Kirby's dreamland

[Open Assets] Kirby's dreamland SRB2 v2.2

I mean... it could be better if you made it actually possible for characters like Sonic alone and put different bosses other than Egg Slimer. And please, consider making the levels 2D if the game you are recreating is also 2D, also i think you should practice making single levels instead of remaking other games so you can get better! this is your first levelpack though so i guess the next one could be better.

your a bit late to the party (i dont have srb2)

I don't mind the short levels but the spam of the same boss over and over and over drove me insane. I don't think any boss is actually fun in srb2, barely even custom ones so maybe consider doing fewer bosses in the future? All in all I had fun with it, never played as kirby before.

I load into the first level thinking "Yeah sure, seems cool!" only to be nuked with like 30 badniks right up in my face, maybe even 35. Needs way less badniks. Besides that, it's a pretty good level pack, It's just frustrating to load into the level only to be greeted with a family tree's worth of badniks

Ok,i dont wanna be rude but...
Everything needs improvement

1-You need to learn how to use level headers
2-you didnt even cared for changing the stages name
3-Whn you end the levels, you go to acz1

Since everyone was noticing about it (even sandwichface too...), I think this map pack is seemingly the WORST kirby's dream land recreation the community has EVER seen for once. Clearly enemy spam, the same egg slimer boss again and again. EVEN the king dedede boss is egg slimer, Some Textures are even nonexisted and not fixed. And death pits that do not have the death pit sector on are a trouble with characters that have no flying ability (like sonic for example), Even somehow no skybox in some acts and zones don't have at all. This might be the worst we gotten yet to a remake of this game in srb2 at first, Clearly even usnig only custom characters as kirby or meta knight. Even meta knight wasn't in Kirby's Dream Land in 1992 at first, Atleast try next time for a level pack. Maybe Kirby's Adventure remake can be better, by practice. Hope you can do better in the next the level pack!

i'm not trying to be mean about this, it is ur first map, but i was disappointed of what i played.
the levels are really basic to the point some levels are literally straight lines, there really isn't any point in playing the levels from how nothing they feel. there's more things that i think need improvement, like the unoriginal boss battles being in almost every single stage instead of them being exclusive to the third act, or the generic unoriginal enemies being all over the stage in unnecessary spots, and again unoriginal music, and unoriginal textures (at least for the most part).
i think if u want some help i know how to change the level music (at least i think), and i can also help with the level design, or maybe u can just develop this more to a point it doesn't feel like a really early on demo for a actual game, and again i don't mean to be mean but i'm just being honest and i want to give some feedback for a person that is clearly more newer to this stuff

Recreating a 30-minute game is a great start to improve your mapping, however, you have a lot of improving to do.
1. Never.. EVER use a sky for your wall textures. I heavily recommend thok barriers, they will allow you to use the sky and let the user know how far they can go.
2. The levels are very short but the themes are split into acts. This is both a problem for your map and your recreation, as beating a 3 second map is very boring, and is not how the game really works. There is only 1 large level per stage in the original, so I would make 1 large level instead of 3 tiny ones.
3. Enemy spam and object placement. This takes the icing on the cake for your issues, I do understand Kirby faces a lot of enemies at once sometimes but your enemy placement is WAY too much, this combined with the thin very liner path makes this pack a struggle for enjoyment. While this is not really too big of a deal, there should really be less trees as well; and the stages that do include ring boxes are poorly placed and are just out there, same with the lives monitors as well.
4. The brightness is very heavy, to the point where some stages are unseeable, do not use brightness like 0-150, go for something like 250, or 230, this gives you detail on the shading without going hard on it, use a number like 10 when going through something like a tunnel/cave that leads to a teleporter.
5. The most thing you should see of all is Sev's Zone Builder tutorial, and the wiki. You need to pay attention to some tips and general help he can give, and the wiki will help you with questions such as "How do I import custom music to my mod? How do I name my levels? How can I make it so it only shows my levels in a save?"
In general, you really do need more practice and help, don't worry though, once you get the hang of it you'll see how much you've improved! Please do not let this message worry your or bring you down, I only want to help you improve. But, before you do Kirby's adventure, play around and make mini maps that will help you learn how things work. If you're stuck, try the wiki like I said. Not only does it tell you what to do, but it also gives you a file that helps show you how a specific thing works. I do hope to see more from you once you do!

Hey man, this is probably your first (or one of your first) map packs and there are some ideas here I kind of like. Despite this, I don't think this is very good.

1. This is clearly a Kirby themed pack. So it confused me as of why there is no Kirby music

2. The levels aren't fun. They are either way to short or have awful design choices (such as the level that is in almost complete darkness).

3. The maps don't look that good either.

I'm sure you can improve in the future. As I said earlier, there are some ideas here I like. I just don't think it was executed as well as they could have been. Keep practicing and I'm sure you can make something amazing!

I don't understand, how much time did you even spend on this? The enemy spam, horrid texturing, using SKY TEXTURES on THE SKY levels that are SECONDS long. This feels like this was chopped up in 10 mins and was called a functional map pack! I know this is your first map, but this is unacceptable even for that. Do better next time bro.

Don't worry in my second map kirby's adventure everything will change (I think)

This level pack is pretty neat. We don't see levels dedicated to certain characters. Last time I saw something like that it was with AStHFVSAEME. (Average Sonic Fan vs Eggman Enjoyer), and that one challenge stage pack. I was able to recognize most of the setpieces here, being kind of a Kirby nerd. (I watched the Kirby anime in English AND Japanese, but that's beside the point.)

I really appreciate the effort and it was fun to go through. However, this is where I start to give advice.

Music - For a Kirby map I kinda expected Kirby music. It didn't bother me too much. You can always look for help at the wiki and discord if you don't know how to.

Stage Design - I'm not sure what happened here. While the stages are fun to go through, I was just lost here. I'm not sure if you were copying all the 2d setpieces of Kirby translated well into SRB2. This left it a bit blocky.

It didn't bother me much, but it can be jarring to others. Also, the enemy spam is absurd. Definitely in the boss stages. Also, the stages are a bit short. If you combine some stages and make it look a little less blocky I'm sure it'll turn out good!

Again don't be afraid to take inspiration from others and you can always ask for help in the wiki.

If you want inspiration for a Kirby stage just look at Green Greens Zone from the latest OLDC. (That being R2 2022)

For your first map pack, it's actually pretty decent, I just have a few problems

1. The levels need to be longer
2. Needs better texturing and some custom music

Other then that, I can excuse the hallway-like level design (since it's your first map pack or you taking to stay close to the source)
