I wish I were strong...!
Nicky the Hedgehog awkwardly stumbles in, in an addon I spent so long on you all forgot I was even working on it!

Curltoggle
Double jump to toggle curl state. Self Explanatory. Use refreshes after damaging something (o may be it was a timer? hitting an enemy usually takes long enough for a refresh, regardless). This is the main concept Nicky was built around, though it's not the main attraction. That would be the...

Tumbledash
Originally designed to punish the player for failing to decurl (and as such, it can be canceled with a tic-perfect jump), the Tumbledash is essentially an automatic dropdash. While playtesting, I found it quite fun despite the purpose it was intended to fill, and discovered methods to exploit the maneuver as well that I ultimately decided to leave in for advanced players.
The tumble dash's properties change with each Chaos Emerald collected, becoming faster and more refined.

In both of the above I jumped out of the roll as soon as control was returned.

In the Shogakukan continuity, it's possible to enter a transformed state with only one Chaos Emerald. Try it yourself.

Try not to roll into any walls. Or don't, I'm not your dad.

This mod is really fun! I like the Tumbledash, it works really well as a "funishment" as you called it. I only had to play through Greenflower Act 1 before I decided I loved it. The only reason it's not five stars is that I couldn't uncurl in midair. I didn't read the overview long enough to see if that was intentional or not.

this is honestly a solid mod (kinda)
the automatic dropdash is kinda weird and i wish you could make it not go in only one direction, but when i got the emeralds and went super it felt so much better, dunno why, the sprites are good but they really REALLY remind me of amy's sprites, i dont know if they are an edited version of them or not, but i still like this addon.

The Tumbledash was intended to feel kinda weird. It's a type of mechanic i'm going to call a "funishment". if you break the rhythm of the intended gameplay loop (jump, curl, hit enemy, and uncurl before hitting ground) it's there to act as a punishment. otherwise it's there to be a traversal tool and a potential source of fun. It feels better in a transformed state because the punishment factor is designed to decrease with each emerald collected.

The sprites are, in fact, edited from Amy's. I am not trying my luck with custom sprites.
