The mod is cool but i keep on getting a gltich where i cant get out of the ring burst and the emotes arent working and i cant get to the options for x sonic. Ive tried redownloading but it doesnt work

This is a great mod, love how the speed shoes music is replaced with the US version of the Sonic X intro theme, however, unlike any character mod i've seen, whenever I jump, X Sonic just goes down and then jump which is a short delay. This is one of the fastest character mods compared to the Modern Sonic mod

I enjoy this mod, but there are some really annoying features with it:

1. X Sonic is basically useless underwater
Sure, while this is funny to look at, it quickly becomes a problem when you fall into any medium size body of water. Not being able to Zip Dash underwater really bites you in the ass.

2. Automatic Mode
I get this mod is supposed to change the camera's direction alot, but having that comes at the cost of having to play with automatic mode. Automatic mode ain't the best mode to play with.

3. Zip Dash Problems
When Sonic is finished with a zipdash he should skid for a while before going back to running, but usually Sonic just cuts the skid short and continues running which becomes really annoying when trying to aim together abunch of zipdashes.

You probably won't see this, but it would be nice if you could fix some of these problems.

A practically perfect mod, but one thing could be done to improve it:

In both base and super form, Sonic is able to both jump and kick (or punt, I guess) Amy. However, in both variants of his special form, Sonic loses the ability to interact, both jumping and kicking, with Amy.

If this character gets updated, please allow his special form to interact with Amy. It makes no sense that the form which would most likely do such actions lacks the ability to do them, whilst the ones with Sonic in control are capable of doing so.

(Not an Amy hater, but I find kicking her about funny. Please add kicking to the last form for fun.)

X Sonic was worth the wait, and surprisingly he didn't take long to be done--are we sure BlueBlur isn't actually The Blue Blur?

+ The sprites are faithful to the series while also taking the art-style of SRB2,
+ Refreshing takes on a 'boost' and 'homing attack' ability,
+ Various fun taunts,
+ SS is awesome and very powerful as he should be,
+ DS is much more awesome and an amazing take on how his gameplay could be,
+ Extras are pretty neat,
+ His controls are simple, yet very powerful and versatile--his full potential makes him one of the strongest characters here in SRB2's character addons,
+ Ring Burst is as powerful as it was shown in the series,
+ Extension of a previous point; SS' multiplayer combat is outstanding and quite frankly a marvel to watch, spectating many SS' fighting each other in the skies is thrilling--I'm still surprised that GoldenShine managed to make an entire system based on Budokai,

- X Sonic makes underwater levels awful, but that's to make him more faithful to the series representation of the character--still, wished there was some sort of something that could've helped him move less awful in water (Amy's Seashell Bracelet? maybe it could be another collectable upgrade like the Dark Chaos Emeralds...)--though shields give him some of his speed back so this point is kind of nothing,
- X Sonic is not that great in tight spaces, at least that's my experience with him--though he is spectacular to play in open spaces,
- X Sonic's Snap Kick's recoil is a bit jarring to me, as it makes Snap Diving to another somewhat difficult, that's probably just a personal problem,
- Wished he had footsteps, and maybe a wind sound effect when zip-dashing,
- A thok/forward dash assigned to spin/custom 1 when X Sonic is in the air would've been nice, or make free fall assigned to it to make him drop faster,
- I'm somewhat irritated that only the first Eggman boss was buffed, why not the others too? Well, except Brak of course...

The negatives are just nitpicks from me.

All in all, this is an outstanding mod, and I'm happy to see that it's now released. Congratulations and thank you to BlueBlur and his team for adding X Sonic to SRB2!

Before I type anything else, I love this mod. I love the love the team put into this. I've been there and seen everything this mod has to offer. It's insane that we're even getting this for free as X Sonic feels like it makes SRB2 a new game.

But after playing and beating the game several times in vanilla, online, and many custom maps. X Sonic isn't perfect and has flaws that stop him from being a true 10/10.

It may be a skill issue on my part, but X Sonic is hard to control in certain stages. I'm not sure if it's because I played him in vanilla more than anything else. But it feels like he was made for SRB2Thicc and larger maps rather than the set of levels anybody will pick (being Vanilla) when playing a character they have no idea how to use.

Sometimes X Sonic feels too fast. I know the point is 0 to 100 speed but it isn't fit for the vanilla map. Again might be a skill issue and tailor-built for speedrun fans who know the game inside and out.

My only other complaint is the absurd underwater speed. It's a cute reference, but cute references can only go so far.

Regardless of my complaints, I have to say again, it's one of the best SRB2 mods.

very good mod, enjoyed it but there’s this bug where Sonic uses ring burst, and once it hits zero it still stays as ring burst???? and makes weird sounds for some reason, however good mod though

The best mod that I ever saw, we will see what Modern Sonic V6 give us, and if you'll add Nazo form (I think it was like alternative of Hyper Form) it'll be AMAZING!!!

It's done accurate to the anime, good job. Brings me memories when i used to watch Sonic X back in 2006 / 2012, good times man, being a kid, not having to worry about anything. May ask you how long it took to finish this? months or years?

I think it's finally time I review him. After some hours of playing and goofing around...
I'll just cover around what I think of each ability.

Zip-Dash: Does what it's supposed to, gives Sonic speed from an instant to another, it is quite hard to use it on closer areas but you can just make it up by not holding spin all the time during it. The zip-dash leap also helps a lot and wallrunning feels clean, although sometimes I walljump accidentally, well, to be fair not really unexpected considering walls in this game sucks.

Snap Dive: I don't know what to say here, it's a simple move, very effective when bouncing on badniks rather than just the normal jump since it gives a way higher jump height each bounce, the snap dive kick feels nice most of the time, I like that the badniks punishes you if you kick into them when you shouldn't have.

Ring Burst: Ohhh boy, what do I have to say about this? It's his very own op move, while it is unbalanced to the concept it holds up, the ability feels very balanced to the fact you lose a lot of rings during the start-up and still lose a lot of them while using it, (exiting it as well.) although I think the dashes it has for forward left right and backwards could work better, most of the time I couldn't really dash forward while using it. The Power Ring does help a lot when using this, and the fact that it saves after a stage if you don't die makes it an even better mechanic.

His forms feel awesome to play as in their own ways and differences, although I think it'd be cool to have them both be able to fight. Being underwater at first does seem like a huge problem, but after just learning how to deal with it makes it a lot better, saving rings or just walking around for a bit help way more than just spamming snap dive like most people probably would. The delayed jump makes up for his high speed, the fact that he's also a bit slippery makes the jump better to use like this. One thing I haven't seen anyone comment about is how you can recover yourself by jumping or quickly getting back on your feet by backing off from danger.

A fun character held back by a three things: jump delay, poor game performance, and being essentially unplayable underwater.

The zip dash is handled really well for how fast it is. You sacrifice nearly all control for pure speed, and it comes with the most fun implementation of wall run I've seen yet.

Ring Burst similarly feels very balanced for how absurdly OP it actually is in practice. Super powerful moves are fun but there needs to be a reason to not use them and the Ring Burst implementation is a fine example. If anything it's a bit too easy to activate on accident, but I feel like it's a great move in every other aspect.

I get that he's supposed to be nerfed to a comical degree underwater, but the joke gets old after about 5 seconds. If I fall in a required water section I just immediately exit the game. He really needs some kind of utility underwater, even if it's just buffing his normalspeed back to typical underwater speed.

Also, this is by far the laggiest character I have ever used in SRB2. Larger maps run at 4fps that otherwise run at a clean 60 FPS even with other huge mods like Samus. Based off perfstats there appears to be a global mobj hook running which is probably a significant part of the problem.

(sorry if you're getting constant notifications of this review, I want to add/fix some things and there's no edit button)

I love how everything about X Sonic, from his animations to his moveset, perfectly captures the essence of what Sonic was always meant to be; snazzy, speedy, and most importantly, stylish. There was a tremendous amount of effort and detail put into this mod and I admire that.

However, I agree with some of the reviews below. As good as it feels to play as, X Sonic appears designed for bigger maps with more room to zoom around in, like Speed Highway, or X Station. In smaller maps, you're kinda forced to not use his moveset at his full potential if you don't want to bonk into every wall, which practically turns X Sonic into something not dissimilar to others Modern/Adventure-style Sonics out there, but slower and as another reviewer put it, without a thok. As such, my suggestion is to take it a little easy on the "0 to 100" gameplay, and increase the base running speed to a level between 0 and 100 a little above 50. Just fast enough that the smaller levels don't feel underwhelming to run through,

Also, I realized you can fucking punt Amy into next week with the Zip Dash Kick. 11/10 best mod ever (jk amy is heckin adorable i love her).

This mod is really, REALLY close to being perfect, but just barely misses the mark in aspects that really hurt the mod. First, I'll start with the positives: the art is just like sonic x, so much so that it looks like if sonic x was made in a pixelated style! The moves this character has also makes you feel like if sonic x was a playable game, and when you play well, it's almost like you ARE x sonic. His forms are also great and the interface to get to them was really thought out, dark sonic and super sonic have entire combat systems made just for them, too, making x sonic a good mix of combat and speed.

While these points are good, they come packaged with caveats. For starters, the dedication this mod has to being EXACTLY like the show really, REALLY messes it up in a lot of aspects. Like the delayed jump, the amount of times I've gotten hit or fallen off even though I pressed jump in time is just not acceptable. It would've been OK if they did it like modern sonic v5, where you jump immediately but have a short period where you aren't in a ball. It also has this weird effect where you gain speed mid-air which really throws off platforming. The ring burst, while being a cool looking move, is really annoying to control, and usually I'm fine with something being hard to control but you literally bounce off of stuff way too much and it's really sensitive, too. Also you have to hold w to sustain it, which is weird because there's already a button to get out of it but whatever. Also why can you even start it at 10 rings when you lose rings so immensely fast? 10 rings literally drain in like a second what am I gonna do with that? X sonic's moveset is nice by itself, but he's WAY too grounded. Play aerial garden with him or better yet, tortured planet and he's pretty much just a normal sonic without a thok. I'm not saying to make him as well rounded as sms, but dang he's borderline granifer giganticus when you put him in any stage with platforming. Also the zip jump doesn't help this either, as it's too low to do anything and his wall run is genuinely pathetic. I would also like for him to have a stomp but that's just me...

literally the fastest playable mod I've used, SRB2 Generations is a good mod to play this with imo. I really like that you use the artificial emeralds to unlock Dark sonic, though I feel like that transformation a tad bit too powerful, I think it would be good with a bossfight instead of a regular enemy sense you can kill them with only one hit, but it's still really cool to have Dark Sonic as one of the transformations.
