Dash's World: Moving to releases/massive update

All right so, when I release a beta, you'll give me a full review, right segmint? I just wanted to release an alpha as a proof of concept, just to show that I was actually working on this.

Of course.

By the way, call me Mint please. There's no way the Administrators would care to change my nickname, so I have to ask people to call me by what I want it to be. Go figure.

All right, he we go, I finished a new level, a single player level will be released soon.

Click on "Request Download" in the top left corner of the page to download the wad.

Another window should open up and the download will be on the right section of the page.

That doesn't help, DashFox2007.

EDIT: Oops, I didn't see the "download file" on the next page. :|

Wow... I'm actually downloading a level without looking at any screenies!

I will try to give in-depth criticism once I play it.

EDIT: Here we go!

Simple, yet proportionate. It's very well done, although a bit too simple for my taste. It could also use some more monitors/rings, and the special rings should be brought up 32 units to look proper, although deafing them won't have the same effect as normal rings.

COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT. If you have a question to the creator, why not just PM him (instead of clogging up the topic with useless questions)?

Edit: Fixed a punctuation error.

Dash, if I were you (which I am not), I'd wait until I have enough done to build an actual alpha (including most to all of the levels and custom stuff). Releasing levels individually is a strange way of doing it, if you ask me. It's also more confusing to do it that way, than to release a large number of maps at a time.

Two people(Including me) told DashFox2007 that there was World of Pain in it in a netgame not too long ago, which is a bad thing. So he had to remove it.

He's probably just a little anxious to get his levels out where we can see them.

I will try to give in-depth criticism once I play it.

*Moving review here since nobody noticed it*

EDIT: Here we go!

Very impressive!

Played a run-through of the level and looked it over in SRB2:DB and it looks very professional for a relatively new wadder (unless I'm mistaken). I haven't yet played in multiplayer but my gripes are:

Water really doesn't work well in this level. It slows you down and makes it hard to see. I would suggest an intangible fof with maybe a custom water texture to make 'space-water' (or just floor scroll with an existing texture).

Also the water area is kind of boring, try giving it a little bit of stuff to make it a little more interesting. Maybe give it a second level higher up (pipe hopping, would be a good place to have power-ups and make use of the bomb ring) SRB2:DB is really good for FOF's so long as you don't get carried away. (I do that too often, I once made a network of pipes so complex I could hardly see through them.

Maybe some steps into the wall in that area (in view so we don't get anyone hiding in the middle) leading to the higher level and then some pipes (thick, 4-8 pipes wide) for walking on with some tributaries (1-3) for hideouts where it goes into the ceiling.

Also make that area in one corner, and then copy it to the opposite corner. You can always use deafed (that correct?) teleporters to give instant access. Then you can also have that little area with the rail ring on the other two corners. (two rail rings are better for larger matches)

I'd only keep rail and bomb weapons with, of course, the infinity ring. The bomb ring would be great in a modified version of the water area, and the rail ring would work with the center area if...

The center area could have a Midnight Abyss-esque platform up on top. Just to give snipers an opportunity to use the rail ring. If you choose to do this, make it intangible from below and put a spring beneath it. (put the infinite weapon above the spring, just high enough so you don't need to use the spring to get it) This way snipers have to be careful. There could also be some floating platforms leading to there or something similar.

Last thing is no biggie, I didn't know you could go through the window until I accidentally went in.

Now this is constructive criticism complimented by some advice. This is all up to you, and it is a really good level. I'm just pointing out what problems it had and giving tips on how to make it better.
