Hakune has his Kick Thok to get him by; press Jump midair.
srb20131.gif

He shoots forward, defeating anything in his path. But what makes him special is everything he can do out of it...
srb20133.gif

Perform an upwards Air Burst by pressing Jump again during the Kick Thok. Use this to easily get on top of higher platforms.
srb20134.gif

Conversely, press Spin during the Kick Thok to stomp downwards. Used for cracking open floors, and can help you keep up your flow. What goes up must come down...
srb20135.gif

Need to reach a higher platform but your Air Bursts aren't doing the job? If you Kick Thok towards a wall, you will rebound off of it! You can perform it again to kick it twice. Especially useful combined with an Air Burst.
srb20136.gif

Don't bite off more than you can chew-- a third kick against the wall will send you down with no means of recovery!
srb20137.gif

Rock the world by pressing Custom 1 to strike a pose! You can do this at any time you want.

It may take time to master, but once you become experienced, you'll be able to go beyond whatever you face!
He may seem simple, but to become a pro you have to learn the ins and outs. Here's a few to get you started:
  • Landing on the ground while in the Kick Thok will make you bounce. The height you bounce is based on how high you're falling. It can potentially do more than kicking into a wall from the ground can.
  • While after you've bounced or are sliding on the floor, if you hit a wall you rebound off it a little. You can do a Kick Thok out of this. Try combining this with the previous tip.
  • Your upwards Air Burst can be shortened by letting go of the Jump button during it. This can help with precision.
  • If you find yourself at a disco, get yourself on the floor!

4 Stars. A bit hard to control at the start but once mastered, Hakune is quite fast and powerful. But COULD use a bit of tweaking for new players. Also tip for people using automatic: Look where your going before you use his primary ability. It helps a LOT so you don't fling yourself into a cliff

I've lightly followed the development of this character and it's really cool to actually see them finished.
He's cute, he's got a simple and fun moveset, and a really cool trailer.

If I had to describe his moveset, it'd be a more lenient version of Vector's moveset from the Chaotix character pack, which is nice since Vector was my favorite character there.

Worth the 3 year wait since i was hyped for him when he was an SRB2Kart character, i honestly really like him, he's pretty funny and pretty amazing.

This mod is good. but I do have some nitpicks. (ones related, ones un-related)

Hakune moveset feels good. it feels in the same vain as Knuckles' moveset, like something a character in sonic 3 would have.

However, I do have a nitpick. Trying to bounce on enemies using it feels a lot more about timing, which is hard to do with how fast it goes.

the second thing about his move set is.. the tumble thing after you do it against a wall 3 times. I think it's fine but. It doesn't feel like a risk. unlike something like knuckles gliding against the ground or tails losing his flight. all you really get is him rolling and sliding then pretty much losing no speed at all, which doesn't really feel like it did anything for it to be there.

also, his sprites are good. but his jump sprite just reuses from tails which is trippy since the in-between flash frames of him in a jumping state don't really make it consistent with how big tails' jump ball is. id suggest just using sonics or something.

overall 7 out of 10. it's not perfection or peak SRB2 modding, but it certainly is a well-done character. good job!

sonic's and tails' spinballs are actually about the same size so i think it's fine. it's never looked wrong to me anyway. But i will try to look into making the third wallkick a harder punishment. thanks for your critique

Incredibly accessible to just play straightforwardly but with the ability to overextend and overcommit so hard in exchange for carrying speed in a very vanilla-esque way, in ways other mods don't do. Vibes are amazing, haven't seen anyone match JP Sonic and Pizza Tower quite so seamlessly without losing any aspect of both. Awesome work, the great translation of thok gameplay makes me genuinely no longer dread the momentum update.

This character is good.. but not amazing. (At least for me.)

I don't believe Hakune does anything "new" or something that we don't currently have in the MB, but it doesn't mean it's a bad character.
It HAS effort, and you can clearly see that on the animations of the character being expressed by the taunts or the moves he does when he's fooling around.
Even with that, I seriously believe that his moveset is not a big of a deal. He's balanced for sure, having ways to get out on some places and bounce around is cool, but in return he doesn't feel risky, even with the "No Recovery" by the third wall kick. This made Hakune not very enjoyable to play on the long run to me, due to his safe nature and "okay" recovery options.

In general, if you're a new SRB2 player, or if you're a person looking for a "easy to learn" character, you may have a lot of fun with him. But if you're a person looking for some risk and adrenaline, you may not enjoy Hakune. Do give a try though, never know what surprises and revelations you may have with this character.

3/5, Try giving him a chance if you're in doubt.

Good job you powered though your negative motivation and still posted this with your hearts content
Hope you feel better soon with your better products (or if your only post I'm to lazy to check, your life in general)

a really fun character with abilities that flow well into each other and a fun character design (that actually looks like a sonic character instead of a random furry oc) and personality shown through the expressive and absolutely gorgeous sprites

why is hakune calling me a bitch though that's not nice

I. ADORE. This character.

I played through the entire game with him a few times and safe to say this might be one of my favorite character mods PERIOD. Animations are insanely well made, sound effects are well implemented, move set is really fun and easy to learn yet requires a good understanding of how it works to use on it's fullest potential, and the trailer is not only beautifully animated but also insanely charming.

Every corner of this mod feels like it had a good amount of love and passion into it, and I absolutely treasure it. It has the charm I honestly wish a lot of other mods had! Outstanding work to you and everyone who helped make this happen.

10/10, insanely re-playable and will definitely be a top pick of mine for years to come.

I'm happy to see more high-quality OC mods being release! Hakune got some real cartoony charm to him! Someone's been playing too much Pizza Tower and watching too much Courage the Cowardly Dog lmao.

Firstly, his animations. Beautifully animated! He is oozing with personality. He's just a short silly guy that wants to kick everything! He fits nicely into any level he's in. Very vivid and striking color palette. He doesn't look like a character that would suit having a super form, and yeah he doesn't here, besides a color change. No complaints here!

Secondly, his moveset. I love it! Definitely another one of those "easy to learn, hard to master" type characters. I think my only problem would have to be that I don't like that the air boost kills any speed you had before. It would be nice if it carried your speed as well so you could cross huge distances. I know the taunt is just a silly Pizza Tower reference, but it would be cool if he could parry attacks with it, like in Pizza Tower.

Otherwise, another awesome addition into the SRB2 OC world and one in my rotation. :)

i've never watched courage. most of hakune's expressions are just me exerting my own style onto him which is way more inspired by the anime i watch
