What can we expect from 2.3?

Development is actually moving pretty well at the moment. While I would personally not pin a date just yet, it does increase the chance of a strong finish for the 2.2.x series (ie. every addon and custom map working as it should without needing a specific version).

The Gitlab appears to be holding up so far, which is good.
Yeah the Gitlab is holding up pretty good, But i do think 2.2.16 will drop the end of this year, or the start of next year!

With how 2.2.16 looks, i think the netcode's getting rewritten, You can see progress on both 2.3 AND 2.2.16 in the GitLab.
If you wanna see for yourself, here's the link: SRB2 GitLab
I'm confident 2.2.16 is dropping the end of this year.
Y'know what'd be really good? Client prediction. Or an authoritative client-server network model like most MP games use instead of lockstep that SRB2 uses. But that'd require a full rewrite of the netcode... so I don't think we're ever going to get that.

This is not true on netcode being rewritten, it just fixes some minimal bugs of it but is still lockstep for a long time, there is no public 2.3 progress in the gitlab, only a branch that just contains the bare minimum of 2.3 code without spoiler content.
