I've been ""trying"" my best to learn LUA by diving into other people's addons in order to grasp the basics for the past few days and it hasn't really been going well... (tutorials haven't helped either)

My goal is a mod that's kinda simple

The wiki. The custom player ability tutorial as incredibly minimal as it is might be something worth taking a peek at too.
Scripting/programming in general can have quite a steep learning curve for some people, but when it clicks, it clicks.
It's also unhelpful to both yourself and the people trying to help you when you vaguepost about something you want help with. You don't have to say the entire premise of the mod, but just abstractly talking about what you're mechanically trying to do is enough. A "kinda simple" mod isn't enough to give any specific advice on.
But all in all, good luck on making your mod!
