Electric Circuit Zone

[Open Assets] Electric Circuit Zone 1.0

I realize what you all mean about it being too unintuitive and unforgiving, and I'll try and find something to do about that. But until then, here's some tips for the big jump, the part I've seen people get stuck on the most:
  • First off, make sure you're charged! I've done it once or twice without being charged, but that's not something to rely on. The reason this is important is because it makes you fall slower while holding the twirl move, which gives you more time to hold the move (to get more height) before you hit the ground.
  • Also, be sure you do in fact hold it as long as you can. Start holding Spin while you're at the peak of your jump so you have as much time as possible.
  • Keep holding Jump while you perform the move. This way you'll still be in a glide technically, which should give you more height.
  • From my experience, it helps if you're in dash mode while you do this.
  • I suggest you practice this by yourself first. In hindsight, making it a circuit race map might not have been the best idea.
This is the first real map I've made and published, so I understand your low reviews. Once this problem is resolved though, I encourage you to come back and re-evaluate it if you'd like. Here's some measures I may take:
  • Changing Sparks' code so the game automatically holds a glide while performing the twirl move, even if you aren't holding Jump.
  • Putting some kind of visual indicator on the map of what you're supposed to do—I'm picturing a sign with a pictorial diagram showing Sparks in dash mode starting a jump, with a dotted line showing the trajectory of the jump, stopping at the peak, then showing a twirl move being held until she hits the ground. That's kind of wordy, but I think I can make something that's easy to follow.
I'd appreciate any feedback on those plans, or if there's anything else you can suggest. I want this map to be as enjoyable as possible.
