel about our mods. It’s not about the attention for us.IDK WHY PEOPLE CRY ABOUT THAT.

Ok, so how do you genuinely feel about your mods then? With all due respect, you don’t make mods, and so don’t have a clear picture of how we feel about our mods. It’s not about the attention for us.
I can’t answer for all modders, that’s why the MB gives you multiple options about whether it’s okay or not to maintain your mods. Personally, I like the idea of my mods being fondly remembered enough to be ported, but I don’t want edits of them to be uploaded otherwise. I spent countless hours of my free time on them, I don’t think “Please don’t reupload edits of my mods without permission” is an unreasonable ask. Apparently though, some people are not only incapable of asking for permission, but they will get mad if you say they should’ve.Ok, so how do you genuinely feel about your mods then?
nobody cares if you add more stuff. if i explicitly request that my mod not be tampered with i expect that request to be met with understanding, not "b-but it'll look so much cooler when im done!! promise!!!"IDK WHY PEOPLE CRY ABOUT THAT.

Once again issuing a small correction here. It seems you are also able to revoke a mod's "Open Assets" tag, and in fact if you do so there doesn't seem to be a way to readd it again. Here's the silver lining though: If a mod says [Open Assets], it means it's truly open assets regardless of whatever else it says, because that's not something the author can change or take away once they've asked for it.
charyb literally just said it's not meant to be able to do that lmao its a bugOnce again issuing a small correction here. It seems you are also able to revoke a mod's "Open Assets" tag, and in fact if you do so there doesn't seem to be a way to readd it again.

Of course as you also stated this wouldn't fly regardless with the forum rules, but it's an issue with the software that should be addressed.
i don't believe there's any rules stating you can't use srb2wsAre we still allowed to download mods from another website like gamebanana or srb2 ws?

That has nothing to do with the open assets tag and pertains entirely to the values concerning whether or not your submission can be maintained. Read their very next paragraph which is the original paragraph I quoted in the first place.View attachment 101317
so did you skip this entire paragraph or
Ok, but my argument here is not about edits of pre-existing mods, it's about whether a mod can be ported without needing to ask someone every goddamn time whether or not I can.Personally, I like the idea of my mods being fondly remembered enough to be ported, but I don’t want edits of them to be uploaded otherwise.
