Hi, this is my first mod! I wanted to give Metal Sonic more vertical freedom without sacrificing his gimmick of staying on the ground as possible to build up speed.
Air Gauge
Metal Sonic's new mechanics revolve around his Air Gauge, which refills while on the ground. It refills way faster when you're moving quickly, so keep running to keep flying! Just try to make sure you don't get to -100...
Hover Up
This move is a hover that moves Metal Sonic up slowly. Be careful though, it burns through the Air Gauge really quickly, so use it sparingly to maximize its utility! When you run out of Air, this move becomes a slow fall, and continues draining Air at a lower rate.
Blast Down
Pressing spin in the air will let you use Blast Down, a fast fall with three charge levels. While it consumes Air, it brings you to the ground faster and gives you a bonus to the amount of Air received after doing so.
Blast Down Lv.1
Consumes 30% of the Air Gauge to thrust you downwards, with a 1 second bonus to Air refill. This will be your bread and butter move when it comes to Air Gauge management.
Blast Down Lv.2
After charging for 1 second (the second beep), you'll be ready to use Lv.2. It consumes 60% of the Air Gauge and sends you down at an even faster rate than Lv.1. However, this gives you nearly 3 seconds of bonus Air, so this move is important to use wisely.
Blast Down Lv.3
After fully charging a ding sound plays and Metal Sonic's color stays on Icy. This means you're ready to use Lv.3. This move will demolish your speed and instantly rocket you downwards. However, it instantly fully refills your Air Gauge, so it's essential to keep in mind for emergencies.
Finally, you can press Custom 1 on the ground to swap between Hover and Float modes. Hate the changes? You can just stay on Float mode with zero consequence! However, swapping between these two options can give you unmatched mobility, so even if you love the Hover, keep the Float in mind for more horizontal areas.
