Honestly, I don't think slopes are all that important. They're easier to make stairs, but being OpenGL only is a huge middle-finger to the some people that can't run OpenGL correctly.

Some maps I make (In SRB2X, my level pack) will be software AND OpenGL friendly, meaning I will make one version for vanilla SRB2 and one for CB with slopes and what-not, so everyone can play the map and the ones with slow computers can use software mode.

You see, you don't have enough imagination when it comes to this. You're thinking of slopes as a way to smooth out stairs. In reality, they're a lot more than that. They'll allow for a dynamic new aspect to levels that will allow things to be done that were never done before. If you don't get what I mean, I guess you'll just have to wait for my first Community Build level to be finished. At the moment, I haven't started it, but that is only because of the OLDC.

This all doesn't even mention the skybox feature, which alone will allow you to use rich visual environment around your levels. That's one of the biggest draws for me,along with slopes.

First of all he said he doesn't think slopes are as important or vital to SRB2 as some put them to be. Second just because someone doesn't find slopes appealing or rather not use them doesn't mean they have no imagination when it comes to level design, since it is very evident that people are capable of making great levels without CB's features. This isn't to say though that CB can expand level design, but please don't dismiss people who prefer to design levels without CB as unimaginative or simply being stubborn for not trying CB's features, they may not be able to.

Anyhow, Kalaron I have to say this is an impressive mod and I was quite surprised upon seeing for the first time in editing. Heh, I even thought it was to good to be true when I first saw it. I hope you continue to work on this and as well as the SRB2 community as the title says. Hopefully I'll be able to try this mod soon when I get a new computer.

But all he thought of was smoothing out stairs with slopes. In his posts, he never even spoke a bit of all the possible things you could do with slopes.

Hey, I never said he, or anyone, for that matter, had no imagination. The closest I said was that they needed MORE imagination. The reason I said that? Because from what he said, I got the impression that he thought of slopes only as a way to make smoother stairs. A rather fair impression, if you ask me. But you see, that's not all they are. Slopes will allow us to make things that never even could have been made with stairs. I don't mind if someone doesn't care to use them, but it annoys me that he's brushing them off as something only decorative.

I think only thing Tyler really wanted to say is that if CB would be used more then software mode, some people wouldn´t be able to play SRB2 anymore (like me). He also hasn´t said slopes are completly useless, he just wanted to say that they are not worthy of people leaving SRB2.

You're... right!

Fair enough, I do admit I misread his post, but I didn't mean that you were specifically calling everyone unimaginative but not to call them that for not using slopes. But that really doesn't matter now since it was my error of misreading and jumping to conclusions. Anyways sorry about that.

Also Virt, I was speaking about everyone in general not just Tyler, since it seemed at the moment I posted that the general idea was that: Using Slopes is creative, not using them isn't. Obviously that wasn't the case.

Also just a quick question, with slopes is it possible to make spheres, since I was thinking of making a map involving planets in the BG.

Ok, little update:

I'm going to do a re-sync to the latest version of SRB2 (2.0.6).

This will fix all the little issues people have been having that aren't related to any new SRB2CB features.

So tell me if there's any problems with the way the current official SRB2 (2.0.6) handles OpenGL mode window management/stability wise
This re-synced version of SRB2CB will put back in its fixed OpenGL system, but I'm going to leave all the other default stuff like window management in place so nobody has issues with this mod that aren't related to the mod.

Example: People reported that you can't close the OpenGL window or it causes issues with your system or your taskbar, etc.

Basically, just tell me if the current official SRB2 works fine, because that's what's SRB2CB is moving to. (right now SRB2CB is based on an older version of SRB2)

This re-sync will fix problems people have been having with SRB2CB - since most issues reported aren't about the actual features (such as the killing when switching skins, analog gliding issues, network play issues) - all of those will be fixed with this re-sync

Sorry to interrupt, but can you explore inside OpenGL (2.0.6Ver) By yourself? Do you know how or is it just laggy on your computer that its not possible to explore the stuff inside it?

.

No problem. I tend to do the same thing a lot anyways, and I probably did in this thread multiple times already.

And Tyler52, I guess I can see what you mean, although I personally would take slopes any day. I hope that in what I said, I didn't come off as too offensive, or like I hated you or anything. Quite the contrary, I think you're pretty cool, and I'm pretty confident of your skills to make a good level pack. :D

Ah, and Kalaron, I've got a clear idea of how I'm gonna make the Community Build Introduction/Test level. I think I'm probably gonna wait for FOF Slopes before I start it though, because they'll be really useful in it.

You play in analog mode right fawfulfan? I think the MFE camera works alright for non analog, but in some instances (ERZ1 crushers for sonic) it completely messes up the experience for analog mode players.

I think it should be disabled analog, but enabled for normal chasecam. I don't know if MFE camera works well in normal chasecam though.

So I finally got around to updating my CB version.

-I'm glad to see the real-time slope morphing, but a lot of the bugs in that test map I made for you still haven't been fixed.
-Speaking of the slope morphing, I had completely forgotten about it when I was designing another map. Could we get that assigned to a flag, either Effect 2 to disable or No Climb to enable?

How do the 2D Aligning Objects work? I've been experimenting with these for awhile now and haven't had any results yet..

So I found out netgaming is possible on SRB2CB...
