I started out with the SADX screenshots that I traced. Then I traced them again with the SAMDL model viewer. After that, I switched to the SA2 model, and then after that I made my own high poly SA2 model in Blender and I've been using that since I started the rolling sprites way back when in March or whenever the hell it was.

I've decided to make sure that I take more time to make this project the best it can be, and unfortunately that means I wouldn't expect a release any time soon if I were you guys. Reaching a December release even with all the prerenders completed would've been no easy task to begin with, and seeing as I've already been burnt out for the past month, I'd be hard pressed to get him released even in early 2022.

Take as long as it's needed
There is another mod that is close to a Dreamcast era sonic (being neo sonic) so we can play that mod for now and wait for this sonic to come out.
 
Telling creators to go faster doesn't do anything, it just makes you look bad.

Damn bro you would be great as a clown 🤡 I think I can hook you up with a circus nearby and with training ( which it doesn't look like you need any ) you can get your clown degree
 
Can't remember if I mentioned this before, but this mod is on hiatus. Basically, I've just been doing other things, weather they be unrelated to SRB2 or not. The most recent progress I did make related to this mod, though, I think you'll enjoy. It probably won't be happening for a while, but after remembering that the menu sprites in Sonic Pocket Adventure was basically SA1 era Uekawa art in motion, I mustered up the courage to attempt a resprite, which in turn motivated Blur to do some clean up. You can check out the original sprites from SPA here, and as for the ones Blur and I came up with... this is as far as we got that I can show off at the moment.

Multiple references were taken into account for these, with front and back being loosely based off of the SA1 model sheet Uekawa drew, and the I looked at Shadow for reference on Super Sonic, which is why he looks the way he does from the diagonal front view. Also, chances are, this means that the other Dreamcast characters are cancelled, and the plans for them will be repurposed for other projects.
