How do you feel about the thok being replaced?

We should have options for each character's abilities. Maybe some abilities could be unlockable?

I don't mind either way as I will enjoy the game eitherway, but for me personally I think removing completely Sonic's jump ability could be a completely viable option as well

I don't think he'd benefit very much though. Everyone else has a way to help them platform, and if Sonic had none, it would probably be much harder.

I knew STJr. was workshopping a thok replacement at one point, but hasn't that been abandoned?
What I mean is wasn't it said before that the thok would actually be staying the same?
Can you find any statement on that? As far to my knowledge, they scrapped both the physics and Thok change and are at the drawing board cooking up a replacement.
I think that the Thok should stay, it really is a part of this game's lagacy. Heck, SA Sonic's Air Dash move got renamed to "Short Thok" or something along those lines BECAUSE of the community context. I feel the Thok doesn't have as high as a skill floor that some people claim to. I get when you first start, how you want to gravitate to Sonic only and then start going into pits because of it. The Thok is a tool though, not a safety net. Most people get it wrong though, and the tutorial should probably explain the mechanic better imo. The Thok also has an pretty high skill ceiling imo. The difference from when I did my first few playthroughs to how I play a custom map for the first time now is insane. The improvement and control you can have over the Thok is actually pretty impressive when you're not spamming it. And from the footage of the replacement that got scrapped, it looked god awful. If it's bad enough that a new player can't control one mechanic, how could you expect them to learn one that does multiple different actions? I really hope that they keep the Thok and try to plan the level design and the *potential* Physics change around it.
tl;dr Thok gud, keep pls

ANOTHER thing I wanted to add (you can ban me if I talk too much lol) is how I'd rather play as Sonic than the other characters. Because it's fun. With Tails and Knuckles, you can skip the hard sections of the level and move on with your life. For a beginner, that's fine, but I don't think that's fun. You have the option to go through the level like a normal person, but you choose not to. How could anyone think, "Damn, I just skipped a whole entire level, that's way past cool"?! Flying over hard sections doesn't make you better at the game. It just leaves you feeling empty inside.

Or, well, emptier than usual.

Now, while playing with Sonic, you take the time to get to know the thok and the game. After completing a hard part of the level, you feel good! Because you got better at the game! Sonic's playthrough doesn't give you the option to skip the level, and it's through that that the player truly masters the thok.

That's why I play encore mod for SRB2. -w-
Gives me a reason to try Sonic, cuz I'd usually rather not.
