Personally, my favorite Sonic fangame is Sonic Galactic. The Physics just works so well, and Tunnel and Fangs move sets are just so fun.

I'm old, but I always thought Retro Sonic was really cool for the time it came out. Obviously it was a tech demo, but the level design and artistic direction helped make it feel like a natural extension of the classic Sonic series, like it would have came out after Sonic 3&K but on the Sega CD. Suppose it's fitting that Taxman's engine would go on to be used for future classic Sonic ports and eventually Mania, almost makes this sort of a precursor of things to come.

Sonic Mars was meant to be for 32X,not Saturn.This is because the real info for cancelled Sonic games lies within Sonic Retro.org, Hidden Palace.org and Cutting Room Floor, not some Youtuber.

My fav Sonic fangame outside of SRB2 has to be Sonic Time Twisted,altrough you gotta get all Chaos Emeralds AND Time Stones to get Good Ending,which is insane.
