Huh, weird to see that this wasn't blocked yet. Anyways...

Hey guys, I'm back after 3 months or more... I don't really remember...
First of all, sorry for the inactivity. No, I'm not gone or anything. My laptop...uh...well, THAT'S what is gone. It just randomly stopped working, and that's the reason I suddenly disappeared for that long.
Now due to the explained, I won't be able to continue my projects. My phone has lots of trouble running SRB2, so it's impossible to even continue there. I'm sorry for those who looked forward for my projects :(

What I can guarantee is that I WILL get back to modding, but I'm not sure when will that happen. For now, I'll be taking a forced break from this pastime, and the game itself. I'm NOT leaving the community tho, so you can still contact me or anything you want!

Btw, my name might change soon to "♡ IcySandwich :3": my latest identity on Internet. Still waiting the moderators approval for that.

Anyways, that's all I've got to say for now. I hope I didn't disappoint you too much. See you all soon!!~
oh hi again

Oh my goodness...

Thanks to all of you who were patient enough with me, hehe :3
I got a new PC, and that means I also got back my ability to mod SRB2. Yeyyy!!
So...ye, I'm back on my rails and already working on some stuff, so stay tuned...or don't. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

Btw, I'm taking this moment to ask you all a question I've had on the back of my mind: Should I make separated W.I.P. threads for my addons, or keep them all in one single place like always?
I think separating addons would be great for organization, but I'm leaving it up to you! ^^

And, as for now, I'll be pausing my previous projects to work on a...quite ambitious new thing.
("pausing" basically translates to "i've lost every single bit of progress from my every project... AAAAAA-")

keep em in one place

Hi, I'm still alive lol.
Geez, it has been months. Tbh I had completely forgot about this..... But I'm finally back, and there's something I want to show y'all:

srb20045.png

If you frequently pass by the #modding-central channel at the SRB2 Discord server, you might recognize this and maybe how it all started.......
srb20030.gif

Sonic Robo Blast 2, but 2D, because why not? You could call it a... SRB2D, eheheheheh. ok whatever-

Of course, this aims for something more unique than just SRB2 but squished into the UI and without the depth axis.
One of those unique things is that objects in the 3D map will be unaffected by this particular 2D-mode, allowing some cool stuff ig. But this pocket dimension exists at the harsh cost of recreating most stuff about the game (player/object thinking, collisions, physics, some HUD, and more...) from zero...
oh. my. gosh.

srb20121.gif

Support with custom characters also gets done from 0 btw (with no need to modify any code from them!!!1!1!!1)
srb20106.gif
srb20054.gif

skip one's an oldie gif..

Also, something else I want to announce too:
Some of my oldest addons might start receiving updates again. Some of them will get entirely redone, while others will just get a few patches and bug-fixing. I can't just leave them in their current state! There's lots of new things I've learned along the way, and I figured out those oldie addons could get some serious improvements! (+2.2.14 could also break them without me realizing, I think...)

Aaaaand I'll try to be more active around here instead of letting this get buried into the back of my mind during almost half a year. No promises, though. The thing I'm the worst at is remembering.....!

Now that should be enough. Goin' back into mah lair. Cya.

I've also been thinking of doing something like this for a while now. This looks awesome!

"Mom, can we get Dark XSonic?"
"No, honey. We already have Dark XSonic at home."

Dark XSonic at home:
srb20125.gif

This is CSC v2 btw. It's getting a few new features... 👀
Post automatically merged:

Thanks to the color library introduced in recent versions of SRB2, now the darkest of colors can also look shiny enough with CSC v2!!!

Here you can see the difference, side to side, using Black as the Superform color.

Left is CSC v1.x | Right is CSC v2

srb20126-ezgif.com-crop.gif

(srry for the quality and desynched speeds lmao)

Btw this will be a toggleable thing, because:
  • I'm aware some of you might prefer the older animation instead of this new one. Some colors really look great that way!
  • The new color animation makes use of color.rgbToPalette: a function that searches for the palette index color that looks the closest to a given RGB color. Most of the time it does wonders! But there are a few tiny cases where applying this can get some... undesired results...

(why automergere 😭)

Uhhhh any thoughts on this possible menu design?? I still gotta do some more submenus with other options, as well as a preview screen, but I felt like sharing this atm. As always; suggestions, questions, and feedback are all appreciated!!

Should probably rename the "Quit without saving" command to something that makes it more obvious that changed settings will still be applied despite not saving....
And speaking about saving/loading.. Your settings from CSC v1.x won't carry on over to v2, due to the way they're now organized. That unless I get to do some kind of "settings migration" thing.

(also pls just ignore that column of white rectangles lol)

srb20050.png

Ah yes, and just like the screenshot seems to suggest: now you can select an actual Superform color too, yayyy!!!!!11!!1!
