Cartridge's Drop Dash

Section 1 - Introduction
I know this move has been done many, MANY times prior. And I get it, you might wanna use Mania Drop Dash or Glorped's Drop Dash port, but at least give me a chance. Please??? Back onto the generic introduction, this addon aims to recreate the behavior of the Drop Dash seen in it's official implementations like Sonic Mania, Superstars, Origins, etc. I wanted to do this while having the ability mapped to the spin button, like how clairebun's Drop Dash did it, albeit using my own understanding of Lua instead.

Section 2 - How do I do it?
According to my code, the only manner of performing this move is to press and hold the SPIN BUTTON mid-jump until the player is on the ground. Once the player has made contact on the ground, they will be thrusted according to their current angle into a spinning state. This can be chained multiple times as long as you still retain the jump state, allowing the player to retain a sense of flow. Video proof can be seen in GIF attachments of this functioning in-game and the official counterparts right below.

When revving up the Drop Dash, the ability to thok will be disabled. This is done so that the Drop Dash does not conflict with Super Sonic's float ability.

Section 3 - Credits
That's really all I have to say about my addon. So, without the people that have been mentioned below, the creation of this addon wouldn't have been possible:
  1. Christian Whitehead - Concept of the ability, Implementation in Sonic Mania
  2. Sonic Team, SEGA - For the funky blue rat's existence
  3. Sonic Team Jr. - For this game's existence
  4. DirkTH - Drop Dash sprites from clairebun's Drop Dash and Double Jump
  5. clairebun, Glorped, Sls64LGamingBro - Implementation of the Drop Dash seen in their versions of it
  6. MegAmi - The sprite rips of the Drop Dash dust cloud used in Sonic 3 A.I.R's Drop Dash + mod
  7. TGTLS - The function for spawning in the Drop Dash dust cloud from Gens Styled Drift
  8. MainMemory - Logic of the Drop Dash's thrust value, as explained on Sonic Retro forums
  9. Me - Putting this all together, with the trials and tribulations that came alongside it
  10. You - For downloading this addon, and having fun with it (also potentially reporting flaws)!

This is probably the best implimentation of the drop dash in SRB2 I've ever seen, but I have 2 things I want to bring up in regards to this mod, one is an issue I found in it's functionality and the other is a minor option that I think many people would appreciate.

First of all, I noticed that when this mod is turned on the roll jump lock is disabled, while that may be a personal preference for alot of people, given the fact that most people these says use the "Many minor tweaks" mod which has an option to turn that off by default, I see no reason as to why it needs to be in here, especially since it disallows people who prefer to use this mod with the roll jump lock on.

The second is that I think that having an option for using the drop dash with the JUMP button instead of the SPIN button would be a nice option, either as a toggle or as a separate download option (it's up to you in that regard).

While it does mean that the Thok would be removed, I think it's a good option for those who may prefer to only play as Sonic with the Drop Dash only.

But with that said, this mod shows great potential, I love how the drop dash in and of itself has been implemented, I can't think of a single way to make the move better, I genuinely think that if you just make the additions I stated above, it could be even better.

You did a great job with this, I hope to see more from you in the future!

I loved this addon! And might be the best drop dash addon to me. It feels good, simple, and just like the one from the official games. I think the only thing that would have been cool is the option to use the drop dash and no thok, but other than that this is amazing!
