Wowie... And it’s kinda odd seeing her in BB’s enviroment, more than actual SRB2 characters. But she also strangely fits in this game’s artstyle? It’s pretty cool honestly. :3
Ok, being serious rn, for a demo, it's honestly really good!!!! I really like exploration in my funni Sonic game, so, really, I will automatically like it either way lol and tbh, I literally have no complaints right now (unless that sound when you slip on a banana is intentional or you forgot to cut it lol also the banana room is peak af...)
I currently plan to add a bit more substance to exploration with hidden sections, neat skips and secrets, but that will be mainly towards the end of development when the geometry will be more so the same and finalized.

And I’m not exactly sure what you mean by the banana sfx. Because ye, the sfx was intentional... it literally uses the sfx from PLUS itself so ye... •-• (And there also will be banana platforming sections in this stage, so prepare... >:3)
but yeah, no complaints!!! but man, it's shocking to see the major glow-up from V1, I'm excited to see how long the full version since the demo is already long enough (and that's ok!!!!!!!)
Ye... it’s basically day and night in quality. I remind you that after like a week or two I already was done with like a quarter of v1. This stage was made WAY too fast for it’s own good and ye... I’m here to give this stage the treatment it deserves. :3

And if I had to be honest then... 10 minutes. And that still might be the best case scenario so ye... I hope you actually like long stages... -v-" But at least it won’t drag that much due to more than unique content I feel. You still will be surprised by this addon... >:3
btw, I don't know if this is even a good "review" I'm terrible at doing these smh...
If this review was meant to give me motivation, then ye, it IS a good review. :3 And I’m glad you liked what I did so far, this also gives me quite a bit of motivation to keep going. ^v^

Today passes a whole year since I started developing this addon...

And as a way of celebrating this year long journey, I decided to release a first look demo for the complete remake of this stage, Super Schoolhouse Zone v2! (SSZ v2 for short. :P)

And... That's it, I guess.

First of all: WOW!
Yet again, I'm not a big fan of stages that are mazes or have mazes within them, but this stage just crushes that opinion. And I'm happy to see the design has a bit more variety than just closed hallways and being forced to beat lots of badniks!

"I can finally see my banana grow stronger at her home, where she'll feel happy, cherished and loved by her friends and family. Finally, my dear K. Peelie can be free to explore, to breathe the fresh air from the outsides, to smile, to laugh, to hear the chirp of the lil' birds.

I'm sure her future will be bright and joyful, with a new start coming up. I will never forget all the memories I've made with her. Good bye, Peelie. Hope you find the happiness you deserve and always deserved."

(This is the only "poem" or something I'm ever writing...)

Jokes aside, I'm glad the bananas made it to this map! It's kind of creative the way you used them to hide stuff and as a hazard for the player.
It has been truly an honor to work on this addon!

And I guess that's all I have to say.
Hope the final v2 releases soon, but please, take your time. We all will wait as long as it is necesary, so don't pressure yourself, okay?

See ya' next post!

I feel like this is my main goal with v2, I absolutely despise how mazey and hallway-esk v1 is made like. It’s like you’re playing that windows 3D maze screensaver, and that’s anything but fun honestly... And holding forward and strafing the camera is the most you could do in v1 to be honest... -.-

And ye, now there’s less cramped hallways, more variety in hallways if they are already present, and they act more as a way of reaching the main section (Platforming, combat and stuff) THAN being the section itself (Even though that’s also the case sometimes, but it’s done way better than v1 and it’s actually fun somehow...)

And the nice thing is that you don’t even have to actually fight badniks most of the time! You instead can just use shields or the enviroment to beat badniks faster. And that’s a combat section done well personally. :D

This is the most random and insane thing I read today... And I personally rate it as a 9/10 usage of free will. :P (But ye, it’s cool I think?... I wasn’t expecting to read a poem about a banana peel today... ;v;)
Jokes aside, I'm glad the bananas made it to this map! It's kind of creative the way you used them to hide stuff and as a hazard for the player.

(You kinda said it like you expected me to just unexpectedly scrap this gimmick for some reason. :P) But I think that since that point the peel will be present through the whole stage when it will fit the situation.

And I still want to do some stuff with banana peels that I had no time to finish on time, so expect more slippies. :3

And I kinda doubt that this will be the last you’ll do for this addon... but I’m not sure honestly, because I don’t know what else I could add that can’t be recreated with SOC. -.-
And I guess that's all I have to say.
Hope the final v2 releases soon, but please, take your time. We all will wait as long as it is necesary, so don't pressure yourself, okay?

Well, I feel like since the release of the demo I feel more powered up to work on this addon, which means that I currently make more sections than one per week... ;v; (So one per like 5 days at worst or something. ;v;)

But still, I’m sure it will take a long time before v2 releases... But I’ll do my best to make this the best piece of BB’s fan media I’ll ever make... -v- (Or the best BB’s and Sonic crossover...)

So I have a first update in some time (as if a release of a whole demo wasn't enough of an update. -.-) And this time I did even MORE random disconnected stuff. :> And I also made some technical demo's which are basically spoilers for the full stage. And the first one is:

1. Light's Out Demo - I plan to make the last part of this stage inspired by the light's out event with school being shrouded in darkness yet being lit up by singular light bulbs, and for the cool! effect I decided to make this small demo of how the school would transition into the event instantly letting you know... that you're cooked. :P (And that you reached the climax of the stage as well. :>)

2. CAPITALISM IN MY BALDI!? Demo - I was thinking about Johnny's store and seeing how I made it so the points you earn via badniks are stylized for YTP's, then I decided to make it so you can actually BUY items in Johnny's store via the points you earned so far, and you probably should already have some seeing how according to the plan, Johnny's store will also be near the end of the stage. But I also can pull off an endless mode seed and add one store in the middle of the stage and then at the end of it.

And SRB2 normally doesn't have a way of checking score as a requirement, but now it kinda has because of @Enes2gamer which made a lua code which lets you set a score amount as a requirement to do stuff. (I said this already, but this feature wouldn't be possible without you! ^v^) And I think that the score price tags may be a bit higher, but I'm not sure seeing how in the tally screen 10 rings = 1000 points, so maybe I just will go off that instead. But now how am I supposed to know how many points shields cost... ;v;

And demo's end here, but it doesn't mean the updates do! I added a new interactable decoration and that's a dirty chalk eraser which spawns chalk dust upon contact. :> (Which serves no purpose beyond looking cool. :>) But that doesn't mean that you can't hide in the dust... which you kinda can, but don't expect badniks to get fooled by it. -.-

I also decided to go start to finish in decorating this stage again, because I noticed that some spots are a bit barren and could use some more life, and that's exactly what I did, so no new sections sadly. :C But I added a checkpoint which REALLY should be added earlier, so sorgy. :< (Because before that you had to go through like 50% of the whole stage as it is to reach the end again...)
srb20155.png

And here are the earlier mentioned decorations. :>

I fully remade one of the banana sections, to a great success in my opinion. :> So now it is WAY more engaging than it was before, with more exploration, sneaky tricks and it just feels way less barren than the original draft if you can call it like that.

I also made a small change to the main theme, which you can hear at 1:05. And now... it actually sounds really solid? Like actual music? O_O (Overall, I'm really happy how this small change turned out. I hope I'll manage to pull off more tweaks like this one. :>)

So kinda a small update, but this update also means that I probably will do more actually NEW level design soon. :>

That banana peel yeeting into the 25¢ Nokia was so peak. Would banana peel yeet into the 25¢ Nokia again.

Jokes aside, I like how the bananas work here. There's a new title card, too, it seems.

Do I even have to say how well done the level is?
Sometimes I think you must be hiding some terrain controlling powers... (clearly a joke)

Also, hear me out... Dithered drop shadows :threat:
If we have a dithered fade effect and bananas already have dithered "shadows", then why not drop shadows with dithering for all objects that have a drop shadow?

As always, great job! I'll be looking for the next update.

There would be literally no difference between hitting that unit of an ancient phone, and hitting the nearest brick wall. :P

I mean, I guess it is a new title card, but it also was in the demo which was released at may 10th, so it's not exactly new anymore. (But it IS new when compared to that cheap vanilla title card recolor. -_-)
Do I even have to say how well done the level is?

Seemingly yes, because there was a point in time where I found this stage bad... T^T And yes... I’m an earth bender... >:3 (And also thinking of level design in the most boring school days imaginable. :>)
Also, hear me out... Dithered drop shadows :threat:

That’s actually fire... I’m going to try how that looks when I'll be back from school! c: (Which is just a time parasite to me at this point smh... I’m not even in danger of failing any classes so now I’m here just going there because I have to... -_-)
As always, great job! I'll be looking for the next update.
Big info drop by the way... I may make a new demo in the first day of summer break. Mainly because I want to work on my addons full-time NOW, and then work part-time in summer, because I won't have exactly the best summer memories when they will all consist of staying in my room degrading my eyesight in daily 10 hour mapping sessions... :C (And of course if there will be enough new stuff to even make a new demo worth it...)

Hayo... I'm feeling especially burned out lately... ;v;

So since last weekend I found myself getting quite tired while being social online and mapping, but I also just don't feel quite well lately... So for the last weekend all I did was playing Sonic Unleashed... (And I got all hot-dogs in Adabat and Empire City. :3) And I also have an absolute black hole in my mind which makes having ideas for the stage quite tough, even though I already have a plan. Yet I just can't put it in life... :<

But that doesn't mean I have nothing, I actually have quite some large stuff in the long run. :>

1. Due to my mapping burnout, I decided to do something else (to keep the productive part of my brain satisfied) and that something is doing some stuff with the main SSZ theme. And I made some small changes, and some huge changes. And the huge one is mainly in the ending of the song, I like how it turned out. :>

2. And funnily enough, this part is also about music. So there's a person which made a really cool remix of the time's out theme, and now I can both use it and now I also have a new composer for this stage! :D (I'm also not sure how that happened...) But here it is! This theme will now be used as the theme for the ending section of this stage instead of the vanilla time's out theme. :> (But the thing is that he said that he could make music for this stage If I want to, but I'm currently trying to learn something myself instead of letting "adults" handle this... -v- But this is still a possibility though.)

(And if this message is weirdly written, then ye... The burnout is real... ;v;)
