Welcome everyone, to my third released map! Probably my best looking one. ... Even if it's nothing compared to some other creators works. But don't let that fool you: Instead, come try it out. I swear, the best underwater zone in Classic Sonic has been given some justice.
The map id is MAPWP. Feel free to modify it if the server you're running already uses it. As I said, you can modify the map as you wish. Go ham.
First and foremost: Why the L in the name of the file? Well, you observant guest (or just you reading through this, idk), that's because this track is a showcase for a Lua file created by Indev, the WaterRun! It... Lets you... Run on water. It is, however, combined to great effect with the No water skip lua created by Jugador, as seen in this clip demonstrating the two working together.
So yeah, the map works with the two together to create a fairly unique challenge. Can you stay afloat, or will you sink?
Now for an overview of the map, as per usual.
Is that a shortcut right at the beginning? I don't know, this one looks really risky to take... Please, be cautious.

Followed by a neat little U-Turn, just to get your bearings. It's your first water run after all, let's not get too crazy.
You know me by now, I do love myself one good downhill turn like that.
Oooh, now we're turning while water running, how daring. But also, you can choose to go over or underwater! How cool is that?
Hey, that's the thumbnail shot!
And both bath join back together, switching the over and underwater. Everyone shall get a taste of it!
... For about 4 seconds tops. Hey, at least Sonic is running!
Woo, look at him go :D
I actually love this room. Two quick U-turns back to back like that, it feels really nice...
Wait, there's an opening on the upper right corner... does that mean... Shortcut?
You can bet it does!

Heck yes, it's the log cut! ... You know, you run through a cut in Aquatic Ruin, so I thought putting it there was a cool reference... I was trying at least. Plus the cut is cool, it shows the other aspect of that water run Lua, that being that the speed required to stay afloat is halved when in a boost. do not, this is specifically a SNEAKER shortcut. No other item can get you to go there. (Unless perhaps some Orbinaut shenanigans)
Ahem, anyways. We're nearing the end now. Look at this backstraight. Hope you know how to handle wet tires, 'cause you're gonna need to if you want to stay on top.
It keeps going up for a bit, with Tails trying his best to keep up. He isn't as fast as your kart, why do you think he helped Eggman build the Ring Racer?
Just a skip, hop and a jump, through these loops in that turn, and we're at the end!
...Well, not before some chicanery... Ah...
So that's the map. Explore through it, have fun, and enjoy yourself. If you read all the way down here, cheers! I appreciate it. Have a good day.

- Indev, duh, the whole map is built on his Lua. He's been super nice and friendly and let me make a map to showcase his work. He also helped me actually set up the Lua properly and fix some desynch issues.
- Jugador, once again, for making the other part of the Lua. If it wasn't for that, the parts where it's part of the gameplay to fall off would feel so much worse.
- All the folks at SFG who helped with the playtesting: They caught some massive shells I hadn't seen and/or considered. I may be the map maker, but it's also thanks to them that the map plays well.
