Transformers: Jazz, Barricade, and Starscream

Hey there, here's the first build of the playable Autobot transformer: Jazz. The design is inspired by his 2007 TF1 Bayverse incarnation.

I think this mod is really cool so far!
If I could recommend one thing, it'd be to change the car form's steering, since it's a bit stiff.

Thanks for leaving your feedback and glad you've liked the mod! The steering is still in development and I can't quite grab hold of the most optimal control scheme. Is there anything specific that is stiff about the steering?

Along with the climbing, i suggest giving him his ROTF game ability set. 2 unique shooting weapons, climbing and a burst of speed. look up his gameplay on youtube if you don't know about it.

Bet. I'm working on climbing rn, and I'll most likely add a second weapon with the burst of speed.

You actually managed to figure out how to make the shooting sprites for midair and ground work consistently! The character itself is also pretty unique mechanically, wish you luck on your mod!

Nice to know that I wasn't the only one who felt the lack of Transformers franchise modded into this platforming game. Jazz is also one of my favorites, too bad he was killed off so soon, and thanks for your wishes :3
 
Here's a new update v0.2 of a moderate size. These are some features and bugfixes below:

Here's my newest update V0.3 for the mod! It is focused on improving and adding many mechanics, and some new abilities

- [x] Special Speed Boost ability affects this mode by increasing the Top Speed (you will notice it by new flaming marks left by tires)

- [x] Weaponry Rehaul!
- [x] ——>>>>> New weapon: Crescent Blaster. It is a heavy secondary weapon that is activated by holding the spin button on the ground or airborne. A slower, larger projectile affected by gravity will explode on contact with objects or surfaces. Explosion deals AOE damage to anyone in range, including the player who fired it, so be careful when using it!
- [x] The primary weapon Slug Repeater got minor timing changes due to the addition of Crescent Blaster
- [x] Falling on the ground while in the weaponry state will not cancel the state
- [x] Special Speed Boost ability affects this mode by increasing the Top Speed (you will notice it with the afterimage of Jazz)

The concern is that increased mobility features possibly make Jazz's car mode uncontrollable in some scenarios due to the increased speed cap.

For the future of this mode, I plan to expand the sprites to include more rotation (not just the front) and improve animations to give them a sassy personality (especially for transformations). There should be updated car mechanics sometime in the future because current driving seems to be quite stiff in some ways. Also, it is possible that one more ability will be added, it would be a second more stylish way to transform into a bot mode into breakdance by spinning on his head and hitting enemies around Jazz. Think of that ROTF game transform ability.

And of course, your feedback would be highly appreciated, I read and reply to every comment!

Update V0.4 is here everyone. As mentioned update had a major focus on updating the car mode, there are a lot of changes!

---------------- Features for the Car Mode ----------------

- [x] Traction system allows to simulate the tire grip of the car for oversteering, allowing for better drifts and more!
----- [x] Controlled grip: car is in full gas and steering control of the player
----- [x] Oversteered grip: car's steering angle is very high, controlling this state will allow for sick drifts!
-------- [x] Tip: Holding Gas and Brake will always put your in the oversteered state, allowing for even better maneuver
----- [x] No grip: car is either airborne or submerged in a liquid. There's no grip so you better transform :shitsfree:

- [x] Gear system allows you to switch between Drive, Park, and Reverse gears. This includes gear HUD visuals
----- [x] Activate Drive by just pressing Gas

Announcement on inviting people to the project the bottom!

Hey there, here's a more minor update V0.5 that focuses on rebalancing the current mechanics of the character. Here's the list:

---------------- Gameplay Changes ----------------

- [x] Weapon reloading is introduced
, now shooting too much will require some reload time
----- [x] Currently, the weapon mag is pretty low (9 bullets for Slug Repeater and one Blast for Crescent Blaster), but in turn the reloading times are short (1 and 2 seconds respectively)
----- [x] Getting hit by an enemy will immediately empty the mag and trigger the reloading time. As a punishment, all reloading times during the hit will be increased by one second

- [x] Park gear will now have a state of constantly starting a spindash that is not shown visually. This is done in order to trigger some areas that require spin dashing to open the walls (for example middle-end section of Deep Sea 2)
- [x] Power-up requirements are changed
----- [x] As a reminder, the power-up state will break walls, floors, ceilings, spikes, and empower springs
----- [x] Now power-up will only be triggered in the car mode after reaching high-speed requirements
----- [x] Power-up will not be triggered in Bot mode

- [x] Added a voice line upon destroying the Life Monitor, and I intend to increase the volume of all voice lines depending on your feedback

My choice leans toward 2007 movie incarnations of Barricade (a car), Blackout (a helicopter), or Starscream (a jet). It would be interesting to experiment with fitting such gameplay into this speedy platformer, but the work will start only after completing Jazz first!

Other than that, I would be focusing on improving and expanding the visuals such as sprites and hud. As you can see from existing sprites, I'm quite far from an artist, so it will take quite a long time to complete if I work solo. That is if I will work solo! I'm considering creating a group of developers who would want to work on finishing working on Jazz, and possibly start adding more transformers into the game. My stronger side is the LUA coding, so I primarily focused on inviting artists to help me draw sprites, but it would be cool for anyone who is passionate to join! The vision of the mode is focused on the early Bayverse incarnation of the franchise, such as the first two movies and their inspired games (Transformers: The Game and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen).

How far the Transformers mod will be expanded will be varied, it might just be Jazz if I'll work solo, or it might expand into many transformers for both Autobots and Decepticons. It will all depend on whether I will be able to find people to help me out.

This is a 11/10 mod. But like, im a bit of a mobile player when im not using my Pc ._. soo this mod on my phone is a bit too hard at the car transformation (sadly I can't move around with the car and it's a bit bad for me on mobile not being able to move around) but still 11/10 mod.
 
Thanks for bringing my attention to the mobile devices. I’ll make sure to account for that in the future updates, just need to figure out how people are playing mobile.
