On my first playthrough, I noticed that doing special stages turned Inazuma into Facciolo, who had spinning drill sprites and everything. I didn't even suspect it was unusual until later playthroughs when he stayed Inazuma. Was that a glitch or some sort of secret?
Intentional, NiGHTS sprites are separate from super form sprites.

It's the inconsistency I'm asking about. Why be Facciolo one playthrough and Inazuma the next? What causes it to change?
Okay, I'm not sure if I'm missing something here, but the inconsistency as you've described it, seems to be explained.
When first getting the chaos emeralds, you control Facciolo instead of Inazuma because that's what leads to the player finding the Portal to Mindscape Zone, leading to the whole story segment that's supposed to end with Inazuma killing Facciolo for good.
That demarks a difference: Before completing Mindscape Zone, Facciolo is still around and trying to influence Inazuma (He even says "Because the Chaos Emeralds know this is the only way".) After completing Mindscape and killing Facciolo, said influence is gone.

If you completed Mindscape Zone once, you unlock the SIlverhorn command that allows you to revert progress with Mindscape back to 0 (Or back to complete if you change your mind, I think). I'd hazard a guess this "progress" is saved independently of your savefile progress, so it stands to follow that if you got into new Special Stages after that, you wouldn't see Facciolo because by all intents and purposes, he's dead.

haha Inazuma go woopan gandam style

Ahh so it's based on Mindscape progress! Thank you! I knew it had to be something, but I just couldn't figure out what, and people didn't seem to understand my question.

Indeed!
To be fair, that question probably made that user second guess themselves when it came to what you meant, since I can imagine a lot of people would see that attention to detail and think "Oh yeah, that makes sense!" and leave it at that, as they probably had no reason to question it, really (or heck, maybe they didn't even get to see it 😅 ). Facciolo wouldn't appear anymore if you killed him, afterall! Considering the amount of detail SilverhornChars has in general, y'know?

So actually finished Mindscape now and it wasn't as bad as I thought. Perhaps because it wasn't late in the night and being rushed with the attempt being done too late and wanting the unlockables as fast as possible.
Still did it with infinite lives but wasn't really needed as I noticed the golden life monitor that basically give you infinite attempt at the boss. Still supposed to do the level itself with 3 lives and it may not be enough for everyone(died more than that for dumb reason during that run).

The biggest issue I had wasn't much the difficulty but it's length, well it's fine considering the boss but wouldn't be against it being shorter. The first phase is good but sometimes hitting him can be quite random as if you don't take your jump correctly you're too low to hit him if he's high but you don't get punished for it so it's fine. The second phase could have been shorter(the attempt took 10 minutes) as it being this long may cause people to play riskier than they should, also it can be hard to recover from some moves and the camera don't help with that(nice that we attract rings). Something that concern both phases is that dialogues slow down attempts a bit but it's nitpicking.
We still get rewarded with a nicely done credit sequence and I like the picture we get.
Still keeping the 4 stars because of the fight being too long for what may be considered like a bonus level with the way to access it as well as various minor things(and that I'm too lazy to edit my review).

Edit: Just noticed something while in Aether's Castle(left from the entrance):

How do I access this Mindscape? I've been trying to unlock it for hours.
very simple my lad
as inazuma (or him and aether) get all the emeralds and in a normal level get 50 rings (you might need the normal good ending but i'm not sure about that)
once you have all that stuff there'll be a portal at the end of the level leading to mindscape

someone know what is the music?

(e'mmmm aether The strange hedgehog has been staring at me since we got into the elevator, inazuma i am bored please be in silence)
