Destiny Island: Springy Beginnings demo Version 1.1

This is the first mod i have EVER released to the message board,
and since it's a demo things are obviously going to be subject to change,
so don't be grumpy when your favorite section in a level is gone

Anyways, the story is soon after Sonic and Tails stopped Robotnik
from stealing the master emerald, the chaos emeralds reveals Destiny
Island so they go check it out. Somehow, Robotnik was dragged by the ocean towards the island
as he then tries out his secret plan...

The only main stages are Spring Hills act 1 and 2 so be patient for the next stages

Seeing 2D acts/zones is always wonderful to see. But this ain't the best...
The wider area is suited to SRB2's faster running speed then the classics.

However, this mod has little use of the harder faster rot and the easier lower rot level philosophy that made the 2D sonics addicting to play.
The Badnecks and the pits were used to punish the player well.
You've rewarded players who pay attention with the hidden red spring by the ramp, it is quite easy to miss, along with the breakable wall hiding a emerald.

Monitors scattered about. Usually in packs. The fire shield isn't used effectively. The long gaps in the cave could be used to reward the player with a hidden platform only reached by the fire shield. The up and down rots' geography is very similar, and feels disconnected. Perhaps have a difficult platforming area were if you fall, you'll land in the rots already in the mod? Don't get me wrong, this mod is quite good and has a hopeful future.

In conclusion: this mod is pretty good but needs more research from sonic 1-K and Mania.

The level pack itself on its own does have nice ideas, but the general level design I'd say isn't put to play the best here.

One thing I could probably recommend is maybe adding more of those springs from the second Special Stage that take you between platforms into the 2D sections and stages. Generally, I feel like it's a really fun idea, is executed pretty well, and gives me a whole lot of VB Wario Land vibes.

As for some of the actual levels themselves, well, they're at least a good start. They're not great, but they certainly are still good. Most of the time the first act of Springy Hills is almost the same all around; I would probably change it to be more like a regular Classic Sonic level that also takes note of SRB2's different physics. The second act does not last all that long, which is its main losing point. I'd also probably make the terrain in general fit with each of the levels' themes; in the case of Springy Hills, probably more natural, and so on.

Overall, it's a decent experience, but in its current state I'd probably wish for it to be better.

nice job with your addon but act 1 and all the 2d sections in fact needs some improvement like having a better indicator that a bottom-less pit is close would do wonders and the 3d sections and very good mainly act 2 but your addon needs alot of improvement

Thanks for being the first one to review, (and probably) first person to play this demo! I might try my best to have better indications of death pits, i’ll also try making Spring Hills act 2 longer since it looks pretty short. And who knows! I’ll probably redo Special Stage 1 and 2 or make them longer.
