How do you feel about the thok being replaced?

As a fan of Sonic Robo Blast 2, I have mixed feelings about the recent decision to remove the iconic "thok" ability from the game. On one hand, I understand the developers' desire to refine the gameplay and create a more balanced experience. The thok was an incredibly powerful move, allowing Sonic to zip through levels with incredible speed and agility. However, it also made the game somewhat one-dimensional, as players would often rely solely on the thok to navigate the stages. By removing the thok, the developers are encouraging players to explore alternative strategies and fully utilize the game's diverse moveset. While I appreciate the intention behind this change, a part of me will always miss the exhilarating rush of soaring through levels with the thok. Sonic Robo Blast 2 will undoubtedly feel different without it, but perhaps this adjustment will ultimately lead to a more engaging and well-rounded gameplay experience.

Yea yea, It's true!

The thok is just that one subject in a community that is really controversial and can turn peaceful talks into raging discussions/arguments, if you've read the whole thread, you know what I'm talking about.

I want it to stay as i love the speed and utility of Thok in levels HOWEVER I know its not beginner friendly and can be unappealing for them.

Hopefully the new ability allows us to keep speed and have some sort of skill based traversal with in levels.

I honestly feel like it'd be a lot better to just add a option for less experienced players to use the new move, and experienced to use the thok. (Maybe something like if you complete the game you'd earn the thok?)
Honestly a lot more customizability would make it be at least somewhat better, instead of removing the thok entirely.

NOTE: I probally shouldn't have made this thread, I AM NOW GETTING KNOCKS AT MY DOOR FOR PEOPLE TO CHANGE MY OPINION PLEASE HELP

Well ok?

Its too fast so you mostly will just fall in a pit and when you dont it just hard to control
and if there made a air dash just make a homing attack. in the end its fine but it could be better

ok true but experienced players can use it easier without any mistakes, so tbh it would make more sense to just be able to toggle between 3 options in settings:
1: The Thok
2: Homing Thok
3: whatever the fuck the replacement is

sounds like a skill issue
In my experience, I had this issue in the beginning, but I soon learned the speed and trajectory of the thok and to either skip platforms if they're too close or just not thok to them.
TLDR: ur just bad loser LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!111!!!!!!!11!11!!!!!!!!!!!1111111!1!!11!one!!!!!! (joke but u still kinda bad if your overshooting)

Personally, the thok is my favorite movement ability of any game I've ever played, so I'd be sad to see it removed/replaced. I'd be ok with it going on another character if it plays identically.

I don't know why you all are acting like the thok is this great and deeply nuanced move. Any depth in a move that is just "make player go fast" is completely accidental and some of you are jumping through so many hoops just to make it "balanced" like it needs saving.
What does the high skill ceiling have to do with whether or not it was accidental? Intentional or not, it's undeniably there. It's not at all unlike wave dashing in Melee, which was an unintended mechanic that was discovered by the player base and ended up becoming the meta due to the high skill ceiling and the objective superiority of using it as opposed to not competitively. Go tell the Melee playerbase that wave dashing has no viability because its utility is entirely accidental and see where that gets you.

Also, it's not jumping through hoops. It's simply just saying it like it is. For many people who have been playing the game for a long time, the thok is deeply engrained in the meta and is their preferred method of play. Do you think there's something wrong with us defending that which we are passionate about?

Thok was never good.

While opinions may vary, I respectfully disagree with the statement that "Thok was never good" in the context of SRB2 (Sonic Robo Blast 2). Thok, for those who may not be familiar, is a move introduced in SRB2 that allows Sonic the Hedgehog to perform a mid-air dash in a forward direction.

Thok has been an integral part of SRB2's gameplay mechanics for many years, and it has contributed to the unique and fast-paced nature of the game. It adds an extra layer of mobility and speed to Sonic's moveset, allowing players to traverse levels with greater efficiency and engage in thrilling platforming sequences. Thok has become a defining feature of SRB2's gameplay, distinguishing it from other Sonic fan games and even some official Sonic titles.

Moreover, Thok has been celebrated by the SRB2 community and players alike for its effectiveness and enjoyment factor. It has enabled players to pull off impressive speedruns, navigate intricate level designs, and execute precise maneuvers. The skillful use of Thok has often been a key element in achieving high-level play and pushing the boundaries of what can be accomplished within the game.

Of course, personal preferences can differ, and it's entirely valid for someone to have their own perspective on Thok or any game mechanic. However, it's essential to acknowledge that Thok has been well-received by a significant portion of the SRB2 community and has contributed positively to the gameplay experience for many players.

Ultimately, whether Thok is considered "good" or not is subjective and open to interpretation. However, it is undeniable that Thok has played a crucial role in shaping SRB2's unique identity and has been a beloved aspect of the game for countless players over the years.

I think its a safe assumption that if you're on the official SRB2 message board forum on a post discussing a key element of the gameplay currently, you already are a fan of SRB2 or knowledgable about SRB2 and how it plays. You don't really need to explain what the thok is or post the unabbreviated name for SRB2 next to the abbreviated one lol

Besides, who the hell names air dash "Thok"?

No like seriously who came up with a name like that
