Your Tikal turned out good because you've made enough changes to make that sprite look like it wasn't edited from Amy, which Angelus hasn't done, especially with her head.
Now that makes sense.

Meh, No worries, Dr.P. I'm invincible. *shot* Hold on, How'd you know it was a bike accident?
I see all and know all, mwahahaha. >:D *shot*

I have actually stated what I use. I'm pasting to Windows Paint after taking a print screen. That's pretty much all I have in the manner of photo editing. I had something for editing, but I had a system crash and I lost it. Ah well, it happens. If you have any suggestions for what to use, I'm open to it, because I'm tired of annoying Paint.
MSPaint is actually pretty good and well suited for spriting, my only complaint js that doesn't let you zoom in enough or have more than 3 undo levels. Meh, it's only a basic image editor anyway. If you can, get KolourPaint. :D *shot*

Yea, sure. And I have sonic's powers. You heard from someone else. :D

Thnx for the suggestion. I'll see if I can sometime later. Right now I'm attempting to lengthen Tikal's dreads. It is a very...interesting task. Then I'll get back to her walking frames.

DAAAH! There isn't a Win32 binary for KolourPaint, it's Linux only. D: *sobs* The code relies too much on KDE to be quickly ported anyway, but it would still be nice to have 500 undo levels and 1600% zoom on Windows too!
A bit of advice, don't work on any frames until you're sure that the character's standing frames are final. (Besides superforms, those are different) Remember when I wanted to make Amy's dress a lighter red color? I could have saved myself a lot of time recoloring 135+ frames if I had thought of using the right shade of green in the first place. That's why I didn't work on any of Shadow's other frames until I was sure his eyes were the right shape and his fur was the right shade, changed color correctly, shoes didn't look goofy, etc...You don't want a boat-load of mistakes/changes to correct later if you get pretty far into making the sprites.
I suggest saving yourself a lot of time and make sure the standing frames are as good as you can draw them, (I could help you if you want) then worry about her walking frames and the rest of the sprites. That's how AmyRE1 got finished in a month. :D

Once again, people, it's time for an update.

So far, Thanks to the help of the always awesome Dr.P, the standing frames are completed 100%. So here's a thank you to him. I did however give her a snout, so now she could pass off as knux's sister (And once I'll Begin gets back, I bet he'll be happy to hear that)

I've now started on her walking frames. I've got her the D1 frame nearly complete. The only problem: Her stubborn, pain in my butt right foot! Other than that, everything's a-okay.

I'll post pics when I got more D frames done.

Until next time, forum users,
Angelus, over an-- I am so totally out of here.

You're welcome Angelus. :)
Also, why don't you post pics now so we can tell you if you messed up? You wouldn't want to make a bunch of Walking frames then have to change them all over again, that's one reason why Blaze took longer to finish, I was amending her sprites constantly. D: It's also not a good idea to do the walking frames first, they're a pain in the neck to do even if you're editing them from another character's sprites, and it's exhausting. The walking frames are the most time-consuming part of almost any WAD, and usually consist of 1/3 or 1/4 of the frames of the total in it as well. D:
Try doing all of the other frames first, like spring up, spinning and gliding...etc. That way all of the easy stuff is already taken care of before you exhaust yourself working on the walking frames, I was glad I did that with Shadow. :)

I would if I had some done. Wait, I have D3D7 done. Hold on folks, I'll attempt to upload it A.S.A.P.
And to tell the truth, the ability frames are what worry me the most. (the climbing frames more than the gliding, but gliding worries me too). But I will take that advice. I'll be starting on jump frames. That's just recoloring a ball, how hard could that be? *shot* I'm not planning much for running, because all she does in SA2B is jog.

Bottom line: new frame pending, then schoolwork (sorry folks, that is a must), and then jumping frames. I'll keep you all posted.

Now, on to the next order of business:

EDIT: DAHH! Having trouble with auto-caps! Why, lord?!?!? Anybody know how to get rid of it?

Let's try this one last time, people. The first step pics are down below. They are in the best possible quality (I think)

Here's what I tried for walking, but it's a lot harder than I thought. So I've skipped over those (put the shotguns away, people, it's only a temporary skip). I have some decent spin sprites complete, and now I'm working on spring up and down. I've ran into difficulty with down, though. XWE is auto-capitalizing and I can't get it to stop!!!! At any rate, I'm making some headway. I'll keep everyone posted, pun not intended.

Later Days,
Angelus

P.S. Just in case anyone noticed my avatar, I guess I should say that project was kaiboshed. It was supposed to be Angelus, but it turns out that Angelus is actually used in Sonic Riders. He's a guardian for Babylon (And for 3 years, I thought that name was original *cries*)

I did. All I saw was the following
  • Repoen last file on startup
  • Perform cleanup on exit
  • Keep only one backup file
  • Disable undo
  • Open maps in preview mode first

I also checked in the Entry Lists and File Types tab, but it's not there. That's what I don't get. Do I have a bad version of XWE?

Wow, people. It's been an entire week since I last touched this topic. That's like, unheard of.
It's no real fault of my own, though. This entire week went into schoolwork, with (3) four-page-essays all due the same day (And people say that teachers don't collaborate...)
Anyways, I've got a few of her falling frames done, so when I get back from school today, I'll post some pics to behold.
Well, that's it for now. Until next time,

--Angelus

Don't forget to get an updated copy of XWE if you haven't already.

No worries there, man. Already did. And I love not having to fight autocaps. :D

Make her a little more orange, and she'll be perfect!

Uh, fawfulfan, you do know those pics are old right?

Btw, Good job so far!
Thanks, HxK. I've been working hard whenever I get the chance. Heh, you read my mind. But that does remind me I owe you people some pics, and delete these outdated images.
First, Dr.P's generous contribution(s):

And now, what I've been working on:

I would also show you her side falling frame, but it's still in production and quite frankly, it still looks butt ugly.
That's all I have to show you for now, folks. Stay tuned, because more will be coming.
Catch you all later!

Uh, I didn't know that. I tried to find the most recent pics, but I didn't notice the ones that were posted after it. But I took a look at the new ones, and if those old ones were great, those new ones are PHENOMENAL. Absolutely no complaints!
