Ever played as Tails and thought "man, I really wish Tails was BETTER at speedrunning"?
...no?
Well, too bad - introducing SkyFox, product of the question "how can I make Tails even faster than he already is?", which then devolved into this monstrosity of a mod. Obligatory first mod warning - I've ironed it out as best I can, but updates will come if/when more bugs are found (probably).
New Flight Mechanics
Straight out of the box, Tails now can fly longer and faster! Flight time has been buffed to 12 seconds, and flightspeed matches your base run speed. Swimming is also unlimited now, and has gotten a slight speed boost as well.
Additionally, you no longer have to jump to fly - if you're in the air at all (and haven't used a shield ability), simply press Jump and you'll be on your way! Airfall and aircurl are built in, too, so you'll never be out of options in the air - you can even curl after being hurt to save yourself, or to get back into the action quicker.
And finally, on your first jump, Tails will get a massive vertical boost, allowing you to traverse wide gaps or tall structures with ease. Hold Jump for a quicker stop, or release at just the right time to soar even higher! After this boost, Tails will continue flying normally (you can also just tap Jump if you don't need the height). The descent rate has also been changed to accomodate.
(technically speaking, this is actually a bug in the code, but I'm keeping it)
Atmospheric Reentry
Sometimes while flying, you may need to actually get down faster than you can simply by gliding or aircurling - don't worry, Tails has you covered! Pressing Custom1 while flying will make Tails curl up again - and pressing it a second time, or whenever you're in freefall, will shoot him downwards at high velocity.
It's even fast enough to break certain floors!
(Pro tip: Use this ability repeatedly when running to build up a lot of speed quickly. Combine it with a slope for even more momentum!)
Super Form
Tails now has a Super form, but since he's the youngest of the cast, he needs to collect 75 rings instead of the usual 50 before he can go Super.
Going Super will let you fly forever, as well as giving you infinite flight boosts and a faster descent, and removes the need for oxygen. Your spindash is also buffed.
If you ever get tired of your flashy new look, you can always press Custom2 while in the air to go back to normal.
Dashmode (sorta)
Run fast enough, and you'll notice Tails start to flash a bit. When Tails is in his dashmode state, rolling will let you break through spikes - but not running. Don't forget to uncurl afterwards if you don't want to hit a wall!
If you're Super, you'll always break spikes no matter what - don't let anything get in your way!
(Pro tip #2: Really wanna show Metal Sonic who's boss? You don't need to wait for your dashmode to activate - simply going fast enough will trigger it. Try a charged-up spindash!)
Other Changes
You can run on water at your default run speed. Pressing Custom1 will let you fall through the surface and into the depths below.
Momentum is built in as well. (Compatibility with similar mods untested, player beware)
Various sprites have been changed from vanilla. (is it called "chocolate" now or something?)
Tails is shorter than the rest of the cast, so he's able to fit through small spaces most others wouldn't. (Inspired by ChrispyChars)
The Super theme has been changed to something more upbeat.
You can change whether uncurling is a hold or a toggle by setting
There's a few things I left out of this version, but can still be found inside the file. Take a look inside and mess around!
