[Open Assets] Sonic But Funni! (under renovation) 1.0

Honestly, for its purpose, outstanding! It's simply meant for a good chuckle! Who needs effort when your char is simply for fun! Even so, the gameplay was nice and simple, and that's something I prefer. Gave it 4 stars because I can't WAIT to see what you have in store for us next update!

I hate to give this the sonic but bad treatment, this certainly is playable and has some effort put into it, but you still have a long way to go. Keep at it, I'm sure you'll improve

Hey, everyone starts somewhere! It's good that you're humble about it and want to update your mod further to improve it - that's a great attitude to have in general. So for criticism, I'll mostly fixate on things to fix that would improve the experience.

1) Tiny detail but it goes a long way, but I can't change colors in multiplayer. It's not a hard thing to fix, there's two ways you can go about it. Coloring him green (Check the wiki's palette for reference!) will let you recolor him however you'd like in multiplayer (SLADE has a color remap tool that straight up lets you change the colors of ALL sprites by another one, its very useful!). The other is changing the startcolor = 96 section in the S_SKIN. 96 is for green, which you'll notice is how most characters are colored with in most addons (Even vanilla!).

2) I found a few of these sprites pretty amusing, like the RIDE sprites being quite the surprise. You should play more with that! It's a shame that most of the time you'll be seeing the same sprites over and over again, and it'd be nice to see some of that creativity sprinkled over many more poses.

3) While yeah, Lua can be a scary thing, you don't exactly need to learn how to code - in the MB there's plenty reusable Lua addons that you can add to your character, it's as easy as looking through the Lua file and making sure the targeted player is your character's skin name. You can get help with that either in these forums or on the official discord. There's plenty of help there.

Most importantly keep that humble attitude of wanting to improve and listening to feedback. As I said before we all start somewhere and you don't have to be ashamed of not knowing what to do.

Hi bro I am the creator of sonic but bad the thing with the most reviews (I think) on the page and if I had to swallow 45 reviews some bad some good some important and I want to tell you that you did well! For your first mod I mean there are people who make a sonic recolor and that's okay, the skills are empty and I think your character looks too much like my character but that doesn't matter if you wanted to do this and you finished it THAT GOOD! since there are people who are lazy to make more than 200 sprites and you made it I hope to see an update!

okay, this is a BAD mod, let's get that out of the way first. it has no unique gameplay properties or any kind of lua, and just has a standard double jump. there's nothing interesting going into the gameplay. i
'm giving it more than one star, however, because it actually got a chuckle out of me a few times, especially in frames like PAIN and GASP, as well as the fact that the spinitem is the fish flicky.

other than that, unremarkable, okay at best sprites, and overall it's just fine, nothing more, nothing less.

If you would like help learning Lua so you can make him do something interesting, there's a scripting channel on our Discord server where you can talk to experienced modders who can help you get started. I wish you luck.

As you're first "funny" mod, I'm actually impressed that you pulled this off. This mod is bad, but almost in a good way. First off, your character isn't insanely over powering which is pretty good and when he spins he spawns fish. That was a great touch, but after looking at the carry sprites I laughed a lot. But I feel like the pain, spring, fall, and death sprites look lazy. I like this mod more than I should, though I think Hard Sonic wins my heart still.

After spindashing for 17 minutes:
The trees dissapeared
i spawned so many fishes that even sonc dissapeared
Game went from 35 fps to 5fps
10/10 mod will play again

Another "intentionally bad" Sonic mod. One that doesn't have any unique properties of play, he's just a bog standard Double Jump guy with no other gameplay quirks. It's purely an ugly Sonic, and nothing more. You technically drew a full sprite set for them, so I can't say you didn't put the work in making him, but he's ultimately not special, and being "intentionally bad" does not mean it is immune to criticsm, and it is still bad. He would have been far, FAR better if he ACTUALLY tried to use his gun, no doubt.
