SRB2: The Arcade Levels (W.I.P)

This is noice. Maybe make the boss a robotic version of one of the fighters from MVC2?
That's EXACTLY what I'm going to do! I'm thinking the boss could be a robot mimicking Akuma or maybe one of the god tier fighters (i.e. Storm and Magneto.)

What about referencing... What was its name, Abyss? The final boss? Or would you actually prefer leaning towards a playable character instead?

I was considering having the boss be a reference to Abyss, in fact I have his sprites. (These were harder to get than you think.)

It's just that because of his size, he might end up walling in the player, so I scrapped that.
Also having the boss be a robotic version of Akuma nicely compliments the stages secret boss. Basically if you fulfill certain conditions before reaching the boss, the REAL Akuma will swoop in and destroy the robotic copy, and the player would end up fighting him instead. So having the normal boss and the secret boss be different versions of the same character goes pretty well.

I'm back boiz. I know I said I'd be away for longer, but eh whatever.
Here's some concept sketches for Neo Clock Tower.

So basically, Neo Clock Tower is going to be a homage to the clock tower stage from Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes. I'm tryin' to go for like a clock tower/church sort of feel to it.

It's gonna be big with multiple pathways, and I'm thinking that the enemies could be like robots that mimic various characters from MVC2. Like maybe a robot firing a Hadouken or somethin.
I never knew I needed a robot doing spider-man's maxium spider and cap's final justice until now.

Concepts for Neo Clock Towers main enemies: The FightBots! (Subject to change.)

The FightBots Are special robots than can mimic the attacks and fighting styles of other people, and in the case of the Arcade Levels, they've copied the moves and fighting styles of various characters from Marvel vs. Capcom 2! When the FightBot has its sights set on it's target, it'll either chase them down or attempt to zone them out and attack! The FightBots will attack using the special moves of the fighters they've copied (No Hyper Combos, so no Maximum Spider or Rush Drill.) Their designs will also vary depending on what character they're mimicking. The concept sketches show the designs for a generic FightBot.

I plan to have 12 types of FightBots, 6 Capcom bots, and 6 Marvel bots. I haven't decided on which characters are going to get represented, but I've already ruled out a few, those being:
(*:Subject to change)
-Amingo*
-Shuma Gorath
-Blackheart
-Juggernaut
-Hulk
-Tron Bonne
-Thanos
-Anakaris
-Zangeif
-Sentinel
-Colossus
-M.Bison*
-Venom*
-Strider Hiryu
These characters are either way too big, too complex, or just don't have enough interesting material to go off of.

you could probably look into Ketsui for some level or even enemy ideas for the later levels

Da map. (idk I don't have much else to say, obviously WIP.)

Stage 2's gonna take place during a sunset. Also it doesn't have a level header yet so the game still thinks it's Greenflower act 3.

If there's a place you gotta go, I'm the one you need to know, it's the map!

I'm thinkin that there could be 2 routes to take at the start, one that's more platform-heavy but doesn't have a lot of enemies, and another route that's more combat focused, maybe having you defeat groups of fightbots in order to progress.

Some artwork of G.O.D for Arcade Levels. And don't fret, this and other pieces of art will also be available in Al's mod file, for those who like to crack open their WADs or PK3s.

Also stop automerging my posts MB goddamnit.

So I've decided on what characters are going to be represented as Fightbots (and yes, I did have the MVC2 Character Select music playing while deciding this.)
fighterselect.png

(selection not final)

not much progress will be made on the Fightbots until later in Stage 2s development because the Fightbots are going to be pretty complex enemies, both in terms of spritework and behavior, so I'd like to take my time with them.

Maybe have robots that transform into these fighters? Or maybe at the start of a level, a fight between the fighters of mvc2 happen to cause some damage and some of their special moves pass through the building allowing the robots to scan them and copy their fighting styles.

Also what if stage 3 was like segasonic the hedgehog arcade game?

Hmmm...that's not a bad idea actually. Perhaps a pre-stage cutscene showing some Fightbots watching a fight between some of the fighters go down and subsequently learning their attacks and fighting styles.

Also what stage 3 is gonna be like is still in the air, so maybe.
