Ring Racers Suggestions

The final score tally in Grand Prix should have the following added to it:
  • What difficulty the GP was completed on
  • Gameplay-modifying passwords used, i.e. "timetolose" (Level Skull) and "let's get fired up!" (Gear 4); these could be indicated via icons
  • If the game is marked as modified, display an icon
  • If cheats were turned on at any point during the GP, display an icon (this should be controlled by an internal variable inaccessible to the player)

oh, that's good, but it's still dumb. I'm playing the noire version of DRRR and in the options I can turn off lives so I don't get penalized for losing them
Albeit not entirely on topic, what is the Noire version of DRRR? I've heard it has some fixes here and there, but never found a download.

I saw someone else mention this and it's an excellent idea: I'd love to be able to designate palettes for a modded character's rivals to use without the use of lua. I've observed very often that modded characters with minimal SEGA overlap use basegame rivals to "represent" other characters from their home series. For example, imagine a Bowser setting Amy as a rival to represent Princess Peach. If you could set something like charactername-palette in the rivals section of your SOC, you could make much clearer allusions - imagine a pink Azusa accomplishing the same goal. It would also help give a given character's three rivals more personality: the two rivals who don't get selected on any given grand prix now still have that indication of "being associated with your player character" at all times.

A QOL thing, monitors in Time Attack should be painted gold for beating all gold times in that cup's line up or platinum for beating all platinum times.
The same way Grand Prix has their monitors painted for winning a cup.

It will help in checking up on progress for medals.

Ring Racers Noire is a custom fork of the game with additional options and fixes here and there, including the ability to customize various mechanics and bot behavior (with the caveat that it only works with local play as far as I'm aware). There's no outright release download as far as I know of, you need to build it yourself. Fortunately, srb2bld (github repository here as well) makes this a lot easier if you're willing to jump through a couple of hoops and aren't afraid of using the command line a little.

You guys should make an option in the profile settings so ironman characters like Heavy Magician can turn into other characters' default colors if the default color is selected. I understand if you guys can't do it cuz of engine limitations or something similar.

That is definitely possible. Just check if the players skincolor is Heavy's prefcolor and change the players color to the next skins prefcolor if it is

Add a random track button to the online voting screen and also make it so battle maps and oncore mode can randomly appear as stuff you can vote on
To add onto that, I would also like to see a random character selection option as well.

Not sure if suggested yet but PLEASE for the love of god, add a second or two delay on the NPCs realizing you have zero rings, at least FIFTY times by now, I'll hit 0 rings and within .2 seconds another racer is smacking me to spin out. In an actual race vs people it'd be absurd for other players to instantly recognize you ran out of rings faster than even you realize it and it's so fucking annoying to get smacked instantly after using all your rings to get top speed, it's happened so much I'm realizing at this point its no coincidence, these AIs instanteanously know you ran out of rings in a fraction of a second and dumpster you for it and its so fucking annoying.

Love this game but this has gotten under my skin enough to make a post here.

Is it possible to make the delay limit feature optional? It is so, so frustrating because it will kick you out at the most minor lag spike. If you're able to raise the delay limit, then I feel that you should be able to disable it entirely. I know the delay limit is ideal for bigger lobbies, but it'd be really nice to not be constantly kicked out over lag spikes when I'm playing with friends. If you consider this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

A second page to the character select for add-on characters would be nice, so their slots can avoid overlapping with the base roster.
You can actually already cycle through pages of characters - it's either the item, drift or respawn button, pressing it will show the next layer of characters down on the select screen until there aren't any more characters to show (so in vanilla with all characters unlocked, tapping once will show you Emerl, Eggrobo and Ring, tapping twice will show you Heavy Magician, and tapping again will bring you back to the first page). I don't use it much, since I find it more convenient to navigate on the first page, but it's there and seems like it's pretty much what you're asking for.

A counter showing how many rings are currently in your reserve would also be a nice thing to add imo.
Yeah, I agree, some kind of counter and/or bar showing you how many excess rings you have remaining would certainly be handy to help you know when you have a ring boost going on and when it's going to end. It'll certainly remove an element of guessing and make it easier to plan when to use your standard ring reserve.
