SRB2 Generations: Greenflower/Technohill Demo

SRB2 Generations: Greenflower/Technohill Demo GFZ-THZ DEMO (v1.1 patch patch)

although the levels look good, I don't like that literally 90% of the time I just press W and boost, which is a problem with modern Sonic (pun intended, haha!) I would like more gameplay sections, although I know that this is not so easy to do

these are genuinely really cool boost style stages, not the first i've seen in SRB2 but definitely my favourites. they REALLY invoke the feeling that generations' stages had and i had a ton of fun with them!

literally only two criticisms; one, i do think the stages should be made slightly more compatible with other characters. nothing too egregious, but i'd like to be able to at least finish the stages as characters other than modern sonic/characters with flight.
two, i'm not sure i get the inclusion of both zones' act 1? i know they're supposed to be the "generations classic stages", but (if i recall correctly) those weren't all one-to-one ports of the older stages. obviously i don't want you to have to make new stages, but meshing acts 1 and 2 from the vanilla game could be a fun approach. or just get rid of them entirely lol

but yeah overall? wildly impressive, super fun, i can't wait to see more!

the two stages were developed with only modern sonic in mind, so I pretty much never tested the levels with the vanilla roster--it's a problem that wouldn't appear in the full release version of the addon (like about next year if development doesnt go wrong) I'll make sure of it...

the act 1s for both available zones are...really just there to fill in the gaps (the classic version gaps lmfao) and I really don't have a clue on how to fuse the original acts into one act without having zone builder explode in my face. I could also go for the extra mile of making 7 new 2d stages but god the 2d mode in srb2 is ugggggggggggggghh,,,so im not really just gonna touch that, it's best I bother with fusing both acts...eh, I'll keep ideas in mind.

anyways, thanks for the review!

This is possibly the best map pack I've ever played. The levels feel exactly like they belong in a modern Sonic game and the level designs are really nice! I can't wait until the full mod comes out.

thanks for the review!!! but i don't think any map pack will beat the vanilla levels lmfao-

it'll probably take a year to finish the full mod but im not gonna stop on development yes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Oh my god, it is so refreshing to see someone design around Boost formula gameplay who understands what makes the boost formula enjoyable.

These maps are fucking stunning dude. I spent multiple minutes taking in that Techno Hill skybox after hitting that self destruct button (probably not the best time for me to be sightseeing, haha!).

What's displayed here not only shows a deep understanding of how to design fun levels for the boost formula, but an understanding on how SRB2 vanilla levels are designed aesthetically. I feel like I'm in an alternate reality where 2.2 was designed as a modern sonic game.

Even if it's only 2 levels currently, they're extremely high quality. Keep doing what you're doing, this was a very positive experience!

Welcome to Releases!
