X Sonic

X Sonic v1.1c

SO MUCH FOR NOT WANTING TO TAKE THIS FURTHER THERE IS NOT A SINGLE GAME I EVER HEARD IT CALLED A MOMENTUM ROLL
Pretty sure she's talking about what you call X Sonic's "Drop Dash". Calm down and realize that she's clearly talking about two different things. A Drop Dash, and a Momentum Roll. We've established the origin of the Drop Dash, so we know what it is. However, she mentions a new concept, a Momentum Roll. Nobody has brought it up before, but X Sonic's "Drop Dash" being an actual Drop Dash has been contested, so "Momentum Roll" seems to be referring to X Sonic's move as something different entirely.

I do agree with her as calling it a Drop Dash is very generous. Drop Dashes give substantial amounts of speed while X Sonic's move kind of just allows you to redirect speed you already have as far as I can tell. If it adds extra speed, it's an incredibly marginal amount.

You also can't do it from a standstill. One of the best use cases for the Drop Dash (in classic games, at least) is going from completely idle to a fast pace in a snap, while any speed from X Sonic's "Momentum Roll" is speed you pretty much already had from his ground movement.

1.quit the caps dude
2.to be fair theres literally no name for just running then holding down mid air to use your momentum to roll:worry:
Never in my life was it called a momentum roll you made that up becasue you are probably 3 years old. As long as its in the air and falls to the ground DROPPING to a DASH. Look at that its a DROP DASH

She actually denied calling it drop dash, im the one calling it drop dash

Yes, it does add extra speed. And yes, it's an incredibly marginal amount.

You also can't do it from a standstill. One of the best use cases for the Drop Dash (in classic games, at least) is going from completely idle to a fast pace in a snap, while any speed from X Sonic's "Momentum Roll" is speed you pretty much already had from his ground movement.
To be specific, you're required to hold any directional button before you land in order to use this move. So with good timing you can technically do it from a standstill (although the result isn't really worth it).

Also as far as I'm aware the longer you charge the Drop Dash before landing the faster you dash once you do land (although the maximum charge is achieved in a very short time). X Sonic's move on the other hand gives you a fixed (negligible) amount of speed no matter how long you hold the Spin button.

It's not about that, it's the fact I say one thing then a whole bunch of nut jobs start arguing, if they think its wrong there is no need to alert the whole population
i don't get how that's bad though, and they aren't "alerting the whole population".

calling me 3 years old because of something i didnt know it was called is wild btw
~~also thats still just redirecting momentum from your movement mid air instead of a standstill but whatever~~
oh wait you also called someone 2 years old bcs of an expression/exaggeration that they didnt know about
yeah no this argument is in bad faith im just gonna leave it here

If you dont like me calling it drop dash don't bother arguing you started it I can call it whatever I want, I can call my phone a pocket sized computer junk load if I want, just shut you yapper

If you dont agree don't say anything
You didn't agree with us. You shouldn't have said anything.
Imagine making a hypocritical statement as a means to win an argument. Couldn't be me.

That defies the point of language.
You should refer to things as they are so that people know what you're talking about. If everyone called things whatever they wanted to call them nobody would be able to understand each other. In fact, this entire argument was started purely because of your arrogance in referring to something inaccurately and making no effort to understand why it's not what you're calling it.

I could call the Homing Attack the Thok instead, but that's not accurate to what it is, is it?
I can say that I can call the Homing Attack a Thok because it's a move used in mid-air to propel Sonic forward, but they are not the same thing. Just as the Homing Attack differs from the Thok in the manner that it actually homes in on enemies, The Drop Dash differs from X Sonic's move in that it actually gives meaningful amounts of speed instead of being a weak ability used primarily to redirect momentum.

I will not respond further. If you still refuse to understand why calling X Sonic's move a Drop Dash is a problem, then live in ignorance.

ITS A DROP DASH PEOPLE CALL IT A "MOMENTUM ROLL" if I'm DROPPING and I get into a spinDASH like state, it's a DROPDASH, if nobody liked me calling it that so what, don't say anything. If you dont like it sucks to be you, just stop talking and don't respond, I didnt start the argument, I just called it a drop dash, never in my 10 years of playing sonic since 4 have i ever heard "MoMeNtUm RoLl"

You are probably 2 years old, its an expression dummy
what's up with you calling everyone a 2 year old??? and, i don't need to know every single saying or expression, alright?
If you dont agree don't say anything
if you agree YOU don't say anything.
sounds stupid, isn't it?

then i can call your pants a pair of shoes, that literally defies the use of names and stuff dude.

then what is the purpose of a DISCUSSION page dude???? none of your arguments make ANY sense whatsoever. now, let's see your "drop-dash".

before that i want to list something here-
here's the definition of a drop dash.
"the drop dash is a move that appears in the sonic the hedgehog series. It is a technique that, when used, makes the user launch a midair spin dash.

now he's the description of how it looks like in-game.
"when performing the drop dash, the user will begin to rapidly spin their body as they drop down to the ground, upon where they will be perform a quick spin dash and roll forward."

now let's actually see x sonic's "drop-dash"
View attachment srb20016.gif
as you see, i'm pressing the SPIN button midair, and im not charging up anything. but im not moving.
after that, i do the same thing while moving, but i still do not charge anything up, the speed you get isn't actually from your "drop-dash", it's from the speed i got by running before jumping. and if you're wondering how i ended up in a roll state, it's because i held down the SPIN button before landing. you can also do this by tapping the spin button once you touch the ground.

the "drop-dash" here does not fit any description or definition of an actual drop dash.

I DIDNT START THE ARGUMENT I CALLED IT A DROP DASH AND PEOPLE STARTED RIPPING MY TROAT OUT BECASUE OF IT, YOU ARE KINDA DUMB, OBVIOUSLY A 2 YEAR OLD CANT USE A DEVICE AND SPELL, SO WHAT IF I CALL IT A DROP DASH EVEN IF ITS NIT ITS CLOSE ENOUGH. ITS NOT MY ARGUMENT. A DROP DASH IS, GET THIS, DROPPING AND GETTING INTO A SPINDASH STATE, IF NO ONE WANTS TO ARGUE, THEN DONT, IF NO ONE CARES WHAT I SAY IGNORE IT, AS LONG AS I LIVE NO ONE CAN MAKE ME CALL IT A "MOMENTUM ROLL" I WILL CALL IT A DROP DASH AS LONG AS I LIVE
