With all 7 Super Emeralds collected, Sonic has transformed into Hyper Sonic!
Hyper Sonic has 9 speed and 1 weight. He emits sparkles and doesn't use a kart, but there's more stuff that makes him unique.
His top speed and acceleration are higher than almost every other character out there, making him extremely broken if you're good at the game. He is NOT invincible like you might expect.
AIR DASH
If you press BRAKE + DRIFT in the air, Hyper Sonic dashes forward with a Sneaker speed boost on landing! You can only use this once in the air. It negates your vertical speed, making it useful if you want to avoid air time.
It is also useful if you want to actually play this map.
RING ENERGY
Only available as a challenge in free play races, Hyper Sonic starts with a counter at the top of the screen that drains every second. If it hits zero before you finish the race, you lose on the spot!
Sonic will also sternly ask you how you lost with this broken character.
The counter increments and decrements with:
Setting it to 0 disables the mechanic entirely.

- Drift sparks (+5, +10, +15, based on the drift's charge)
- Sneakers, boost pads, and similar (+10, will not apply while currently boosting, air dashes do not count)
- Tricking with Acrobatics (+5, +10, +15, +20, +30, based on the trick's rank)
- Hitting a wall (-5, will not apply for a little bit after you decremented the counter)
- Taking damage (-10, will not apply for a little bit after you decremented the counter)
- Falling off the map (-15)
