Apparently, I already watched some of your content without even knowing that it’s you... Heck, I even watched your ”SRB2 but it’s actually good” video few weeks ago and I STILL had no idea that it’s you, but undercover! (Also, old DRRR Swift build!1!1!) And you probably already noticed the random like-spike on your channel’s videos from a single account... :worry:
But why you played with software rendering though. :C I already said that this addon looks ugly with this rendering. :C Unless you have some other more technical reason why you don’t play with it, then I understand. And it kinda feels overwhelming knowing that ALL of the people I know on this forum have a youtube channel. •w•’’ It’s like seeing one of your classmates in the wild outside of school, I don’t know what I should do with this info now... Thanks for that by the way! (I feel like I’m about to slip into my personal reflecfion trance... I don’t have a clue how I ended up in a moment in my life when my work is actually being noticed and is actually impactful. I sometimes feel that I ended up in this position by pure conicidance... :oh:)

I was pretty much sure that you wouldn’t choose a worse renedering for this stage for no reason. I personally use the xbox game bar to record stuff, and this might sound kinda goofy but it’s actually a really good screen recorder. And the best part is that it’s built in with windows 10! It may be a bit limited because you can’t pause a recording without completely stopping it, but for what I need it, it’s a 10/10 recording program. And I never had any frame drops with it. [And if you want to test it out then press WIN + G If I remember correctly.]

I just feel like I was on auto-pilot since summer/end of the summer when it comes to my activity here. I just forgotten how much stuff I take for granted. :C (I hate that my brain adapts to situations in such a way that makes me have weaker emotions towards something that just a few months ago would made my face literally red if it were to happen at the time. Also, am I the only person here that blushes on ears? •_•)

i cant lie i already uploaded the video containing the runs but ill probably update act 1 down the road since i ended up flying a speed shoes monitor i missed earlier
I already seen it actually, and I have a small tip for playing as SA sonic! So I don’t really like spam-dash... Because it just feels like a boost to me, and I feel that it’s actually a bit faster and easier to just fully charge a spindash and then uncurl into a run the moment you blast off instead of rapidly tapping the spin button. In that way Sonic will have a second or two of a state when he doesn’t lose any of his speed. And the best part for me is that this strategy is going to get even stronger with SA.S’s v1.9 because of the new physics tweak that makes Sonic deaccelerate more naturally instead of him hitting the invisible brakes. Also, is it only me or does everyone can’t focus on the path when they’re spam-dashing, it’s like that exercises when you try to do two independent things with your hands, and I always fumble it and bonk a wall. >:C And I would want to show you how this strat works in practice but I’m kinda unable at this moment... Also, thanks for playing literally every E.C map that ever existed! (I actually forgot about that one goofy ahh corridor-based emerald coast map from the final demo days, I’m not sure if they knew what they were doing with that version...) And is it only me or is there more E.C themed stages in SRB2MB than GHZ ones? (The GHZ curse is starting to weaken...)

When I write essays on this forum then it’s always in the mornings, and I don’t know why that always happens at this time of the day...
 
Gang... Should I add rhinotanks to NEO Emerald Coast too? And that won’t mean that lance-a-bots will be entirely replaced. They will be left in moments where you should have a moment to react so they won’t instantly rush towards you.

And rhinotanks will be put in moments where you can see them from far away so you will have more than enough time to prepare for them.

Because rhinotanks don’t have a ”warning periods/lag” unlike the L.A.B statues. Instead they instantly rush towards you.

So is it a good idea? And I feel that they won’t be as common as L.A.B because I think that there’s a lot of moments where the warning lag is needed so you won’t get unfair damage.

And with that I also might redo some enemy placement so it will be a better balance of fairness and challange.

And sorry for no 3K art. But I still have more than enough time to think of something. (At least I hope I will... :sadthumbsup:)

It really felt like a jumpscare when I saw this video as a first recommandation at 6 am minutes after I woke up.
 
So I got a piece of criticism and it got me thinking a little bit too much... So now I will ask, what do y'all think about this section? Is it boring, empty or too long for what it does? And should I redo it or just straight up replace it with something else? Or just leave it alone? :C

If it were up to me, I'd probably replace it with a standard section of basic platforming. The wind isn't properly conveyed at all and is a bit finicky, so when I first played this level, I genuinely thought it was unfinished.

Maybe I could merge tornados with platforming instead like in the section before the jungle, but floating on wind seems like it has potential, but I’m not sure I could exactly do with it... I maybe lost my creative juices for this stage honestly. :C

I think that with the rather stiff steering in srb2 along with you having to drift after the red spring, I feel like instead of boring then this section could turn into annoying or even unfair at some points, or just unnecesarly hard. :C

But I’m sure that if I had to add these spike balls then I would need to redo the whole section to fit with these hazards.

But after thinking about it then this section might just have too little substance, because it’s just speed and nothing more.

(But I still want some more feedback because as I said, I have no ideas on what more I could do with this section, but I don’t want to entirely scrap it because I feel that it could work if done right... •3•)

yeah i think its a little too long for what it does, neat idea but shortening it somehow wouldnt hurt

I made something, and I honestly don't know how I should feel about it.​

Speed path

"You fumbled the bag" path.

This section just doesn't fit right with me for some reason, it just feels too different from the rest of the stage and it gives me a feeling of uncanny valley. I feel like it's a bit too tightly packed, the bottom path feels too punishing to me and it just overall feels weird to me. :C I'm not happy nor sad with this section and I don't know what I should now. I feel that it just doesn't have that flow that could make this section fun.

This is the same feeling that I felt when designing a section for act 2 that I knew would be scrapped anyway no matter how much I would try to make it work. (a.k.a the halfway through the 4th page of the w.i.p thread) It's like I can sense when a section is a lost cause, and it says me that this may be a one too.

Which means that I still need some feedback...
 
I cooled down a bit since yesterday... And decided to do some other stuff instead. (But I will come back to the wind section later.)​

So I need to tell the whole backstory so it will make sense why I decided to remake that specific moment and section.

So due to me focusing so much on this addon yesterday and feeling a lot of strong emotions along with it, my brain decided to make me dream about act 2 specifically today and dreams are basically the REAL a.i generator. So basically my subconscious brain made up a scenario that went something like this:

I was playing as SA sonic in act 2, and I was in a cave that looked exactly like the one in act 2. But instead I was in a long hallway esk section and I was running side ways for some reason (Running forwards down the hallway with camera turned towards the left wall.) and I stopped running when I noticed that there's a passage way on one of the walls that has a section inside it. And I gotta tell you, it looked absolutely majestic for some reason, I really can't remember much about it outside of the rough geometry of it but I know that it was really pretty.​

And now for the update, I got another piece of criticism that this time was actually respectful towards me and was really supportive and cool which was quite nice and pretty much needed after all of these passive-aggressive point-outs. And that gave me enough energy to try and do some refreshing. And with the dream that I got and the new motivation, I decided to redo the earth "button" section a bit and make it more engaging and cooler. :knuxsmug:

And this might sound funny, but the section that was added over that small switch spot is actually my most possibly accurate remake of the area that appeared in my dream, so you pretty much can say that dawg, indeed, got a vision.

And for the engagement part, I decided to add some extra visual effects to the earth "button" and so the backtracking won't be just backtracking, I made it so parts of the road will break away after you basically caused an earth quake inside the cave.

(Because it's basically held up by a single soft spot in the ground which made the already moisty and soft road fall apart due to the vibrations that the earth quake caused. Man, I love environmental story telling. :D I could yap about why I've chosen this specific texture over the other for hours without getting tired of it.)

And this refreshed section is unfinished as of the moment, only the main concept and idea is fully done. I also decided to get rid of the "new" wind section because I wasn't really proud of it. It just didn't flow as well as the original and I still need to think of something else for it. :C

And I did thought of something else! And I'm actually proud of it at that!

So the re-done section works pretty similarly to the original one, but I've added NiGHTS bumpers and maces to the mix! Here how it plays. (And it's still work in progress, but mainly visually at this point.)​



And here's the route for air-drifting connoisseurs.

And I also added more detail and changed the shape and sizes of the shattered ground for the new earth "button" section.

Overall, expect this update to come out this week at the earliest. And in 2 weeks for the latest. :3
 
I kinda underestimated my side-tracking capabilities. Which means that 1.2 won't be out this week. :C

So because of that, grab another teaser! I decided to remake that goofy square secret area with speed shoes into an actual cavern.

Rhinotanks, remade sections and more!

CHANGES:
-Remade the wind surfing section from scratch, and made it way more engaging and most important of all... I made it prettier. :3 (Act 2)
-Changed the kinda under baked earth-button section into a pretty neat idea. I remade the button area and when pressed it will destroy the path that you used to reach it so the backtracking will be actually fun and engaging. :> (And this is pretty funny but the new button section actually got made because of a dream that I got. :oh: I'm not...
