What is the point of this thread if we don't have any idea on what the project is? We more detail for us to be able to ask questions and speculate.
 
It looks like you posted prematurely. It's usually a good idea to not post a new topic before you have the content of the first post ready.

Note to the mods and admins, I've been aware of this project for several months now. a WIP does exist and I want to see where this goes. I have not given formal permission for this project, but the way I look at SRB2 the Past, as long as they put in the work, they can release their port and any enhancements they add to it. Despite SRB2 the Past 2.0 getting closer to completion.

Hey everyone! It's Soup here! And I am announcing publicly that a new project based on SRB2TP will be made!

(WARNING! TL;DR: FEEL FREE TO IGNORE THIS!)

Before explaining details, it should be worth mentioning that this was indeed under covers for a couple months now. More specifically, in the SRB20YA server. Unfortunately, some stuff shared in the threads were lost due to a 2-week kick which I won't specify because it will aggravate the situation. This alternate version was created a few days prior to when SRB2TP 2.0 was announced publicly thanks to teaser images, which if you haven't checked, please take your time to do that. When this sort of stuff was revealed, many people were kinda excited. As for Glaber, he was perfectly OK with this project and such. I made it clear that this wasn't made to steal from Glaber and he and everyone agreed.

Out of boredom, I decided that to not stretch the development further. I decided to release a Halloween demo (which I've noticed it's kind of a common practice lol). Unfortunately, it was kind of a mistake because I knew the hype was gonna make me late on some IRL stuff, but KrazeeTobi (owner of the said server) and Ricardo AJP were kind enough to volunteer and help the project boost, and so I agreed. He made a channel exclusive for beta testing, a build was shared and there was a netgame hosted for it. Needless to say, it was chaotic (in a good way of course).

Some stuff were being shared, postpones kinda happened due to you-know-what... But then, when I got kicked, development stopped. There were too much drama going on and IRL stuff to keep me going which lead to me being completely screwed. Not to mention, the beta testers probably left afterwards, as if the situation hasn't aggravated enough. Now that I am alone, it's safe to say that the build(s) will be split into patches for each day until the next demo comes out. This is possibly the only way the demo gets saved. I shouldn't worry about this type of stuff, but I knew this would sabotage my project. So sorry if this got a bit derailed. Anywho, let's move on!

Here's some FAQs about this project:

Q1: Is this made in response to SRB2TP 2.0?
A1: Like I have mentioned, this was made PRIOR to when stuff was revealed publicly about 2.0. Back then, SRB2 2.0 was kind of a port (w/ ACZ & reworked objects) of the original, but during some time, stuff was planned and it was all hype. So no.

Q2: Is this a portleg of some sorts?
A2: No, Glaber's project is about 95% reusable. The other 5 are for low effort portlegs that Glaber didn't consent to. (ahem- gamebanana -AHEM!-) And he was totally OK with the project as previously mentioned.

Q3: Are you stealing from Glaber?
A3: ABSOLUTELY NOT, THIS ISN'T BEING SNATCHED AWAY BEHIND HIS BACK IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM POSSIBLE. (sorry for caps, kinda important notice)

Q4: Is there any way I could be a beta tester?
A4: Absolutely! I am currently looking for beta testers for my project, some are being chosen based on talents and careers. I can't recruit anybody at the moment, but after 1 or 2 patches are released I will make some sort of survey. (wink wink ;) )

Q5: Can I be a developer?
A5: Depends honestly. While it will mostly consist of reusable content like 2.0, I don't have trusts for anyone to be in at the moment. I am currently looking for beta testers, level porters, mode revampers, LUA & SOC coders, and skin programmers. It will be hard, so a patch will be made after a couple of demos and some other thingamajigs with new faces on the team.

Q6: Is there any new content being released?
A6: Definitely. Although, give me some time, the Halloween demo is only the VERY tip of the iceberg of when it's to come. Details coming up anytime soon.

Q7: Why was this project made?
A7: Intially made out of boredom, but it's having some development now. It will pay much more homage to the old SRB2 builds individually. And will feature additional individual content and WIPs, like new LUAs, PK3s and SOCs based on extra modes, character skins, custom objects, archives, etc... (note: this was already planned since the very beginning)

Q8: Like SRB2TP 2.0, is this reusable?
A8: Obviously. Otherwise, nothing regarding it would be reusable. Feel free to make some mods and other stuff. However, I am not too certain about the future.

That gif of Speed Highway looks extremely similar to the one in IFrickBees1's Demo 2 Remastered mod, the only differences I have found are the enemies being cut, the majority of the level being cut, and the different textures. Not to mini-mod or anything but you might possibly get in trouble when you release the mod on the mb and someone finds out about this since Demo 2 Remastered is not reusable.

You do realize this is only a port right? Also, I never used this stage, because...

1. I don't even like this mod.
2. It's a remake, so out of the question it goes.
3. There was a file prior to this remake, hence why it looks familiar.

It's only a beta unfortunately, due to the fact that I had a deadline to release this, so I haven't worked on this for 2 weeks, which... Damn! That is a lot! But, it's a WIP, so please feel free to give me suggestions, complaints, glitches, bugs and other reports and I will try to get them worked out. Anyways, I hope you enjoy and have a blast! I can explain this one. The Map in question is actually a development 98 map that Demo 2 Remastered expanded upon.

nothing multiplayer specific, just a way to open up certain unlockables that would be otherwise inaccessable in co-op due to how the unlockables system works
 
Hey everybody!

I have announcements to make!

First off, thanks for the reception of SRB2TPDX! (yes, the abbreviation is similar to SRB2TLDX but do not be confused by it lel) Despite being so little... I am currently looking for suggestions in this thread of how you could improve it and other changes. As well as complaints, bugs and other such previously mentioned.

A bit off-topic but kinda worth mentioning is that this technically NOT the first demo's final release, as some things are not according to plan. A list will be made regarding these issues pointed by yours truly.

Another off-topic thing is that there was infact, a second demo being released. Originally titled "Thanksgiving Demo". It still included the Halloween levels, and the museum would look the same as the abandoned/under construction one from the previous demo. It's main highlight would be an unfinished version/preview of a revamped Beta Quest, as the previous Beta Quest recreation was based on Demo 2. Now that it's going forward, it's going to be based on previous lost betas and concepts as well as the 1998 prototype screenshots.
It was originally slated to release on November 13th, Demo 1's 21st anniversary, but it got scrapped after the release of the first demo due to:

1. A planned hiatus from the project until December, also to be told
2. Less ambitious demo in my take, though only one thing at a time is still a choice :P
3. Planned stuff in November. Previous stuff I had in-the-works on October were postponed and planned to be done this weekend, but unfortunately, it's the time of the year to be sick with the cold weather and also exams. FUCK MY LIFE. Oh yeah! And no n... nevermind...
4. Lack of interest in SRB2. I kinda gained some sort of reputation doing this crap and I knew this would be hype and shit. To make sure I didn't let anyone down I made this and stuff... :P

Now that's all of the way, why exactly am I having a hiatus? All of the stuff shared in the list apply here, but more fleshed out. I have mentioned once, but I don't think anyone heard it. I am having my career started online, I have a dead-as-fuck YT channel that is going to be my major role, it's where I upload animations, gaming, arts and stuffs, some animations planned and some Sonic Xtreme stuff to fill in. (i'm an xtreme fan btw heh) Because this sort of crap isn't gonna let me fill the other scheduled stuff, I went fuck-all and pause this. Sometimes we need a break, don't we? I didn't really want to stretch this much longer, due to interest and stuff. That doesn't mean I'm quitting, not at all. I have an OFFICIAL (as-in: not a beta) release. I don't have a deadline luckily, so I will be spending most of my freetime working on this. Patches will be released, skins will be released. Stuff will happen. And also, a NEW demo on December 24th... ;) (wink wink)

For now, a patch for this is gonna be made, but for the love of all that's holy, DO NOT ASK ME when it's done! It's not guaranteed to come out SOON! I'll work whenever I feel like it. Because I am tired of SRB2 stuff going on, I loved it but it was fun while it lasted. Now it's time to get serious.

Dead. Fucking. SERIOUS. (only legends will get it)

Problems with the original release:

1. Missing wind sound effects in the museum.
2. Deep Sea texture leftovers.
3. Broken textures.
4. Unfinished level design and porting.
5. No skin bundled yet.
6. Act 2 is the same ported version as Glaber. No changes except level headers.
7. No credits available yet. Only in the .txt file. Also unfinished.
8. Lack of beta testers, due to the rushed pace of development.
9. Match, Tag, Race and Hide & Seek broken and STUPID UNFINISHED.
10. Co-op not being tested.
11. SOC leftovers from 1.08.c and missing lumps (to be removed and replaced)
12. Silent TGF intro (to be removed)

Sorry to reply on a post that's half a month old, but what is SRB2TPDX?
