SpeedWay Characters Pre Version 3

This mod, its not well designed. There's alot of bad here, and not alot of good. The characters movesets are way too big, and don't make sense at times.

First things first, you didn't even bother to edit the character's SOC'S so we can know about these new abilities? This makes me have to keep looking on the page to use each and every ability.
Not even a some sort of HUD that tells you what thing does what? if it wasn't for the new character colors, I wouldn't even know if i loaded the mod.

Now, let me break down every character and rate them. Aswell as tell you why they are flawed

Sonic:
Right off the bat, you get a 0 for originality. Almost all of these moves are on every single sonic edit and even most sonic mods in general. They are all fine moves but what's even worse is how they are binded
The insta shield is on... custom 1? why? couldn't it not be on mid air spin as well? that leads me to my next point
Why should I even bother using the insta shield or peelout when the jump thok and drop dash exist? outside of a few situations, these are pratically useless moves unless you build your character around them.
You can even uncurl with spindash, making the peelout useless even for dash mode gain. Mind you dash mode is way too fast to even use.

Not the worst out of everyone, but he isn't good

Tails:
Right now, tails is way too overpowered. His new fly can reach the top of GFZ2 in a matter of seconds and there is barely any reason to touch the ground considering you also have dash mode
So then, what's the point of the other two abilities? well... filler. The spin drop would be useful if you could use it while you where flying, instead its just there. Not useful at all
Then his custom 1 ability, that cancels flight and gives height, but is useless as well because of how op his new fly is. He also can use his tail swipe, also really useless because you barely touch the ground

This character is just filled with filler, too many useless things.

Knuckles:
Onto knuckles and... wow, way to go and ruin the spirit of a character. He has so much vertical height gain now that you don't even need to take his paths.
Speaking of, why does he have a thok on.... custom 2 of all things. Even worse, a dig on custom 3 and a double jump custom 1...? surely there could have been more thought put into this moveset. Oh and the insta shield is back again

This character has too many tools in his kit, ruining it in the process. With horrid button binding to boot.

Amy:
Now, I REALLY hate base game amy and fang, so I thought anything anyone did with them would be better. I was wrong.
She can spin jump now, why? Amy was known for he inability to spin jump, and now she just... can. I don't agree with this.
Then, she still has the twinspin ability for some reason?! and a double jump, cool. The aton blast move on custom 1 was cool, but you can't even double jump out of it and it gives you more height then a double jump anyways
and she can use her hammer to jump... and the max height you can gain is just what the aton blast move gives you, so whats's the point?

This character has alot of questionable design choices.

Fang:
This character could have easily been the best in the pack if you removed the stop on startup. You did not do this, so he's still as bad his vanilla counterpart
He does have a dash mode like everyone else, and he doesn't stop again on ending, but then what's the point of keeping the one on startup? The new pop gun is still only good vs bosses and the dodge roll ability isn't useful at all.

This is the worst character in the pack, a simple change could have fixed him but instead he has more filler.

Metal Sonic:
Playing him, I barely found anything new other then a neat boost startup and the peelout. Really neat!

This is easily the best character in the pack, other then the peelout existing randomly he's all good

You notice anything? The best character in the pack is the one with the least moves, and that's what makes him so good
If you plan on keeping up with this, then I recommend you remake every character with a double jump ability and a air spin ability, thats it.
It would really help the characters moves feel more important.

Okay so I read this entire review and I feel like there's one thing you care too much about at least in my opinion. Simplicity, listen I know this mod can be too much sometimes but the point was using your abilities to help treverse levels and keep boost mode. Now for sonic I get what you mean he has abilities almost every sonic has but I really don't know what you want me to do about that.
For tails none of his moves are filler don't think that. The drop down can be usefull but I can agree in most levels it is useless at times.
For knuckles I see your point but don't really know why you have to make it so critical keep in mind when I made this addon I started with knuckles first and when I was making this addon I wasn't that great a lua and didn't really have any creativity even though I still don't
For Amy I see why you don't like her but in my opinion she's the second best in the pack right behind tails. I never really liked amy not being able to spin while jumping so that's why I made that change.
Now for Fang I don't really know what you wanted me to do fang is a character I never really liked and tbh I don't like him in speedway either so for this one I agree with you he is the worst in this pack
For Metal this is where the caring about simplicity comes in he is the most simple character in this pack I and feel like that puts him near the bottom there isn't much to do with him.
Now for the mod in general yeah I could've changed the SOC and updated the page for after V1 and I take full blame for that
overall I feel this review is too critical however opinions are opinions and I'll let you have yours.

great addon, love the changes you gave to the vanilla characters, and they even are good enough to control along custom characters, or even using the any who addon to go with an different partner (since the new version doesn't have sonic & tails as an option anymore because of broken stuff)

Sonic feels a bit slower than the rest of the cast, due to his homing attack locking on enemies.

Tails actually controls pretty well, my only problem is that his mouth looks blue.

Knuckles is a mixed bag. I feel like the twok is sorta unnecessary, but the Insta Shield is a nice tool to use, maybe map it to spin.

Amy... Me personally, I have no problem.

Fang's momentum roll controls well. Being able to use his tail bounce multiple times is also nice.

I like the fact that Metal has a little speed boost when hovering, but his Boost Mode is now unable to break spikes.

Most of your problems except tails's mouth are gonna be fixed the spike break that orginally used didn't work so that's why the spike break had never worked really also sonic is no longer gonna have a homing attack but thanks for the feedback!
