2.1 Levels - Slopes? What are those?

Have you ever wanted to go back in time, yet want to save space for 2.2? Alternatively, do you wanna experience the previous version without having to put up with having to use the keyboard if you primarily use a controller? All without having to rely on a portleg? Well, here's the most high effort port yet(until The Past comes out)!

Sonic's previous adventure, all in (almost)pristine condition! A lot of what's seen here...

This is brilliant, but I hate to say that this isn't the perfect recreation. The only thing it's missing is accurate 2.1 level objects, such as monitors, checkpoints, and the signpost. The monitor sprites can be found in the Retro Monitors mod, but you don't have to bother with the checkpoint and signpost sprites since they're kinda hard to find in the first place.

You did take into account the bosses and enemies, which is good because older graphics don't do it for me in those cases. Title card behavior and signpost behavior could also be changed to that of v2.1 and earlier, but I wouldn't stress on it. The best that can be done, I guess, is changing the color of the title cards to completely black, because fun fact, title cards did not exist until v2.2.

I would, but I would really like to conserve my sanity when it comes to most of this.. who knows, maybe I'll update this and make use of the maces included with the old bosses port. For now though, I want people to enjoy what my friend and I have made.

That's okay. Take all the time you need.

After playing through this a little bit, I'm also proud to say you did well with the emblems, because all of the other attempts at porting v2.1's levels didn't even think about the emblems. But why only 77 when all 160 emblems could be ported? I know the SRB1 Remake from v2.1 isn't included anymore, but there could be a workaround. I'm only bringing that up because beating the SRB1 Remake earns you an emblem. Yep, one emblem for 11 of the 14 original zones and all six Super/Hyper levels. Sure, the SRB1 Remake is fun, but all that for one emblem? Yeah, no thank you.

I'm not even sure if those are real things.
1. I kept monitors as 2.2 monitors because I want this to be as compatible with mods as possible. Adding in old monitors would break that, especially for Mario and Luigi.
2. There is no 2.1 fire, unfortunately. Again, I only did the best with what I had. Maybe when it does get ported, I'll use that instead.
and 3. Multiplayer coding? That would be impossible. Not to mention it would probably make this mod too big to download, even if I could.

While testing SRB2 the Past my team and I didn't find any real issues with Mario, Luigi, and the retro monitors outside having the power ups applied right away.

However, I don't know how things went during your tests.
as for 2.1 fire, if they mean the lava, that can be accomplished using a combination of damage water and fire damage intangible from below translucent fofs. This set up is the closest we can get to 2.1 lava without lua., but it's also not compatible with the Flame shield.

ayy this is a blast from the past. I only have two problems with this:

1 - You need 60 emblems to unlock the emblem radar...when there are only 77 emblems total. At that point the radar is almost pointless.

2 - There's something really off about the amount of blue spheres required for egg satellite, spring hill and black hole. in ESZ you need more spheres than I remember (or there are less spheres placed around), making you have to advance further in before backtracking to the capsule, and the latter two stages have become borderline impossible given their requirements. I'm not even sure if spring hill is clearable period.

Gonna try and fix that then. Gonna take a while though.

so glad theres an official version now that has the shrinking bit in egg rock 2 in it unlike unofficial version! this is kinda nostalgic i did start playing srb2 during 2.1 but i was very young and was very bad and didnt beat the game but playing this is so nice. i guess i can kinda see why alot of people prefer 2.1 over 2.2 cause the levels, while not very polished were pretty big and kinda cool. sure the current levels we have now are also pretty cool and more polished but idk i still like these old ones, would i take them over the new ones if they were to be swapped in the actual game, nah i still hate egg rock despite the shrinking bit thats kinda cool. good job to everyone on porting these i honestly kinda felt a bit weird playing these levels cause i played them with the legacy trio so i kinda felt like i was playing 2.1 except with good controls so that tripped me up a bit.

OGAmyDroid updated 2.1 Levels with a new update entry:

1.1, aka the NiGHTS improvement/SSNSonic and SSNTails' inclusions

Alright, I've fixed an aspect of the game I've neglected for far too long: the NiGHTS stages.
* Corrected the placement of spheres and rings in all of the special/NiGHTS stages, to make it much fairer to the player.
* Corrected them having a decoration errors.
* Also including SSNSonic and SSNTails! They're not too much different, apart from the fact that SSNTails now has accurate flight sounds, and both have proper NiGHTS rotation when it comes to models! Now you won't have to deal with...

Since we have SSN Sonic and SSN Tails, along with HD counterparts, will we get v2.1 Knuckles? An HD counterpart wouldn't need to exist because vanilla Knuckles is basically v2.1 Knuckles HD, as the sprites were unchanged in v2.1 and v2.2 aside from shading. But still, would we get v2.1 Knuckles?

I'll definitely think about it. Dunno if it'll come anytime soon, though.
