What in the world is SRB2 Workshop?

Reading the thread, I honestly do not think that we can do much about the existence of the Red Sphere section outside of educating users about respecting creators (because we are talking about content for a fangame of an IP owned by Sega, with some of the mods themselves being based on Sega characters as well as on content from other franchises).

Another option is to just not let the alternative board gain too much notoriety on this forum, since for starters we do not want to let potential tension with them lead to a negative impact on player experience here.

this implies you don't understand the cold war.
and no, the cold war was not a fight of two equal evils. the us created the "red scare" which was a form of propaganda used to make people scared. it at some point turned into modern sci-fi. the ussr starved people... and did their own version of the "red scare".
Equal in power, I mean. The United States and USSR were the two sole superpowers. There is only one official SRB2 forum, and thus it will always be far more popular than a sideshow run by banned users hosted in a separate hemisphere from most players.

they're doing damage without even being here. and I think that's something to be worried about.

what damage exactly?

the workshop is NOT doing anything to the srb2mb at all lmao, mods are still being made and threads are still being created, if anything the workshop is basically a wasteland compared to this.

Wanted to put my 2 cents in, and by 2 cents, I mean 15 dollars. That's right, I have quite a bunch to say. Firstly, I use workshop, message board, AND gamebanana mods and strongly believe that's ok, based on quality. Secondly, how do devices with only 2.2 ports play these old mods, do they: A. Buy a brand new device just to play as some sonic character. B. Use crappy emulated versions, such as the 2.0 psp port or playing 2.1 on exagear. Or C. Just download a goddamn portleg, not go through that struggle and call it a day. I suggest that most normal non-nerdy people would go with c. Why? Cuz money don't grow on trees, and even trying to use exagear for anything is just a waste of time and storage. Thirdly, before you ban me, hear me out: the rules are kinda strict for a sonic fangame forum. Like, quality control? Seriously? A modding forum should convince everyone to make a mod regardless of quality. I mean, that's how gmod got popular. Fourthly, no one should whine because their mod for a fangame with ALREADY COPYRIGHTED CHARACTERS gets even the most inspiration to be ported to newer versions. It's not stealing, it's preservation. Moral of this story: don't whine about a sonic forum being created for something you don't like.

Well, SRB2 WS is a unofficial SRB2 website created by Domikoto (if you want know why WS got created or more imformations about it, go on his yt channel in the community pagel). WS is also for people who got ban from MB, for my case by exemple,( my account got unbanned but lol). Hope this his helpful for u bruh

To be honest in the work shop some people left and ask the moderators there to erase there mods but they add them back when the user left with out there permission. Not only they mod portlegs but the WS doesn’t actually care about there users so much in the rules.

honestly
the reason why some of us go to the workshop or gamebanana are because people are getting bored of mods from the MB and want to have a new taste.

Personally, Yes it's the hole point. Some people just want to see what the workshop or gamebanana looks like anyway, which is why making a account just seems fine or not fine. In anycase, I could just say do whatever you want "thing" as intended.

I see your 15 dollars and raise your another 3. First of all, quality control is a thing of the past. As long as a mod has quite literally anything original (something that makes it *your* mod) and functions without game breaking errors it's allowed on this site. Second of all there is a difference between making a mod with copyrighted characters and outright stealing someone else's hard work. Making a Mario mod requires your own sprites and coding and your own touch. Making an inazuma portleg requires you to take someone else's. Finally, if people haven't released a port of a mod for the version you play then the solution (and this may sound harsh but) is to find different mods to play. Using that as an excuse to play a portleg is like committing art forgery and using the excuse "I couldn't find a copy for sale" if you can't live without certain ideas a mod puts forward then make a mod inspired by those ideas, not one stealing them.

You take the 2.1 source code and port the version yourself.
